The next day...
Brooke POV:
My phone kept going off. Jay rolled over and got it.
"Answer it. It could be an emergency." He said and I groaned and he laughed and kissed my head. I'll be in the kitchen.
From Matt:
Hey are you coming to breakfast?
To Matt:
Going to have to skip today. Molly's tonight?
From Matt:
Have fun kiddo see you later
I got out of bed and went to the kitchen.
"Breakfast?" He asked handing me a waffle.
"Thanks." I said "sooooo...." I said
"Say what's on your mind brooks." He said finishing up.
"What is this?"
"It's breakfast."
"No..."
"I know. What do you want it to be? I mean I want you to be my girlfriend but I know you don't like that sort of work relationship thing so."
"No. I'd like that too." I said and he smiled.

Platt watched us come in together.
"Morning Trudy." I said
"Morning searg." Jay said and we walked upstairs
"I'd tell them earlier the better." Platt yelled up the stairs and we laughed
" wait. Do we tell them?" Jay asked
"They're gonna know jay." I said and walked in.
Everyone looked at us.
"About freakin time." Ruzek said
Kim came over and squeezed my arm. Voight came out and started talking about a case where hes prostituting young women and a young girl who was currently missing.
"Well who is it?" Jay asked and voight looked at me
"What?" I asked
"It's Jake."
"Jake? Jake from highschool? Jake Milck?" I asked and he nodded
"We got him on surveillance. But we need a couple to go in and meet face to face." He said "Casey, Halstead get dressed." He finished and we got changed.
"Damn! Look at you two looking fine." Adam said
"Careful." Jay said
"She's my partner." Adam added and I smiled
"Thanks Adam."
"You ready?" Jay asked and I nodded
"Okay well we'll be right there with you every step of the way. Your escape word is lemon."
"Copy that." I said and left with Jay. We got to the place and went to the bar.
"What can I get you two?" The bartender asked
"Why don't you surprise me." I smiled and he smiled back. He handed me a drink.
"Do you know if Jake is in?" I asked and the guy got fidgety "just an old friend. Want to say hello." I said
"Name?" He asked
"Brooke. Brooke Casey." I said and the bartender left and came back this time with Jake.
"I didn't believe it. Brooke Casey as I live and breathe." Jake said
"Hey jakey." I said
"I haven't heard from you in the longest time. I didn't even know you were in Chicago. How's your brother?" He asked
" also in Chicago. Can we talk?" I asked and he agreed and led us into his office.
"What can I do for you?" He asked
"This girl is missing do you know anything about it?" I asked. He looked.
"No. I'm sorry. When did she go missing?"
"A few days ago." Jay said
"Body guard?" Jake asked
"Partner." I said and he nodded
"Well I wish I could help more but if you ever want to grab some dinner give me a call."
"I'll keep it in mind." I said and we left.

"I think he's lying." I said when we got back to the precinct " the kid went off the grid since school. Somethings up." I finished
"We went to talk to his brother, Jason, he said he hasn't heard from him in years. Got into a bad crowd in college and never looked back." Adam said
"Let me go talk to him." I said and voight nodded and Adam followed.
I knocked on the door when I got there.
"Brooke?" He asked as he opened the door.
"Jason."
"Oh my god. How are you? What have you been up to?" He asked letting us inside "obviously you're a police officer now."
"Detective." I said
"Glad you're doing well for yourself? And Matt?"
" he's in Chicago too. Firefighter."
"Wow."
"Yeah. Listen your brother..."
"Jake. Yeah they came earlier. I'm sorry I can't help. You knew him. Always something up with him."
"Jason I need you to really think. A little girl's life is depending on this. Who is he rolling with?"
He thought for a moment "the last thing I heard he was with some west side guys. That was years ago though."
"Anything helps. Thanks Jason." I said and he nodded and we left.

Nobody POV:
They were trying to find Jake and tracked him to a park.
"He's right there." Adam said pointing to him
"Nice and easy. No sudden movements." Jay said and they all nodded and spread out.
"Jake." Jay said and ran and then Adam slammed him to the ground.

"Jake, why?" Brooke asked him
"Life isn't always easy Brooke. I had no where to go. No one to turn to." Jake said
"What about your brother?"
"Jason?" He laughed "only worries about himself."
"Where's the girl Jake." Jay said
"I don't know." He said
Voight came in "we can't hold him. He's free to go." Hank said and unlocked his handcuffs.
"Don't go far." Brooke said and he left the precinct.

They had made the connection between Jake, the gang and the missing girls.
"Bring him in." Hank said and they all went and busted down his door to his house. He had a gun.
"Jake. Listen to me. You don't want to do this." Brooke said
"There's no way out for me brooks. I know that."
"Yes there is. Come on just put the gun down."
"I can't do this anymore."
" yes you can. Come on. Jake. Please don't do this." She said but it was too late. The gun went off.

Brooke POV:
I was sitting on the stairs and Jay came to sit next to me.
"I know he was your friend...." Jay began
I cut him off " I didn't know him for a long time." I said and he put a hand on my leg.
"Hey you two good?" Antonio asked
"Yeah." Jay said
"Solid." I said
"My sister and her partner went through this. Guy blew his brains out in front of them on a routine call. Gabby was fine, but it hit shay pretty hard. Don't be afraid to talk to somebody, anybody. Me— if it sneaks up on you." He said
"Thanks." I said
"Yeah, appreciate it." Jay said

We were back at the precinct finishing up paperwork. I got up.
"Hey you done?" Jay asked and I nodded.
"I'm heading to Molly's. I'll meet you there?"
"Yeah." He said and kissed him. He looked at mouse.
"You didn't see anything." He said and mouse covered his face and I just laughed.
"See you later boys." I said walking out.

"Hey I heard you caught a tough one." Gabby said and I nodded as she handed me a beer "the door is always open." She finished
"Thanks." I said. Jay walked in with Matt.
"Hey. I heard about Jake. You alright?" He asked
"Yeah Matty. All good." I said
"I'm gonna go say hi to the guys." Jay said and I nodded as I went by the girls.
"Work relationships are hard." Kidd said and I smirked.
"They can be." I said. We all talked and then everyone started to leave.
"Hey." Kidd said and I turned around "I know how much of a strain working together can be on a relationship." She said
"Kelly's my blind spot. I mean, when it come to him, I sort of just go off the rails. Yours is jay. Just be careful." She said and I nodded. None of this was going to be easy.
