A blue blur sped through the forest, away from the scene it'd witnessed, it kept running.
The blur burst through the treeline and sped up, at the last second it halted and burst through a door.
The Glaceon ran straight to her bedroom and planted her face in her pillow, the tears unstoppable. They flowed down her face like a burst dam, she couldn't calm down. Why? Is this my fault? Why did I assume that? It's my fault. It's my fault he's gone. What have I done?
A Vaporeon walked into the room, and silently walked to Crystal, she rested a hand on her back, "What happened?" She spoke softly, Crystal tried to calm down then spoke up,
"H-He's gone..." She managed to say through the tears, she looked up at the Vaporeon, "Lunar is gone." She repeated. The Water-Type looked at her,
"What do you mean? He ran away?" Hypro asked, the Ice-Type shook her head,
"No. I mean... He's... dead." Crystal began to cry more while Hypro attempted to comfort her.
"How do you know he's dead? He could've fainted." She said in a feeble attempt to reassure her friend. "HE HAD A KNIFE IN HIS CHEST." She screamed, picturing the horrible scene, "HE WAS IN A POOL OF BLOOD. HE WASN'T BREATHING! THAT SOUNDS PRETTY DEAD TO ME!" Crystal finished as she put her face in her pillow again, more tears escaping. Hypro didn't know what to say, she just stayed silent and rubbed Crystal's back.
Jinx walked through the front door and up into the room, "What happened with her?" Crystal looked up at her.
"You." She said,
"What?" Jinx looked confused with Crystal's response,
"You happened. When you chased Lunar out he ran into the centre and he g-got attacked."
"By who?"
"EVERYONE!" Crystal screamed, her eyes were bloodshot and full of rage and sorrow,
"What? I only told a few people..." Jinx said quietly, Crystal looked betrayed,
"That's not all. Because of your gossip and threats, Lunar is d-dead." she said, regret and sadness, plastered all over her voice. She looked at Jinx with disappointment. Jinx stared back. Nothing in her eyes, the light, friendly Sylveon showed no remorse for her ways. The Vaporeon stayed silent, not wanting to get involved. The Ice-Type asked; "Why? You didn't give him a chance! That sentence would've been the decider between life and death! But you don't care do you?" She spoke harshly,
"Correct, I don't care. Why do you care so much?" Jinx said casually, Crystal began to get annoyed, "Because I fucking listened to him, Jinx. He reasoned with me. He was having trouble with his past and pushed himself too far during the battle and tried to not faint afterwards, that's why he didn't do anything. Because his energy was depleted. He was sorry about what he did and ran because of the way I looked at him, then one thing led to another, then you chased him, he got jumped and ended up taking his own life... If I was a few minutes sooner... things would've been different... But now he's g-gone..." Once she'd finished, she looked up at Jinx, she read her face, it showed surprise. "He... He did care?" Jinx said, she looked upset and dazed.
"Yes, and because of our ways... he's gone..." Crystal began to tear up again, and looked away.
Ruby began to stir, she opened her eyes and looked around, recalling the situation at hand, she remembered that Lunar was dying. She shot her eyes wide open and looked his way... he was... White? With green rings? What is this? She thought, the Umbreon was slumped in a chair, his fur was a pristine white, his rings slowly flashed, they were a minty-green colour, not his usual yellow highlights, he had a strange white mist surrounding him, he was still asleep. Ruby checked the time and noticed she'd slept for about an hour. She prepared to halt the transfusion. She locked her cannula and gave it a minute to let the remaining blood try and dribble into his veins, then she disconnected the tube, holding the end in the air, then did the same with Lunar's cannula. She threw the tube into a contamination bucket and locked the hatch, she walked back and checked the monitor, his heart beat was a healthy 90 and is oxygen levels were 94, she rendered this safe and revoked the oxygen. She took a disinfectant wipe and cleaned the cannula bung. She sat back down and looked at her brother, well she tried to. The white aura began to get brighter, it came to a point where she couldn't look straight at it. She looked away then waited for the glow to fade. Once it dissipated, she looked back at the Umbreon, his fur was once again, jet black and his yellow rings glowed ambiently. His eyes fluttered open, he lifted his arm to rub them, he looked up at the Espeon sat in front of him.
"What happened?" He asked quietly, the Espeon took a deep breath and explained;
"Well, I followed you to see what would happen between you and Crystal out of curiosity, I used my climbing skills to my advantage and climbed the trees, I watched you walk up to the door and then get attacked by a Sylveon and then Crystal, I watched them then drag you into the building and you didn't come out until sunset. Then I saw you burst through the door with the Sylveon in pursuit, then Crystal stopped her and tried to get you to come back. I followed and watched you enter the centre, then you got attacked by the people, I helped a little by using my Psychic to lift the big ones off of you. Then you ran to your house and re-emerged with a knife, then you took your own life... When I showed up, Crystal also did. She didn't see me but... she saw you... she started crying and went over to you, then she kissed you and ran off. Then I jumped down and brought you back here. Then I had to do everything in my power to sustain your life, I removed the knife and stitched up your wounds, then gave us matching bracelets!" She joked and pointed to the cannulas, "But, seriously, then I gave you some of my blood through a tube, then I hooked you up to the monitor and saw your pulse and oxygen saturation, your pulse was low and your OS was even lower, so I administered oxygen to you. Then I slept while the blood transfusion carried on. When I awoke, you were... White..." The Espeon stopped and looked at Lunar, "Wanna tell me what that was?" The Umbreon sighed and spoke;
"I'm not sure, but it has something to do with the way I evolved, don't tell anyone this, but, when I evolved, I came into contact with a strange aura, then I fainted, when I woke up, I was an Umbreon. With this capability. I've never seen it before but I call it 'Invertex' in that form I can do many things normal Umbreon can't. I don't fatigue in direct sunlight, and my attack and defence stat. double, alongside 'Stand By' that's what I call it anyway, it only happens I'm really damaged, I heal fast when resting, the only way to tell it's happening is when my rings slowly flash."
"That makes no sense to me but whatever," Ruby sat there, looking beyond confused, she continued her story; "Well, I stopped the transfusion and took away the gas, then you reverted into your normal form, then you woke up and here we are!" She smiled slightly, "Hungry?" she offered, wanting to end the topic. "Yeah, do you have any Cheris left?" Lunar looked at her hopefully, "Yeah, I think so, hold on." She left the room as Lunar inspected his wounds, he looked at his big wound, it was just above his naval, it was stitched up. He noticed he had multiple minor cuts and bruises littered all over him. Ruby walked back into the room and noticed Lunar looking at his wounds, "Here you go, a fresh bowl of Cheri berries!" She said lightly with a smile, "You know," She began "If you had punctured anywhere else, you'd probably be dead, you just barely missed every vital organ with that blade." She said whilst watching Lunar chew on a Cheri berry, "Believe it or not, you are incredibly lucky." Lunar swallowed and spoke; "True but... what if they don't accept me? The whole forest knows and hates me... where would I go..?" He asked, the Espeon smiled and said;
"Well, you never know until you try. Stay the night and then you should try to speak with Crystal, alone. I'll help you." She suggested, putting a plan together in her head
"Okay, what will you do?" Lunar asked,
"Simple, I'll tell you..."
The sun had set and it was pitch black out, a black silhouette moved elegantly through the trees, heading towards a building, they leaped out of the trees and landed softly outside of the door, their crimson gem glinted in the pale moonlight. They leaned down and slipped a note under the door, then left as silently as they came.
The sun began to emerge over the horizon, a Glaceon began to awake, she shifted around and opened her eyes, she groaned and left her bed. She walked down the steps into the living room, she noticed a piece of paper by the door, she padded over and read it;
Dear Crystal,
Please meet me near the west river, at 2300. Bring no one.
She looked confused and wondered who it was and why they wanted to meet so late, she fixed herself some breakfast and sat down, still looking at the note, she considered it to be Lunar but she dismissed it immediately, still believing he was dead. Jinx came by shortly after, followed by Hypro, they hung out at Crystal's place then went to the cafe. Hypro and Jinx sat together, while Crystal sat alone, she looked to her right at the empty spot, missing Lunar's presence.
The day went by slowly, with mostly Crystal feeling alone, Jinx and Hypro talked with each other whilst the Glaceon sat alone, looking out at nothing, daydreaming about the Moonlight Pokemon. She sat there for several hours until Hypro and Jinx announced their departures. Once they'd left, Crystal began to cry, "I miss you, Lunar..." she said in between tears, she cried softly whilst missing the eon. She calmed herself down and looked at the moon, judging from the position, it was rougly 2247 hours. She remembered the note and decided to bite. She cleaned herself up and set off westward. She soon found the river and sat down, looking at her reflection in the water, she felt alone, lost. She looked around, waiting for the Pokemon to show up. She looked straight into the darkness and saw 5 yellow rings glow. "Crystal?" they asked. No way... he's dead! She thought, "Y-Yes? Who are you?" She shyly asked,
"Alive." The rings moved forward and a familiar shape emerged, an Umbreon with deep blue eyes, "Hello, Crystal." Lunar said softly, Crystal looked shocked, like she'd seen a ghost,
"B-But... You're dead! I saw... I saw you... the knife, the blood!" She said, looking confused.
"Well, I'm alive, and I'm here now." He smiled, Crystal began to cry for a third time that day, only this time, these were tears of joy, not sorrow. She ran into Lunar's arms, "I'm so glad you're back! I missed you so much! Because... I thought it was my fault that you thought I hated you... When in truth... it's quite the opposite... Because I... well... I... I-I love you..." She said quietly, Lunar returned the hug and said "I love you too," She rested her head on his shoulder and began to feel tired, the warmth and comfort of Lunar made her feel happy inside, as well and safe. "I'm tired, can we go back to your place?" She asked,
"Sure." Lunar and Crystal walked back to the Umbreon's den where they both went to the bedroom, they walked to the bed. Lunar stood over her, then collapsed next to her, they snuggled up to each other and fell asleep in each other's arms.
