 Chapter Four

'Wake up Elizabeth' a voice shouted through the fog in my mind, I tried to open my eyes, but they weren't being cooperative. I felt a weight that I hadn't realised was there being wrenched off of me. My eyes forced themselves open, revealing that I was in my own room, the weight had been my duvet. What the hell?! How did I get home?

'It's your first day of college Eliza, get out of bed' My mum said sternly, except her eyes were smiling. I pulled myself up slowly, waiting for my eyes to adjust to the brightness. I got up and pushed past my mum to the bathroom, I had my head down, I didn't want her to see the cuts and bruises, how on earth would I explain what had happened? That some weirdo caused the grass to wrap itself round my wrists and ankles, he horrifically  killed a woman in front of my eyes, told me that I liked the smell of blood, that it made me hungry and then I fainted and somehow ended up back in my room! She'd send me to the nuthouse. No way.

I locked the bathroom door, and leaned my forehead against the coolness of the oak, and let out a deep breath. I turned to examine myself in the mirror, I gasped and my hand instinctively covered my mouth. I looked fine. Better than I have ever looked in my whole life, my black hair looked thick and silky, my skin was a glowing porcelain and my eyes were a piercing bright blue, almost grey.

My wrists were clear of cuts, as were my ankles, there was not a single bruise or scar on my body. Not even the permanent scar from having my appendix removed when I was seven. My body was flawless. My breathing came in quick, laboured pants, it felt as if I was having a panic attack, I sunk to the floor and put my head between my knees, and tried to calm myself down, taking deep breathes until I was sure I would be OK. I slowly stood up, took a quick shower and brushed my teeth. I dried myself and my hair and padded back over to my room and got dressed. I put on a cream top, with a navy blue cardigan that stopped just below my upper thigh, I grabbed a pair of dark leggings and pulled on a black pair of working boots.

I grabbed my bag and black mac coat and ran downstairs.

'Aren't you going to have any breakfast Eliza?' My mum called from the kitchen.

'No time' I replied unlocking the front door 'I'll grab something from the canteen at college'7

  'OK Hun, bye love you'

'Love you too' I called, leaving the house and closing the door behind me. There are a few teens my age leaving their house about the same time as me. Well atleast I wasn't as late as I thought I was. I walked a little faster just incase, I managed to reach the bus stop by 20 past 8, perfect timing,I thought with a smile.

'What do you think she is?' I heard a female voice ask behind me.

'Not sure, I am not picking anything specific up' Another female voice replied 'It feels like a bundle of things, mixed togther, but nothing is coming to me...yet'.

'Damn' The first voice said.'How boring' I turned to see where these girls were, and why they had the audacity to talk about me behind my back. There was no-one directly behind me, i felt my face scrunch up in confusion, I looked over my shoulder and saw a group of girls looking at me about 200 metres away at the local one stop. Some other group must have been talking, surely. I thought doubtfully. I looked around at the bus stop, it was just me and five guys and a timid, mousy girl standing on her own. The other girls were making their way towards the stop now.

'She has to be one of them' The dominant girl whispered, she had long dark brown hair and was tall and willowy, her face had the delicate features of a pixi but the hardness of someone who knows what they want, and are not afraid to get it.

'How else could she have heard us;' The other chimed in, she on the other hand was short, but thin, she had short red hair that framed her face and elfin features, there was nothing hard in her face or eyes, as much as she would like to pretend.
