Klark’s POV
Going to different school every year sucks. Now I’m entering this new school and I have to cope up with everything that this school has.
“Hey, new kid!” someone called from behind me. I turned to where the voice is from and found a boy a few inches taller than me. “You should join this if you want to fit in.” he handed me, what looks like a flyer, and then he went off.
I looked at the guy disappear into the crowd of people with confusion. What the hell? I look at the flyer on my hand and found out it was a flyer for the school’s talent show next month.
The audition is tonight. You must prepare a two minute presentation of your talent.
Did that guy know that I could sing and play guitar?
No, he doesn’t. Then why did he give me this? Maybe he was just concern of me not fitting in or concerned about new kids not fitting in with the school population.
I guess I have to do what he wanted me to do then.
I went to class. I didn’t really pay much attention to what the teacher has to say about the subjects. I didn’t even have to elaborate the small details of my existence. My head was so preoccupied of what song I will perform later and whether I should play the guitar or just sing a cappela instead.
It’s already lunch and I haven’t decided whether I should play the guitar or sing a cappela, although, I have a song already on mind. I know the chords of the song but I don’t have my guitar with me.
Maybe I’ll go home for awhile and get my guitar. The audition doesn’t start at 7pm. After lunch I realized that my class later doesn’t end before 6. It ends at 6:30 and I have no time to go home and get back here on time for the audition. My only choice is to sing a cappela. If I get through this audition, I’ll play the guitar on the actual show next month.
The afternoon just went by in a blur. I looked at my wrist watch and found out that its quarter to seven already. I need to get to the gym right now in order for me to catch up.
The audition went by so fast that it was finally my turn to perform my own talent. I sang Say Something by A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera.
The judges liked my performance and I passed the audition. I have about three weeks to rehears my final song.

Three weeks has passed, school was fine and I have rehearsed my song once a day. I didn’t feel like playing the guitar because the song is perfect without the guitar. I’ll just have a minus-one of the song placing on the background as I sing the song.
Tonight is the night I’ll be performing. They have three special guests to witness and judge the talent show. I was really nervous when I found out that they were in a famous band, which means they are high standard persons.
The time went by fast, now it was time for every contestant to prepare themselves for the performances. I was getting ready myself back stage. I had my favorite blue dress that is floor length with my nude stilettos. I was the tenth person to perform in awhile.
Nine performances later, it was finally my turn. I went on stage with the microphone on hand, getting nervous as I got close to center stage. The back ground music started playing.

I finished the song and got loud applause from everyone. I even saw some people stand while clapping. I saw the three guest judges nodding at each other while clapping.
I just hope they liked my performance. I hope I get in the top three.
A few more contestants performed and after a while the judges had a deliberation and soon they have announced the winners.
I was lucky enough to get the third place. I was really hoping to get the first place but I’m happy I got to the top three. This means I still get to fit-in in this school.
After the whole program was over, I went to our school’s garden and just relaxed there. I was enjoying the cold night breeze when I heard some noise around the garden. At first I was frightened, thinking it would be a ghost but when the thing that was making the noise appeared.
“Gosh! You scared the hell out of me.” I said as he was clear in view.
“I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” He said. Just then I realized that he was one of the guest judges.
I just smiled at him, having nothing to say to him. “You know what, you were so good up there.” He said. “I can’t believe some student in this school has that kind of talent. I’ve been judging their talent shows and I never had encountered someone like you.”
“I’m new here.” I simple said.
“Oh, that explains why.” He uttered. “I felt bad you didn’t win, really. I was telling my two brothers that you were so good and you deserve to win, but they went against it.”
“Really? Well, it doesn’t really if I win or not, at least I would be able to fit-in with the school crowd.”
“Is that the reason you joined the talent show, just to fit-in?” he said in disbelief.
“Yeah. Is something wrong with it?” I asked confused.
“No, not really. It’s just that, they popular kids were just playing with you.” He said and I felt hurt about it, but I didn’t let it show, not in front of him though. “But at least you joined and the whole school has to see that really amazing talent of yours.”
I blushed a little after what I heard from him. “Thanks.” I said shyly.
“Anyways, I was wondering if I could take you out on a lunch tomorrow. Would it be fine with you?” he asked.
“Like a date?” I asked looking at him in the eyes.
“Yeah. If it’s fine.” He said looking right back at my eyes. I saw his eyes sparkle as he said those words.
“Well, I’m sorry. I have other plans tomorrow.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you have a special someone.” He apologized.
“No, not like that. I have to do some research. So I’ll be at the library for the next two days for it.”
“Okay, some other time maybe?” he tried again. I didn’t react right away.
It was obvious that he was trying to ask me out on a real date where every relationships starts.
“Umm... I don’t think so.” I said forcing a smile.
“I haven’t even ask you anything aside from a date but it’s obvious that I’m friend-zoned.” He murmured, but I was able to hear him. “Okay, I got to go. Thanks for your time anyways.”
After the awkward encounter with him, I never saw him again. I didn’t even know his name. All I know about him is that he is in a band with his two brothers.
It’s been a year I guess. I was glad this year I didn’t transfer to another school, I got to stay here. I’m quite known in the school after that talent show but I never was one of the popular kids. This year, I’m really excited to watch the talent show.
After that encounter with him after the show last year, made me realized I like him as well. I was regretting saying say no right away. It was not bad to say yes on a date. It’s just a date, it’s not like he was about to ask me to marry him, well that would be a different story right now. Maybe after saying yes to that date, I would be able to see him more often. But not seeing him after it was making me really know what I truly feel about that nameless man.
Tonight is the show, before the show started later that day, I went to the room where the three of them would be staying. I found him seating all alone.
“Hey.” I called out.
“Oh, hey there.” He looked up. “What brought you here?”
“I came here to see you.”
“What for?” he asked shocked.
“Just to say sorry about what happened last year.” I said.
“Nah! It was entirely my fault. I was taking things too fast back then.”
“Yeah, you were, but I’m really sorry, maybe I was just being paranoid at that time.” I said giggling.
He giggled with me. “So, if I ask to ask you now, would you go out with me?”
“Maybe.” I said grinning.
“Okay. Let’s have dinner now.” He proclaimed.
“Okay.” I said.
That night made all my regrets and frustrations, go away. After that night, we started going out and it ended up with us having a relationship.
A great relationship… Now I know his name. Riley. That will forever stay in my heart starting that night.
