"Dana" I called out her name as I sat on the side of the bed she laid in with her phone pressed to her ear, probably on the phone with her new boo. She looked at me and I could tell she had just recently cried
"Huh?"
"We about to run to the mall. You need anything while we on the way back?"
"What y'all going to the mall for?"
"Some shoes Kentrell saw in there the other day apparently"
"Oh.... I'm good"
"You sure?" I asked and she nodded
"Mhmmm"
I stood up off of the bed and left out of the room, going downstairs. I could hear the boys in the living room and I obviously came at the right time because apparently my name was the topic of discussion
"She act just like her sister cause I swear that be Noel ass" baby joe said as I slowly walked into the living room and Kentrell nodded
"Mane I swear I be ready to slap the fuck outta Noel ass"
"You aint slapping shit hoe" I quickly responded back while slapping him upside the back of the head and he instantly looked at me "bring ya ass on desean. Where Kemoni and Nasir at?"
"You got one mo time to hit me" he responded while Kemoni walked out of the kitchen with a thing of fruit snacks in her hand, chewing on one while momma followed behind holding Nasir
"Now I see why I had you and Dana four years apart. I don't know how you do this. And then Kaleb in there making a mess with Derek"
"Perks of being a grandma. Now imagine when Elena have kennedi"
"Tuh I already told Elena I know that baby gone be top notch boujie. She gone have to grow on me like Kemoni eventually did"
"Don't play my daughter" Kentrell defended her while she walked over to him and held her arms up so he picked her up
"Kennedi's gone be a boujie version of this lil spoiled hood rat right here" momma pointed at Kemoni and I laughed
"Kemoni is not a hood rat"
"TUH!"
I grabbed Nasir from her and she poked out her bottom lip while rubbing his back as he laid his head on my shoulder
"I think this gone be my favorite one. My little booga don't bother nobody. He always chillin until that big sister of his bother him"
"My daughter don't bother nobody. Y'all gone stay off her" Kentrell responded and I rolled my eyes
"Come on so we can hurry back" I annoying groaned before heading out the door and of course he followed me to the car we rented out for while we were here. We strapped the kids up and Kentrell hopped into the drivers seat while I got into the passenger seat then we headed down the road
I looked back in the back seat seeing Kemoni reaching over from her car seat to Nasir's, touching him
"Why you bothering my baby lil girl?"
She quickly looked at me some type of way and frowned "that MY baby"
"You heard her. That her baby" Kentrell laughed
"You and yo daughter got me fucked up"
Kentrell looked me up and down before looking at the road again. We started to ride in silence for a while until Kemoni decided to break it
"Daddy. My candy?" She asked and Kentrell looked up in the mirror confused
"What Candy?"
"My candy?"
"The hell Kemoni"
I laughed and looked back at her seeing her hands playing in her hair. She looked annoyed trying to explain the fact that she wanted some candy "MY CANDY"
"She wants candy desean"
"Oh. Why you ain just say that then lil girl?" He asked and I made a face while he quickly turned on the signal light and sharply turned into the gas station we were nearly about to pass
"Well damn. Break our necks for Kemoni to get some candy"
"You the only one complaining. Them niggas back they smiling"
I turned around and saw Kemoni and Nasir both smiling. Nasir was actually laughing a little while he grabbed his pacifier and put it into his mouth
"YOUR kids are psychotic" I told him as he pulled into a parking space and he laughed
"Just like they daddy" he responded while switching the car off and hopped out going to the back
"Who said I wanted to get out" I frowned and he unstrapped Kemoni
"Getcho ass out and come on"
Instead of arguing back I groaned and got out of the car, grabbing Nasir and followed him into the store. Nasir dropped his pacifier from his mouth as we entered the store and let out a hard sneeze
"Bless you papas" I used his bib and wiped his face while Kemoni took off running over to the candy isle
"Daddy my candy!" She excitedly yelled while bumping into somebody
"Uh oh. Excuse me" the woman said in a polite tone while holding a toddler on her hip the little girl looked like she could be around 3 or 4, very pretty with clean dark skin and her hair was styled into ponytails with bows on them. Once the woman looked in my direction I recognized her as Demetria, Trey and Deion's mom
"Noel?" She called out my name seeming surprised
"It's me"
She looked at Nasir, who was fascinated by the colors in the store, then at Kentrell and Kemoni who was already rummaging through candy while Kentrell helped her
"So I see y'all are still together... with kids"
"Of course. Why wouldn't we be?"
"Demetria you think Lana will drink these?" Another familiar voice asked, walking from behind me causing me to turn around. When I saw that it was Madison I noticed her face drop while she held a hug juice in her hand
"Mama. That mine?" The little girl asked Madison while reaching for the juice and I looked at the girl then Madison
"Hey noel" Madison softly responded and I nodded
"Hey"
She looked at Nasir for a second and Kemoni ran over to me
"Mommy look!" She held up a pack of skittles and I shook my head
"You ain't eating no skittles. Go try again"
She frowned and took off back over to Kentrell, handing him the skittles and he kept them in his hand while she picked up more candy causing me to shake my head
"Your kids are beautiful" Madison randomly told me and I nodded
"Thank you. And I'm guessing this is your daughter? She's adorable"
"Yeah. And thank you"
I nodded again and just as I was about to walk off she touched my arm, making Nasir look at her some type of way
"Noel!"
"What?"
"... I wanna apologize. About what happened between us. I was stupid and moody and I know what I did was wrong and I truly am sorry about that"
Hearing Madison apologize to me really made me laugh a little
"Madison that was in the past. I moved on with life, it's nothing to apologize about. I'm happily married with my two kids. I don't have time to focus on the past. It's all good.. y'all have a good day" I informed her before walking off, going over to where Kentrell and Kemoni was. Kentrell's hands were full of candy
"Okay that's enough. You cut off now" I took a pack of twizzlers out of her hand and put them back making her frown
"She havin fun. Leave her alone" Kentrell told me while she snuck and picked up a baby bottle pop, sliding it in his hand and I cocked my head to the side
"Kemoni..."
"Come on siir" Kemoni reaches her arms out for Nasir and Kentrell grabbed him from me
"Yeah come on siir. YOU go find you somethin to do while we look at some more candy"
I rolled my eyes and walked over to the drinks "that's why she spoiled now"
"Shut up" Kentrell rudely responded. While the sound of gunshots went off outside causing everybody in the store to drop to the ground. Kentrell held Nasir close to him while he quickly dropped down and shielded Kemoni
Soon the gunshots ended and Kemoni immediately started crying while a car sped off
"What the hell!?" I yelled out, literally crawling on the ground over to where Kentrell and the kids were. He handed me Nasir and jumped up while Kemoni boohoo cried
"Daddy. I want you"
He looked down at her and sighed "hold on real quick"
He looked out of the window of the store while the cashier peaked her head from behind the counter
"I don't think you should be that close to the window. Just wait until that pol-"
"Fuck you and the police" Kentrell rudely retorted before looking out the window again, immediately cursing out loud soon after
"What? What happened? What's wrong?" I asked him while Kemoni held onto me tight while I stood up.
"Who the fuck...." he started but immediately stopped and stormed outside causing me to go over to look out the window and I saw him heading to the car, which was now decorated with bullet holes
"What the fuck?" I cursed and Kentrell made his way back into the store, pulling out his phone looking anything but happy
"Who the hell shot up the car? WHY?" I asked and he looked at me, giving me a mean look and that's when I thought about it.. it had to be ty
"Y'all stay in here" he instructed to me while putting his phone up to his ear and walked out of the store again "Aye! Baby joe!..." he started talking on the phone as he left out and I sighed while bending down to calm Kemoni down while holding Nasir at the same time
