The clock strikes nine
and i'm still waiting for a sign,
For a notification---for a sudden beep
that wakes my phone from its sleep.
For your name to appear
On an electronic screen
Followed by a letter
That shows you remember.
A minute passed by,
There was nothing, no hello nor hi.
'Maybe he was busy
I'll wait a bit and see'
A minute, and another
And another and another
'Maybe he just read it late
I should consider that and wait'
Another minute and another
And another and another
'Maybe he had an emergency
Something more important than me'
Another minute and another
And another and another
'Maybe he was busy, busy, busy...
Or he had an emergency...'
The phone beeps
And my heart leaps
'Your load balance will expire on...'
And my heart sunk.
And i'm back to waiting
And expecting
Every minute that passes by
An ounce of my hope flies by
And the letter never came
I guess i'll wait for 9 o'clock again.
