i looked over at steve and dustin who were sharing a look, i pulled them back hoping they got the message to let the other two walk by.
"at the very best we're a toilet stop on you're way to disney," robin exclaimed.
after they were out of earshot dustin asked
"do you think the russians know?"
"obviously they do," i replied quickly
"like robin said why choose hawkins? unless they had a reason..."
"so it's connected?" steve asked.
"maybe," dustin replied
"how would they know though?" i questioned confused.
"i don't know but it's..." dustin started
"possible." we all said at the same time.
"is there something you three would like to share with the class?" robin asked sarcastically as her and erica were staring back at us.
we all shared a look and gave a shake of the head before we started walking but before we could say anything, the code started playing.
"the walkie!" we all said together.
robin pulled it out erica's bag and listened,repeating the code along with it "it's the code," she said
"and where ever it's coming from,"dustin said
"it's close!" robin finished his sentence.
after what felt like hours we reached the end of the tunnel, to what could only be described as a junction .
"come on, clear, let's go" steve said leading us down a hallway.
"that was close," robin stated.
"too close," i agreed
"relax," steve said trying to clam us down "alright relax nobody saw..."
we turned the corner to see a busy hub of commies walking about, some in lab coats others in full army gear others in what could only be called space suits.
"holy shit balls," i whispered taking robin and erica's hands to take us behind a cabinet so we weren't seen and killed by these russians with massive guns.
"red dawn!" dustin said shocked
"i saw it! first floor north west!" erica told us.
"saw what?"steve asked confused
"the comms room!" she exclaimed in a whispered voice.
"you saw the comms room!" he said.
"correct!" she replied
"and you are sure?" dustin double checked.
"positive. the door was open for a second and i saw a bunch of lights and machines and shit in there." she informed us.
"that could be 100 different things!" dustin said agitated.
"i'll take those odds," robin said to me and steve.
"yeah i'll risk it," i said squeezing her hand.
steve let's out an annoyed sigh.
"alright we're gonna move fast,
we're gonna stay low,
okay?" steve ordered
"okay," i replied as we ran over to hide behind some barrels
"move it!" steve called back to dustin as we ran behind another set of cabinets.
"let's go!" he says as someone leaves the room so we can sneak through.
just when we thought we were safe in the room, a man in army uniform was sitting there.
robin starts speaking russian to the man who was beyond bewildered.
as the man picked up his gun steve went charging at him screaming.
steve eventually managed to knock him out.
"dude, you did it, you won a fight!" dustin exclaimed grinning.
"nice one bud!" i said going into fist bump him.
dustin then ran over and got keycard from the passed out man.
"what are you doing?" erica asked confused.
"getting our ticket out of here!" he said in a 'duh' tone.
"so you wanna walk all the way back," she exclaimed.
""well, we can hang out for a little bit, relax, have a picnic maybe." he suggested sarcastically.
"have a picnic we came for the radio!" erica argued.
"this plan is way better, if i knew steve could knock out a russian that would've been the plan in the first place," dustin said the bickering giving me yet again another headache.
"you two better cut it out before i knock both of you out," i snapped making them shut up.
"guys there's something up there!" robin said out of breathe.
we ran up those stairs as fast as possible, i looked out the window i realised what it was.
"holy shit," me and dustin said at the same time.
it was the gate and they were opening it.
"you've seen this before?" robin asked as we rushed down the stairs.
"not exactly," steve answered.
"then what exactly?" she pushed for answers.
"all you need to know is it's bad," dustin said trying to move on.
"really bad," steve continued.
"like end of the world as we know it and possibly wipe out humankind bad," i finished .
"and you know about this how?" she questioned.
"i was stuck in that thing for what a week," i said pointing at the gate.
before the others could answer erica asked
"steve where's your russian friend?" as an alarm started to go off.
we ran through the control room and then the laser lab and finally got to a safe room where steve was holding the door.
" help me, help me!" steve called for back up as me and robin ran over to hold the door, to give the two younger ones time to escape.
"go! just go! get out of here!" he screamed at the two who were waiting at us.
"go come on now!" dustin told us.
"no just get some help okay?" steve ordered as we started to struggle to keep the door closed.
he took a couple of seconds before he he said "i won't forget you!"
"GO!" the three of us screamed at him as he dropped through the vent.
we let our body weight off the door and went flying into a wall, i screamed in pain, my hands flying up as i saw there were guns put up against us at every angle.
