Why I had both Ace and Seth mated/imprinted with Natalia
At first, I was only going to have her mated with Ace, but then I started to think about all the werewolves in the story that haven't imprinted yet.
My favourites are Embry and obviously Seth. And when I started to think more into Seth's character I realized how great the two would work. The reason why I was thinking this way was because Seth was always looked at as a kid who needed to be protected all the time because of his young age. He was kept out of things and of the fight with the newborn army just to keep him safe. Natalia on the other hand when she was still human was kept pretty much all her human life locked up in her home because of her status. They understand what it means to be treated like they are weaker and need to be protected all the time. Seth also lost his father in New Moon while Natalia lost her mother when she was only a baby. Yes, she never met her but that only made it worse, they both knew what it was like to lose a parent. Seth has also very childish behavior and is very easygoing with a pure mind which works well with Natalia who is very easygoing as well but also pure and innocent. They were able to help each other and understand each other by their past but also complete each other. I also needed someone to finally heal her. After what happened between Natalia and Ace her heart was shattered. Now I didn't use Seth just as someone who would heal her and then be thrown away, no he was used as someone who would make her who she used to be.
Another reason for Seth was that I wanted to have an imprint that in the end had a platonic relationship with their imprint instead of a romantic one. I looked through books and I personally couldn't find a book where the character didn't end up with the person that imprinted on them. Now I'm not saying that there isn't a book out there that made the imprint bond between the two characters platonic I mean I just never came across one. That was a bit funny for me and I just wanted to mix things up.
Now when it came to Ace it's a little different. Ace as a human had a very cold upbringing. He grew up with three older brothers, a strict/absent father and a mother. Because of his past, he grew colder than he already was making him not able to feel love or care towards another person. When his father hired a man to kill him it was like the final thing that made him the cold person that he became. He wasn't close with his family but he would have never wanted to harm them before. He became emotionless and quite rude, he was able to seem cocky and arrogant only to make himself seem less broken. Natalia being so pure and innocent made him feel love for the first time. Even as a human he still didn't believe in the aspect of love and never imagined himself having a family. She was the only good thing that happened in his life. He was different for her, he was good for her. She healed the bruises that his family gave him. She gave him hope that there was still some good left in the world. For her he helped her by bringing fun into her life, he was able to be unexpected and irrational at times making the girl's somewhat peaceful life colorful. She brought him love and peace while he brought her the unexpected and adventures. He brought out a completely different person in her.
Why Natalia didn't use her powers too often
Firstly I just want to point out that Natalia is a pacifist at heart, she knows the abilities she has but she doesn't like to use them unless she really needs to, she likes to believe she can solve problems with words, at least try first. She also grew up with a father who was hungry for power, she first hand witnessed what power did to people and how it corrupted some.
Why Natalia didn't really like Bella at the beginning
Alright so at the very beginning before New Moon Natalia wasn't very fond of Bella because she was scared of losing her family. She had lost so many people prior to that like her mother, father, and Ace that she couldn't imagine losing them too. When it comes to the people she cares about and treats like family she is able to become utterly ruthless in their defense.
Then when she saw the relationship between Jacob and Bella Natalia became weary of Bella because she was scared Edward would have been hurt by Bella just like Natalia was by Ace. Natalia was scared that Bella would just leave Edward and break his heart.
What Alec felt for Natalia
Okay, so the deal with Alec was that she obviously wasn't his mate but he was very intrigued by her. She was beautiful and so good that he couldn't help but feel something for her. She was so much different than anyone in the Volturi that he just couldn't help but feel some sort of pull towards her.
In the first chapters of the book, I mentioned how Aro told Alec to get closer to Natalia so she would stay because of him. What I meant by this was that Aro wanted to force a mate bond between the two vampires because he knew if Alec became Natalia's mate she would have to stay. But obviously, you can't force a mate bond between two vampires.
The reason why I also had this connection between the two was that before I even started to write the book and I was thinking about potential mates for my main character my first thought was to pair her up with Alec but that idea was later thrown away when I made Ace.
Why Jane didn't like Natalia
It wasn't because she was jealous of the way Alec felt towards her or that Aro wanted her so much in the guard. Jane didn't like her too much because she knew Natalia didn't feel anything back to Alec leaving him slightly crushed. She was angry with the girl that she didn't feel anything back to her brother which caused him pain.
Why Ace goes by his nickname instead of his name Romeo
What you have to understand about him is that after what happened between him and his father he closed himself off, he didn't want to be close to anyone because if even his family didn't care enough about him why should someone else? Him introducing himself by his nickname to other people was a way to automatically build a wall between them so they couldn't hurt him. When he finally told Natalia his real name it was when he had truly welcomed and embraced their relationship. He had, of course, loved her before but it was at that moment when it really clicked.
Another reason was when he left his family behind he started to introduce himself by a nickname as a sign of starting off new.
Why Christina looked like Natalia.
So I had come up with the idea of Chrissy only at the end, right when I was ending the book, it had come to me in a blink of an eye.
So let's start with the beginning, Christina is obviously Natalia's doppelganger as I mentioned many times before from her mother's side bloodline. Christina only shares the same face as Natalia and nothing else, their characteristics are completely different. While Natalia is open and a complete sweetheart, Christina has an edge to herself and is able to be clumsy and awkward at a time.
If you have ever watched vampire diaries then it's something along the way of Tatia, Katerina and Elena but not exactly.
The reason why Seth had such a reaction to Chrissy was that some part of her was just like Natalia's. What I need to clear up is that Christina wasn't Seth's imprint. Natalia still stayed as his imprint but because of her being Natalia's doppelganger, it made Seth have a weird connection with the girl.
I also chose to make Christina for Seth to have someone at the end of the book. Giving him just a new character that had nothing to do with Natalia would just be something stupid for me to do because it would have made no sense. With Christina being Natalia's doppelganger it meant that she was pretty much her but in a human form.
Also if Natalia hadn't been changed into a vampire by Carlisle when she was dying then yes Christina would have been Seth's imprint.
The main deal behind it is that Natalia should have died back in the 1700s but when she didn't it was like going against Mother Nature you know?
The Twins
Ah, my beloved witch twins that you would have only found out if you stayed for the bonus chapters. I actually came up with the idea of the two when I started to write the bonus chapters. I knew deep down that to truly give Natalia a happy ending I would need to give her a child. I mean we all know that it's something she always dreamed about but now that she was a vampire she just couldn't have.
So I started to really think this through and how it would work. I couldn't just have her adopt a random human kid because the Volturi would have gone after them because the kid would know about the existence of vampires and would be a danger to their existence. It would be pretty much the ending of New Moon all over again.
Anyway so then I realised I could go with the team of them being witches.
Before I continue I would just like to explain that the way I made the witches work in my book I didn't use any shows or movies so if the way they become full pledged witches or whatever didn't go with the vampire diares it's because that wasn't my intention.
So as I was saying I came up with the idea of them being a witch/warlock. They would have found out about vampires either way so it didn't make a difference and they would be immortal in my book so it was a perfect way of giving my beloved OC what she wanted.
In the beginning, I was only going to go with one child but after I couldn't decide on going with a girl or boy I just went with both and I'm really glad I did.
Also as you may have noticed from the prophecy the twins aren't normal witch twins. I mean I'm the author of this book, did you really think I wouldn't leave you with a mystery at the end of the book? ;)
The Originals
So as I was writing the book A LOT of you really shipped Natalia with the Originals and honestly, for a second I was about to change everything so it would have been an Original fanfic but then I decided against it but for all those out there wondering who she would have been with this is what the relationships would have been like.
Natalia and Elijah - Something like she has with Carlisle. He would be the one she would turn to with all the problems and stuff like that. They would have been REALLY close and he would be like her older brother. She would also be the person he would turn to when he needed a second opinion on something.
Natalia and Rebekah - Like Rosalie. They would have a very strong sister-like relationship.
Natalia and Hayley - Best friends relationship like with Althea.
Natalia and Marcel - Something along the lines of her and Jeremy.
Natalia and Klaus - Something like with Edward. They two would be like best friends but he would be like her older brother. Because of her personality, she would be someone Klaus would always be able to trust.
Natalia and Kol - You may already know from my name that Kol is my favourite XD. They would have a romantic relationship like she has with Romeo/Ace.
