Although it was my 22nd birthday, I really wasn't feeling it. Once Noel went home from the hospital I headed back out here to LA and I've been practically alone since Donovan is always at practice.
"Awe look at aunties big boy. His face stay bawled up"
"Looking just like his daddy" Noel responded as she put the camera back on her, eating a piece of mango
"It's pretty quiet on that end of the phone. Where Kemoni and Kentrell?"
Noel rolled her eyes "he took her at some ice cream or some shit. Talking bout a damn daddy daughter time. His ass been getting the run around between her and Nasir"
"Betcha it's a lot harder balancing two kids than one spoiled one"
"It really is. Especially since Kemoni is so spoiled. When she sees Nasir getting more attention than her she throws a fit and I told Kentrell it's his fault. And he still ain't making shit better"
"Kemoni is his babygirl. That ain't gone change. Just wait till Nasir gets a little older, watch how bad Kentrell gone have him spoiled" I told her as I walked from the mailbox and headed back up to our large 3 bedroom house
"Where you at?"
"Home"
"I wish I could've came out there for your birthday. Ion like you being alone like this. And ion like that he moved you out there just to be alone. Especially on your birthday"
"Well he gotta work" I shrugged as I walked back into the house "he said he'll make it up to me for missing today anyways"
"He better do a lotta making up too"
I walked into our kitchen and propped my phone up on the counter while I opened up the mail
"I gotta run to the shop anyways to see how it's looking out there. They finishing the last little bit of touch ups in the store and putting out the clothes then I can get ready for the grand opening"
"You need to let me know when that's happening so I can head out there. Hopefully this baby weight will be gone so I can look snatched when I come out there"
"It'll be in December. Cause January I gotta finish planning this lil wedding" I sighed
"Oh y'all still gone do it?"
"Yeah. I know I was having second thoughts but now, it's like I trust him and he ain't gave me a reason not to"
"Wellllll... I support any decision you make. But just make sure you making the right one"
"I think I am" I responded as Nasir started to cry so she reached over and picked him up
"What's wrong with Auntie's baby"
"Probably hungry. Cause he act just like his daddy, he don't cry or fuss unless he want something to eat"
"Oh bitch" I laughed as she grabbed a bottle from behind the camera and started to feed him
"But anyways. When is this wedding supposed to happen?"
"We were looking at February 20th"
"Okay, Bet.... you stil-"
"Mama!" Kemoni's loud voice quickly cut Noel off and I smiled as I saw her in the corner of the camera as she walked over to Noel running her mouth about god knows what
"Kemoni Whatchu over there talkin bout?" I asked and she looked around the room trying to figure out where I was at. Once Noel turned her towards the camera she started smiling hard and grabbed the phone, walking off with it while her face was all in the screen
"Kemoni give me my phone back girl"
"No" she responded to Noel with a evil little grin and I could hear Kentrell laughing. Next thing I know, the FaceTime call ended and I laughed
"That Child is bad as shit" I said to myself while I picked up my phone and saw Tip, the girl that's gonna be managing my store for me when I'm not there, texted me
Tip
Hey! When you aren't busy can you stop by the store. They finished up everything early this morning
I sighed and texted her back that I was on my way before grabbing my keys off of the island and headed out of the house to my store which was a good 15 minutes away. Once I reached the store I parked right in front of the store and turned the car off
"Happy Birthday to me" I sighed and hopped out of the car, closing and locking my doors behind me. I guess Tip saw me as soon as I pulled up because she opened the door with a smile as soon as I walked up to it
"How you doing?"
"Straight" I blandly responded while walking in, immediately stopping once I saw the store was completely done. It was extremely beauty from the white marble floors to the light purple walls. The signs, decorations, detail. It was perfect.
"Soooo, How you like?" Tip asked
"It looks great"
"And it's done right in time so now we can go ahead and start the hiring process, get the clothes put out and everything in time for the grand opening"
I nodded and walked around the store, going over to the register and leaned back against it looking around. This store was something I've wanted and everything his looking how I imagined, however even though it's physically here I still feel like a lot is missing.
"Elena, you good?"
I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and nodded
"My bad. I'm good"
She looked at me with a concerned face "you sure? You seemed like you was pretty out of it"
"I'm sure. It's just been a long day"
My phone alerted me that I had a text message so I looked at it and saw a message from Kd, wishing me a Happy Birthday and telling me he wishes nothing but the best for me. I looked at the message for a little bit before responding
"That must be Donovan gotchu smiling like that"
I looked up from the phone and locked it before sitting it on the register before walking to another section of the store that was desperate from the main part by two columns. The walls in this area were white and there was a bench installed on the far right wall. This was gonna be the kids department
"I meant to ask you, what made you wanna do a kids department?"
"Cause when my niece comes out here she already know she gone be included in whatever auntie got going on. That's why it's gonna be some little toys to keep the kids occupied while the parents shop for them. I might even add baby and toddler boy clothes in there too cause Nasir, Kaleb and Bryson gotta have love too"
"Oh so you an auntie of 4. How cute. You ever thought about having kids"
I shrugged "not really at first. But you know, I've been basically out here by myself since July and it does get lonely sometimes. But I wanna make sure I'm ready for a kid first"
"What more can you be ready for? You engaged to a professional basketball player, living in a nice house, you got your own business"
"All that glitters ain't gold" I reminded her and she nodded.
"True"
I walked to the back where all of the clothes were currently stored and grabbed a box cutter, opening one of the boxes then pulled out a pair of rainbow furry slides
"These are cuteee" I said out loud as I took off my PINK slides and put them on. Tip walked into the room where I was and looked down at the slides
"Those are cute. You should keep them and post 'em on Instagram to let everybody know the kind of stuff you gone have in here"
"I already post a couple of pieces. I might post these too"
I slid them off and picked them up before putting my other ones back on. We continued to look at the stuff in the boxes and eventually Tip looked up at me
"So how long you and Donovan been together"
"For a while" I vaguely answered because unless you one of my sisters or close friends, you don't deserve to know specifics concerning my relationship. She nodded and I could hear my phone ringing in the front so I headed in that direction and saw my dad calling me, somebody I haven't spoken to in months, probably a year
"I'll just call him back later" I mumbled while I let the phone ring. Once his call ended I saw messages from Ben, Makayla, Kentrell, Noel and Liyah

I laughed at the messages and put my phone in my back pocket, picked my keys up and looked at Tip who was smiling in her phone
"Talkin bout me. Who you over there textin?"
"Just my boo"
I rose my eyebrow "you ain't told me you had a boyfriend"
"We're very discreet about our relationship"
"Oh. Well you should invite him to the grand opening"
She nodded and locked her phone "speaking of. You need to go ahead and send me the date and time so I can get these flyers out and this social media page going"
"I'll decide on that tonight and I'll text you tomorrow to let you know the official information. Cause I gotta make sure my family will be available for then"
"Okay then"
"Well I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'm bout to go home and get all of this stuff together plus finish planning for this wedding"
" sounds like a lot" she laughed a little while throwing her hair over her shoulder and I nodded while walking out
"It is.. I'll talk to you later, don't forget to turn all the lights off and lock up"
"Okay" she responded as I exited the store and headed back to my car
