six days left until audrey and christina left to new york.
no one talked about it, they just tried to ignore it, acting like nothing was going to happen.
daniel was broken inside, he was going to have to break someone's heart in six days.
he didn't show it, of course, but audrey could tell something was off with him, and talked to him.
or well, tried to talk to him.
"what's wrong, dani?" they were seated on daniel's couch, christina and corbyn had just left a few minutes ago to go out and watch a movie.
"nothing, love," daniel replied, turning his body away from audrey as best as he could without it being too obvious.
well, i'm gonna break your heart in six days.
"did i do something wrong?" audrey asked, touching daniel's shoulder lightly.
"no, babe, i promise nothing's wrong, i'm just a little stressed, there's some stuff from the studio that's not working out."
no, not really it's just that i'm going to have to tell you that we're not working out in six days.
audrey turned daniel to face her, swinging a leg over his lap so she was straddling him, her broken hand on top of daniel's shoulder as her good arm grasped his hand.
daniel reacted immediately, pulling audrey closer to him and kissing her lips passionately, his arms now around her waist.
his lips went lower, peppering kisses from audrey's jaw to her collarbone, leaving a trail of marks as he kept traveling downwards.
audrey pushed back a little, panting as she smiled.
"let's go to the bedroom."

three hours later, daniel laid awake, staring at the ceiling. his eyes wouldn't close, and he couldn't even think about sleeping.
audrey had passed out about two hours ago, completely exhausted, even though she said she would wait until daniel fell asleep. now, her head rested against daniel's bare chest, her body rising up and down with each peaceful breath.
daniel's hand ran through audrey's soft hair, calming him down. he reached for his phone, turning the brightness down immediately as it turned on, unlocking itself.
after scrolling mindlessly through instagram, he had an idea, and texted a few people, waiting for them to respond, but daniel let out a yawn, his eyes starting to close.
he placed his phone back on the side table, pulling audrey closer to him as his slowly fell asleep.

"something's wrong with him," audrey said.
her, christina and tate were in the car, driving to get some coffee. audrey was in the back seat, christina in shotgun, and tate was driving.
"what do you mean?" christina asked, looking at audrey. "he seems okay, a little sad that you're leaving, but okay."
"something about him is off," audrey said. "i don't know if i did something, but he's been super distant. i'm honestly kinda scared."
"did you try to talk to him?" tate asked, maneuvering the car into a parking spot near the coffee shop. "jonah told me that unless you actually ask daniel what's wrong, he won't say anything."
"yeah, i asked," audrey replied, "but he said it was stuff at the studio that wasn't working out."
christina frowned. "corbyn told me that they were doing great in the studio, daniel's been coming up with a bunch of lyrics."
audrey bit her lip. "so why's he lying to me?"
"i don't know, but let's get some coffee and talk about it later, okay?" tate asked, and the three girls got out of the car.
with their coffee in their hands, the girls walked to a booth inside the shop, sitting down.
"okay, so about daniel, what do you think is wrong?" tate asked.
"i don't know, i honestly thought everything was okay, but-," audrey gasped, her eyes wide as she looked at tate.
"what?" tate questioned, eyes meeting audrey's.
"julian. maybe julian's doing something, he hasn't reached out to me at all, what if he's blackmailing daniel of sometjing?"
christina's brow furrowed, as she looked at audrey in confusion. "do you really think that julian's doing that? i thought he had given up. didn't he work out some deal with their manager or something?"
"what if the deal was for daniel to break up with me?"
"but you are broken up, at least to everyone except for us," tate said, her voice a little quieter, so no one except for audrey and christina could hear her.
"do you really think julian doesn't know that we aren't actually broken up?" audrey asked. "this is the same psycho that snuck into jonah's party."
"okay, i'm gonna be honest here," christina said her voice careful. "i don't think julian's doing anything. it just seems a little...far-fetched. maybe you're overestimating him."
"no, i'm not," audrey said, rapidly shaking her head. "you don't know what he's capable of."
"but do you really think he would make daniel break up with you? it's not like daniel would do that, right? and you wouldn't just let him break up with you," tate added, taking a sip of her coffee.
"just have sex and everything will be fine," christina announced.
"i already tried that," audrey muttered, "it was great as always, but it went back to him being distant in the morning."
tate hummed in thought, looking around the cafe. "maybe i could have jonah ask him if anything's going on with him?"
"no," audrey shook her head. "i don't wanna pull anyone else into this, whatever we said here, stays here, okay?"
christina and tate nodded.
"i should talk to julian," audrey said, pulling her phone out.
christina grabbed her arm, stilling her movements. "do you really think that's the best idea? we don't even know if he's the reason anything's happening."
"well, what else, or who else do you think it could be?"
tate looked at christina, and they seemed to have a silent coversation with their eyes.
"audrey," tate started, taking a breath. "maybe, maybe daniel thinks you guys are just a fling, you know? like he isn't expecting a long term relationship like you are."
audrey's hands flew to her pearl necklace, as she shook her head again. "no, no, i don't believe that, he loves me. he tells me everyday he loves me, he isn't throwing that all away when tina and i leave, okay?"
christina sighed, giving audrey a side hug, "babe, i know it sounds horrible, but maybe she is right. daniel isn't really known for having relationships."
audrey stood up, her head still moving side to side, disagreeing with everything that was being said.
"i cant believe, you guys, my friends, would say this about my relationship." she said, her voice breaking as tears burned her eyes. "i'm leaving."
she walked out, leaving tate and christina looking at each other, pure worry and sadness in their eyes.
"i can't believe we had to do that," christina whimpered.
"you know what daniel said this morning, we have to do it, for the band's sake as well as audrey's. if daniel doesn't break up with her, everything's done for."
christina closed her eyes. "i can't believe julian's making daniel break her heart."
