For consecutive days, k-netizens and international fans are rejoicing for the simple fact that their idols gathered in one prestigious music award of the year. Fancams resonated over the internet, garnering hundreds of thousands of views in minutes. The collaboration of the two groups was the subject in many social media—YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or even news in televisions.
It received massive positive impact from many fans worldwide and asked for another collaboration in which their agencies hadn't released an official statement yet.
Most ArmyOnces were joyed about it and most Bangtwice ships raged over the internet. But one shined the most.
It even trended on Twitter.

Ironic it is but it started because of a rose.

After having their rehearsal in JYP, BTS and Twice moved their last practice a day before MAMA in the actual stage where the music awards will be held. Of course, there were lineups for other idol groups that is why it took a while to have their turn. But successfully, the final rehearsal went pretty well.
Now, the day had come.
The day all had anticipated.
The red carpet for MAMA just happened minutes ago and all idol groups who are invited or nominated in the occasion had been in their respective seats inside the grandiose venue. Korean Mc's professionally delivered the grand opening. Monitors were placed near the idol groups for better viewing and the main monitor was displayed at the center of the stage for everybody to see. Expectedly, BTS and Twice are seated next to each other like as other music awards they attended to. Many are curious about, whether their agencies decided them to be closed to each other or purposely, it may be a coincidence.
All idol groups had greeted the audience and their smiles were fully shown in cameras. Girl groups were elegant as ever, they wore long ankle-length dresses with shimmering and glittering accessories in hand. Twice looks like sophisticated women. Sure, their stylists pull it off a couple of times now.
Boy groups were styled in formal black suits. They look pretty manly and intimidating at some point. Just like other times, BTS stole the spotlight with their unique tastes in black suits with their different hair colors that perfectly matched their outfits.
The music awards began.
Solo artists and singers performed their latest songs.
Momoland, another Korean girl group performed 'I'm so Hot', their latest song in their comeback this year, which undeniably, received loud applause from the audience.
TXT, BTS' junior group were the next to own the stage. In contrast, their style is more identifiable compared to BTS. They have their own standpoints and each boy group has their own charisma and appeal.
It goes on forever. In between the performances of an idol group, intermission numbers were given to solo artists or even for other groups in different agencies. In maybe a music award, but it definitely looked like a concert for the fans.
BTS just finished their group performance on Boy with Luv that happened an hour ago. This time, it was Twice's turn. The girl group left their seats and proceeded to the backstage in a hurry. They'd be performing after Blackpink, which is a delight because the girl group from YG had their time to shine and attend MAMA this year.
"I'm so nervous," Momo muttered.
Stylists, makeup artists, and technicians were doing their best to fill the needs of the girls right now. Twice's waiting room was jammed-packed but everything was flowing according to plan. A small monitor was displayed inside to view the current performing artists in the stage before them.
"Girls, gather up," Jihyo stated which attract the attention of the members.
Their earpiece was now fixed. Their makeups were applied again for a fresher look and they've changed from formal attire to their chic and young costumes that fit the concept of their song 'Fancy'.
The nine girls formed in a circle.
They gazed at each other as if it is their first time to perform this song, which in fact isn't.
"Whatever happens, just do your best." Jihyo encouraged and smiled widely.
The rest of the members nodded in response.
"You heard what Jihyo said?" Jeongyeon said. "Let's do our best, enjoy the time and dance the night away!"
The members chuckled, delighted or somewhat motivated to perform this end year. Watching the members in their ups and downs, Jeongyeon knew she had bigger responsibilities than being an idol, she knew she has to be a sister to them—a sister to these eight girls.
Tzuyu, Twice's maknae, quirked a small yet genuine smile.
"Aja!"
Twice compressed themselves together and placed their hands atop of each other, like the ones in sports games, where all players gather together before the game. They smiled and it felt magical at a certain moment of time.
"Twice, fighting!"
The dark stage lightened as they appeared from the bottom compartment of the stage. Cheers mostly coming from male Onces echoed over the venue. Ocean of candy bongs was seen transitioning from blue, green, white to various colors. BTS was slightly bewildered of how many male fans Twice got.
First, they performed 'What is Love?' Then, 'Yes or Yes. And lastly, 'Fancy'.
BTS, especially Namjoon, can see the vast improvement Twice had gone through. Their voice became more stable and their synchronization is seriously not a joke. With a group of nine members, it really is hard to maintain a just movement in dancing. And one thing that made them more standout is their professionalism. Even exhausted and tired, Twice never fails to smile and enjoy every time they perform. The energy and humbleness.
The crowd cheering for them after they've finished were massive in number. It amazes other groups in particular.
BTS enjoyed it. Jimin never left his stare on the stage, on a specific person. Ever since they've begun to rehearse, or even before the news came out, it started to bug him for a while now. Working with Jeongyeon somewhat feels indifferent but at the same time, it felt right for him. But Jimin knows work shouldn't be mixed with such useless emotions right now.
Past is past. They broke up. End of story.
But otherwise, it showed the opposite. Something in Jimin's eyes, it spoke differently. There was still something left. And the thing is, he is the only one who could feel it.
A staff neared them and whispered some instruction to Namjoon who was seated at the latter part. BTS' leader nodded, indicating he had understood what has been said to him, seconds after, the staff left.
Jimin waited for him to relay the information and expectedly, Namjoon gave all of them a signal.
"We have to go to the backstage." Namjoon stood up and encouraged the other members to do so.
"The managers and staff are waiting for us."
BTS maneuvered all their way to the backstage whom they met Twice, currently taking a quick rest before the next performance. It took them no time to greet each other because of the hectic schedule and it's been quite crowdy inside.
Their waiting rooms are seated next to each other which gave the staffs enough time and great accessibility to prepare the two groups for the upcoming performance which is their collab dance, Boy with Luv x Fancy.
Interestingly, BTS and Twice share the same hair stylists which will take a couple of minutes to prep their hairstyles. Separated at the moment, both groups began to run down the steps in their minds or even when looking at the mirror, glamoured by the staffs. Twice changed again in their third outfits for this day, fancier than ever and BTS pampered themselves with colorful suits their stylists had prepared for them.
"Listen up!" The main coordinator announced.
"We've got only twenty-five minutes left to prepare. Five minutes before the performance, everyone will be pulled-out to have a final talk with Twice in the other room. Arasso?"
"Ne!"
"Arasso!"
BTS cheered even busily attended to other things. Jungkook saw him exited the room and went to the other one, which he believed is to announce the same information to the girl group.
BTS' main manager, Manager Sejin neared and opened the metallic briefcase he had been holding a while ago. It showed the different earpieces BTS had personally designed with a certified artist. It was eye-catching, unique and magnificent to look at. Without time to spare, one by one, they began to fix their earpiece according to their comfort when moving and singing.
On the other room, Twice is in the last phase of prepping clothes, hair, and makeups. They haven't removed their earpiece which made it easier for them to further compose themselves before their anticipated performance.
"Ten minutes left!" They said.
None of Twice members answered at the moment because they were to drown with their preparations. All of them were in different corners of the room, some were facing the mirror and executing the steps, one of them is Jeongyeon.
After the rehearsal, she had constantly practiced in front of the mirror either in her bedroom or whenever randomly she thought of it. She was nervous that she might fail or embarrass herself in front of the crowd. Nevertheless, she kept herself motivated and swayed away from the negativity.
"Gather up!"
A voice was heard from the other side and every member of the group hurriedly met backstage, near the main stage, where they can hear the howls, screams, and cheers of the fans. They were hidden, of course.
BTS and Twice circled together and ducked their head low. The ceiling was lying low on their heads which made it harder. They had planned to appear from the base of the stage, wherein they'll be raised from a platform to the surface of the stage. This way, it looks more unique and had an eye-catching introduction.
"Guys," Namjoon started. "Just recall what we practiced and everything will be fine. Hm? Don't overthink too much and just enjoy everything while it's still here. Okay? God bless to everyone."
Jihyo smiled once they made eye contact.
Both leaders are quite burdened because of the weight of this performance. Everybody had been waiting for it and it's been the talk of the town since the news came out. And it would be their guilt if it hadn't been furnished to perfection.
"Yes." Jihyo second the motioned. "You heard it right? Don't feel bad when you had mistakes during the performance. We are here as a group. I hope everybody keeps that in mind."
Like before, they compressed themselves together and placed their hands atop each other and shouted...
"Fighting!"
For seconds, Jimin and Jeongyeon had unintentionally made eye contact but no one pulled away from that easily. Jimin could evidently see that she is nervous. Well, everybody is but he knew that it is because of the difficult step she had encountered on their first day of practice. She might be scared to make the same flaw again, Jimin thought.
Instead of letting it slide away, Jimin nodded and further encouraged her by gazing at her, using non-verbal cues to communicate. In return, Jeongyeon nodded and smiled a little that had faded instantly.
It was enough to keep going. All of them went over their respective places. It had begun. Technicians and staffs sent signals for them to understand it is their time to be lifted from the platform. First, it was Momo and Hoseok. The cheers went wild for the first pair. Second, goes for Yoongi and Jihyo. Now, it was constant. Fans were screaming. Next, it was Jeongyeon and Namjoon. The bright light almost blinded them once they've reached the surface but all was good.
The upbeat instrumental music resonated over the place. It was as if it is a Bangtwice concert with all the Army bombs and Candybongs light sticks.
Next to appear is Jimin and Mina. The screams were ear-piercing. Jungkook and Tzuyu were the next ones and it became louder. Now it was Jin and Nayeon, both the eldest members and Dahyun and Chaeyoung. And lastly, Taehyung and Sana.
The background was dark. One spotlight was directed to each of the pairs having the introductory part. They danced in unison and the crowd never stopped from cheering. The lights were gleaming and it was a magical thing to see. Light bloomed in, giving each of the members' clarity to see and to be seen.
The background went dark again.
This time, the stage lightened in various colors and the introductory instrumental part of Fancy and Boy with Luv began to play.
They were in a window position just like what they had rehearsed. Jimin was the first one to appear and sing the first verse. The screams were uncontrollable. The light sticks were in continuous motions as they follow the beat of the music. And then Mina. She sang so confidently with her long hair and perfect bangs. It was now Taehyung's turn. Followed by Momo. And Jungkook with a voiceover of Sana.
The chorus came up and their position was now changed into a V shape. It was where Jimin and Jeongyeon would take the center part just like what they had practiced. As the camera zooms in with the both of them, the screams became louder, roaring and thunderous even. The light sticks were insanely moving as if the fans were overjoyed to see Jimin and Jeongyeon share the stage.
Successfully, Jeongyeon had executed the step properly. It was now Jihyo and Nayeon's turn followed by the second verse with Yoongi and Chaeyoung's rap together with Hoseok. It was perfect, even how fast the beat is, they were professional enough to do the steps amazingly.
Tzuyu's voice was soft. The chorus kicks again and it was the same thing happened, Jimin and Jeongyeon as the center of the attention. Seconds after, it was Mina's turn again with the bridge part. Followed by Sana, Nayeon, and Jihyo. Namjoon's rap came at the place which made the crowd go wild. Jin's voice was great followed by Dahyun.
For another round, the final chorus came which made Jeongyeon and Jimin move at the center aisle. They danced together and made several eye contacts. Jeongyeon didn't know she was enjoying it; all her fears were set aside at the moment.
Jimin was happy and joyed to see it. It was as if, she had been confident about it. Her smile, the way her eyes twinkled against the light. All Jimin could see is her at this time. Jimin smiled softly as he coordinates with the movements. Jeongyeon made a sharp turn and finally faced him, their faces inches away from each other just like what happened before.
This time, many are witnessing them together. Their faces flashed onto the wide monitor and even an ordinary fan could see there was something else in their eyes. It isn't only the joy of performing, but it was way more than that.
Instead of maintaining the eye contact, Jimin tore away and fished something from one of the compartments of his suit.
Exactly, as the song came to an end, Jimin was holding a rose.
Just like in their music video.
It was a red rose.
He was waiting for her to notice it. Jeongyeon's eyes widen. She was hesitant at first and she neither do not know what to do but knowing they are publicly seen by everybody, she composed herself and accepted the rose Jimin had given and prepared.
What was truly intriguing, Jeongyeon recalled, that they hadn't planned anything like this. She remembered that when the song ends, the background will turn black again and that is the time they will exit the stage. Not like this. They hadn't planned anything like this. Jimin giving her a rose? Nothing.
Jeongyeon only stared at him while holding the flower at her fingers. She was bewildered... speechless. She doesn't know, the camera focuses onto them, catching the romance blossoming between the two.
The crowd suddenly went silent.
And the lights went off.

After the performance, reaching their waiting room, Jeongyeon kept the rose to herself. Curiously, she examined the flower for a couple of seconds. Her eyebrows suddenly creased upon seeing a small rolled red paper at the stem of the rose. It was taped upon it. Carefully, Jeongyeon released it from the tape and opened the paper.
There were written words.
Jeongyeon silently read it.
'Will you give me another chance?'
