You were walking up to a girl that you knew of, you both spoke a bit in your chemistry class.
Shin Yuna
You and here have talked for a while now since you both were chemistry partners and today you were going to ask her out...again.
You thought you both had good chemistry...heh...and you thought she was nice and all.
You got to the view of her locker and saw her.
Her recently dyed red hair was making her stand out.
She was very pretty you thought.
'Here we go again...'
You took steps towards her.
"Hey Yuna?"
She turned her head at you and smiled a bit.
"Hey (YN), what's up?"
You licked your lips.
"I...I was wondering if you..."
And you just blanked out.
She blinked a few times, feeling uncomfortable by your gaze.
"You okay?" She asked.
You shook your head as her voice brought you back.
"Y-yeah...yeah sorry, I was wondering if you..." You froze again.
"Are you okay (YN)?"
"If you...if..."
'Say it!'
"...If you c-can lend me your chemistry notes from yesterday." You asked nervously.
"Oh, yeah sure." She got a notebook from her locker and handed it to you.
"Thanks, I'll return it at class, sorry for taking your time." You said quickly and walked away embarrassed.
Yuna just stared at your back.

You just laid your head down on you desk.

"What happened this time?"
You turned your head to see your best friend.
Chou Tzuyu.
She just sat in the seat in front of you as she placed her notebook and pencils on the desk and turned around to see your head just planted on the desk.
"I was going to ask Yuna out..."
"Again?"
You brought your head up and Tzuyu giggled.
"My misery funny to you?" You asked jokingly.
"No pabo...your forehead. There's a big red mark on it." She continued giggling.
You rolled your eyes as you slightly laughed as well.

You two grew up together since you both were in Kindergarten together.
Not a day where you both were separated...
Same schools, same classes, you both were even neighbors. Your house was in front of hers across the street after getting to know her.

"So what happened?" She asked.
"I just...froze...and humiliated myself."
"Again?"
"Yeah...again." You said as you frowned, even though just seconds ago you were laughing.
Tzuyu saw your discouraged face.
"Hey, don't feel bad (YN). How about I come over tonight and so we can hang and get over this...again?"
She's done this for the umpteenth time already, but she doesn't mind...never.
She knows when you're down...and she didn't like to see her closest friend like this.
You looked at her.
"You're not busy?"
"No."
You smiled.
"Great." You smiled at her.

'Yes...oh god yes. It's been forever since our last hangout.'

The truth was...you didn't want to ask Yuna out...
You did thought she was pretty...and no offense to Yuna, but she doesn't compare to the one you actually wanted to be with..
Yeah...the girl you wanted was the girl in front of you.
Tzuyu.
Yes you had feelings for her...major feelings.
But you kept it to yourself.
Sometimes you wondered if it was destined for you and her to be together.
I mean you both get along great, perfect even.
You and her share the same hobbies, food, shows.
You didn't always liked her like this.
Up about a little more than three years ago is when you started seeing her in a different light.
You soon fell in love that was basically all of Tzuyu.
You thought it was going to pass, these feelings and that you were just in 'that' age of teens.
You tried to convince yourself that you definitely didn't have a crush on Tzuyu...but the more you did, there you were, staring right at reality and her and your feelings for her.
You don't exactly remember when was the exact moment you liked her, but you definitely remembered when you stopped fighting it.
When you both were doing a sleep over at your place, watching whatever movie was on...like two casual friends.
That was until, somewhere along the movie, both of them had grown closer in distance, until Tzuyu was sound asleep on your shoulder.
You looked over and your breath was taken away as you were in awe.
She looked so peaceful as you absent-mindedly brushed a stray fringe from her forehead. You smiled to yourself and led her head to a pillow.
"Good night, Tzuyu." You had muttered slowly, your groggy voice slowly floating up to your ears and then your stomach...and there it was again, the tingly feeling.
...And you enjoyed it.
It was there every single day since and only grew each day.
That day was three years ago.
Three years of having a crush on her, your best friend.
Three years of keeping it a secret because you were afraid.
You didn't want to lose her in case things go horribly wrong.
Probably the most common excuse, but you knew it could happen. And you couldn't in her.

Now, why would you ask someone out when your heart was settled on her...
You had a good reason...a very good reason, two of them in fact.
And one of them was walking towards you both.
You frowned.
"Hey Tzu." Tzuyu looked behind her as she saw the person walking in.
The person then gave a peck on her cheek.
"Hey Tai."
You sighed and looked away, not wanting to her the two.
...Yup...Tai.
That was reason one...she has a boyfriend.
A year long boyfriend too.
Tai Humi, the stereotypical jock of any school movie: blonde, athletic, no brains, dashing to the girls around...you honestly didn't get what Tzuyu saw in him, but when he asked her out, she said yes.
You still remember the day when she told you that she was going out with him...
You cried that night and put up a feint emotion of happiness for everyone for a while...but thank god that she didn't stop seeing you, she still hanged with you as much as she could.
You could deal with the fact that she did not feel the same way, as long as you could stay around her.
As long as she did not shut you out completely, you could deal with that...as hard as it was.
And it was going well you thought.
You even thought maybe they wouldn't last since they didn't seem to be the greatest couple.
1 week...
1 month...
6 months...
1 year...
A year since then and they just had their one year anniversary date last week, she told you and you remembered crying that night as well.
It's been devastating for sure, seeing the small antics and fluffy stuff they do together.
How do you make your best friend understand how much she means to you...you know without telling her.
You'd both done everything together EVERYTHING, but she still feels that I'm sort of a...brother or something...
She everything to you...and you can only-
"(YN)...(YN)?"
You were kicked off your solemn thoughts as Tzuyu was calling your name.
"You spaced out, you alright?"
"...Oh sorry I just...where's Tai?"
"He just left. He came to say hi and talk about something last night about some football team. Even though he knows I don't like football."
"Right..." She noticed your happiness wasn't there at all like a minute ago.
"Still sad?"
"I wouldn't say sad, but...I don't know, just not sad."
"...you know (YN)?"
"Hmm?"
"Maybe you should forget about Yuna?" She suggested as you stared at her.
'What does she mean?'
"Yeah?"
She nodded.
"I mean she's cute and all, but maybe the reason you can't ask her is because she isn't who you're suppose to be with."
'You have no idea.'
"Well...maybe it's just me being an idiot who can't do anything right." You said as you looked down.
"(YN) you're no idiot. I know I just joked about it, but you aren't...I'm sorry if I offen-"
"No, I know you're just joking. Don't worry."
She nodded.
"So tonight?" You asked.
"Yeah, I'll see when okay?" She responded.
You nodded.

"Alright class take your seats." The teacher announced.
You looked at her as she turned her head and back to you.
'I know Yuna isn't the one...I already know who...and she's taken.'
Until then, you can only sigh and stare from up close...but at least she was with you still and you both now had a date...as friends.

"Hmm...still no answer."
It was a Friday and you were coming back from school.
Tzuyu didn't came nor answered your calls or texts.
It wasn't odd that she missed school, it was that she didn't text you back.
You thought maybe she broke her phone or something, but still you went ahead to check on her.
Rather than going to your house, you went to hers.
You got on her porch and...
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"Coming...coming." You heard from the door.
The door opened to reveal Tzuyu's mom.
She smiled at your appearance.
"Hello (YN). I'm guessing for Tzuyu?" She asked.
"Yeah...is she okay? She hasn't replied to my texts."
"No, sadly she's not." She frowned and you started to worry.
"I-is she okay?" You asked concerned.
"Well she's just cooped up in her room, but last night she came and...well it's probably be better if she told you herself." She explained.
You nodded.
"Okay. Do you mind if I..."
"Not at all and thank you (YN), I tried to help her, but I'm not really getting through to her."
"Don't worry Ms. Chou. I'm know you did your best."
She smiled at you as she moved herself for you to go to her room.
"Good luck (YN)." She silently said to herself, "but I'm sure you won't need it."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"I said I'm fine mom."
You smiled.
"It's not mom." You said loudly to the closed door.
"...(YN)?"
"Yeah, mind if I come in?"
"Door's open."
You opened the door and saw her sitting on the edge of her bed. You figured she must have been lying down.
You got inside and closed the door behind you.
She was looking at you with a frown as you smiled.
"Hey." You said softly.
She then stood up and walked towards you and you outstretched your arms as she just walks into your body and grabs onto you.
You held her in there as your arms wrapped around her body as well.
This was a habit whenever Tzuyu was upset, sad or just needed some comfort.
You were always her go to.
"...Thank you (YN). For coming."
"No worries Chewy."
Then you remembered that Tzuyu had a date with Tai last night...and considering the timing, your mind was set.
"Tell me what happened Tzuyu." You demanded an answer. "Was is Tai?" You said in a malice tone.
Tzuyu was a little worried.
You were a bit protective of her.
She hasn't heard you speak like that since a kid pushed her down to the floor in their first year of middle school on accident and ended up giving Tzuyu a bad scrape, (YN) got mad at the kid.
He didn't hurt him, but he was angry at him and even pushed the kid into the lockers and demanded him to apologize.
She didn't mind, not at all, but if she told him what happened, she didn't know what you would do and she didn't want that.
"I guess that answers my question." You growled.
Tzuyu looked up at you in surprise, "I never said-"
"You didn't have to...tell me, what did he do?"
Tzuyu couldn't see an out; she knew she couldn't deny that Tai had anything to do with her current state, you wouldn't believe her.
So she decided the truth would be the best thing.
"Well..." Tzuyu began.

...
"Tai broke up with me."
And right there your anger softened a bit.
"H-he what?"
"We had a fight last night, nothing physical, just words. We were going to the movies and we were discussing what film to watch..then I don't know how, but he started a conversation about you."
You were taken a back.
"Me?"
"He...he was jealous."
You were confused.
"Jealous?"
She nodded.
"We fought about how I shouldn't see you anymore."
Right then and there you were furious, but Tzuyu needed comfort first and only getting angry was not the answer.
"Is he crazy? We're best friends. What would he say that?" You asked.
"I know, I told him that, but he thought that we've just been together more than him and he just...ended it." Tzuyu then sat there as she looked down.
You couldn't believe this; Tai broke everything off with Tzuyu, after all this time...just like that?!
And yet you couldn't be excited...because of how Tzuyu is feeling now...he hurt her...he hurt her.
"That bastard..." You said quietly.
Tzuyu heard you and instantly looked at you in shock...you never swore.
"(YN), please listen to me, I don't want you to-" Tzuyu tried to say, but you interrupted.
"That bastard..." You said a bit louder, "All this time...to end it like that!? And for some selfish reason?!"
You softly pull her into your chest, holding her in a tight hug.
This action surprised Tzuyu, but she appreciated the gesture.
"I'll make him pay Tzuyu." You vowed, "I swear it."
"No...I don't want you two to fight."
"He hurt you Tzuyu." You tried to defend your cause, but Tzuyu would have none of it.
"Right now, (YN), I need you."
Your eyes widened.
You released the hug and looked at her, and your heart drenched to see her so down.
"I need my best friend."
You sighed in defeat and at friend, but you nodded, "Okay, you've got your friend."
And just like that, Tzuyu showed a small smile.
"Thank you." Tzuyu said softly.
And she leaned into you again as you held her.
'Friend...is that I'll ever be to you Tzuyu...'

You both were now sitting on her bed.
You were on your phone as Tzuyu was just sitting on the bed with her legs crossed and eating ice cream...cookies and cream.
You were sitting there as well as Tzuyu was eating.
You were thinking of the situation.
You couldn't believe it...they broke up.
Tai broke up with Tzuyu!
You wanted to be happy, but seeing her like this wasn't doing so.
You didn't know what to say or do.
Fortunately...
"(YN)?"
You looked at her and set your phone aside.
"Yeah."
"Can you help me?"
"Of course...with what exactly?"
"I just want to get my mind off things." She then looked at you, "and..and I need you to help me with that."
You were so happy that you were her go to incase something wrong happens.
"It also gives us a chance to catch up. It's been a while since we've done anything together, except for a couple of days ago. We could do whatever, I don't really care...so?"
You smiled.
"Of course I'll help Tzuyu, like you do with me...hey you know what, what about a sleepover tonight?"
She gave a small giggle.
"Really (YN)?"
"Come on, it's like when we were kids. We stayed up all night watching movies and eating junk food. We had the best times together then...and yeah we're a bit older, but who cares."
Tzuyu then giggled once more and then laughed.
You were happy that she laughed..she hardly ever laughs, but when she does..it's just..heartwarming to you.
She then looked at you with a big smile.
"Okay."
"Yeah?" She nodded.
"Great...um
"It's 5:43, do you want me stay or..."
"You're not busy?"
"No."
"Can you stay then?"
"Yeah...let me get some stuff from my house and be right back. I'll have to tell my parents, but I'm sure they won't mind."
"Okay."
With that you left her room.
Tzuyu smiled at the door.
"Thank you (YN)...this means a lot to me." She said to herself.

Tzuyu woke up the next morning, noticing that the TV was turned off.
At some point in the night, she must have fallen asleep through the movies.
She still felt worn out from yesterday's events.
'Tai...I guess we're done...' Tzuyu reminded to herself.
Looking around, she noticed that something was missing.
'Where's (YN)?'
Thinking of (YN), she remembered all the things they did yesterday.
She was glad for all you had done for her so far, having consoled her and even diverted her focus away from that day.
Just as Tzuyu was siting there, the door to her room opened.
Looking up, Tzuyu gave a slight smile to see you enter the room.
On top of that, you were carrying two plates of what she suspected was breakfast food.
And she was right.
Scrambled eggs, crispy bacon on one plate and the other, pancakes poured with syrup and butter for her.
"Morning." You beamed a smile at her, which she returned.
"Did you do all this?" Tzuyu asked you as you handed her a plate first and put the other on the bed.
"Yeah, I just work up early and helped your mom make breakfast." You replied, putting on another smile, "She said you could eat here, long as you don't make a mess. Be right back."
You then left again the room.
Tzuyu stared at the door as she smiled.
She just can't thank you enough for being here right now.
You were always there for her and she's just grateful.
Ever since Kindergarten, she and you were close.
She was a bit nervous by you when she first met you, you were upfront and confident when you first approached her while she was timid about being near people...and now, she was glad you did so.
While others girls would have their groups of 'girlfriends' and such, she only needed one and that's you.
And speaking of you...
"Some napkins and some orange juice." You said as you came inside her room and set the bundle of napkins near her as well as a glass of orange juice on the floor near the bedside table on top of a coaster that you had in your pocket.
"You're not going to eat?" She asked as she saw you empty handed.
"Not hungry." You said, "I'll get some fruit or something later, don't worry."
Tzuyu nodded and started to eat as you just sat there with your phone, hearing her class her fork and knife.
A couple of minutes passed and...
"Last night was fun (YN)." Tzuyu said as you looked at her from your phone.
"Yeah it was, just like when we were younger." You agreed.
"Yeah...I'm sorry (YN)."
You looked at her confused.
"For?"
"I said yesterday that we haven't done much together like we used too. Not since I started...well I'm sorry that I haven't had the time for you." She said staring at her eggs.
You sat up and got closer to her to which she looked at you with a smile on your face.
"Hey, it's okay, maybe we don't hang as much, but we still talk so it's not all that bad. Besides even if we don't talk or see each other at all, you know I'll still be there for you." You said showing your concern for your friend...your love.
"(YN)..."
Tzuyu couldn't help but stare at you for a bit as you stared down a bit embarrassed.
She then smiled at you sentimentality...what did she do to deserve you?
"Thank you (YN)." You smiled, "All I ask is that you be there for me, as you always have been." Tzuyu replied.
You turned to her and showed off you grin, "I can definitely do that."
She nodded.
"And I hope it doesn't come to that...us not talking or seeing each other." She said concerned.
You smiled.
"It won't...I promise you."

And so after that breakfast, you and Tzuyu decided to hit the mall.
You didn't mind as you told her it was her day to do whatever she wanted, she suggested the mall, which you were find with, just walking around and window shopping...the life of teens.
While shopping wasn't one of Tzuyu's things to do, she wanted to get out and just hang out with you, talk to you.
It has been a while since they have done something like this. Ever since Tai and her got together, it's been mostly her and him.
She really felt bad too, she did wanted to hang with you as much as Tai, but Tai sometimes gets a bit too...much when it came to you.
This wasn't their first fight about you either, there has been times were he would say something about you and she would defend you and he'll say sorry and just move on.
Tzuyu didn't like it one bit, but it was just that much and that was it.
Also when you got rejected by Yuna, she took her day to help you out.
Now...now Tai got really fed up with it, since he learned that she was busy with you the day with you dealing with Yuna.
He asked her for a date that day in the afternoon, but she declined.
She didn't tell you that.
Knowing that, she knew that you'll tell her to go and have fun with him, but she wanted to be with you...just like right now.
So she declined his date and spended the day with you...only for Tai to learn about it the next day on their rescheduled date...and he ended it there.
She had a few words in, but he wasn't listening as he just argued before the movie even started.
It was total embarrassment as the staff even had to escort them out due to behavior.
That's were he just ended things...and left her there, forcing her to call her mom for a pick up since he drove her there.
She didn't call you that night nor responded to your calls the next day since she needed some alone time.
Plus she knew of your protectiveness of her so she didn't want you to cause a scene at school without her there to stop you and Tai if something were to happen.
She was lucky it was a Thursday night so that you and her can spend the weekend.
She was going to call you and tell you the day after, but you showed up at her door anyway...and she was glad.

ONE WEEK LATER
It's now been a week since the breakup.
And honestly, Tzuyu looked and felt like it never happened.
You tried to make her days worth while and even scheduled an event to calm her down
Then the weekend was over and Tzuyu and you went back to school...and Tai.
However none made contact as Tai never came close to Tzuyu and you.
Tzuyu never approached or even took a look at him either, she would be around you during the whole school day...it was the best.
Just like before she started dating Tai.

You then started to have courage...courage to tell her about how you feel...yeah she broke up with Tai a week ago.
But you couldn't wait.
You had three years of waiting and suffering by seeing her with someone else.
And if you had all this fun and she had all this fun...why not make it more?
So tonight...tonight you both had plans to go to a restaurant for dinner...but you had another plan.
You got prepped up and waited till the time...but you decided to just head to her place sooner...and tell her.
A more secluded and private area.
And you were going to tell her right then and there...your feelings after the dinner.
It was going to be great...you hoped.
You also reminded yourself to keep an open mind...if she said no...well you didn't know what to do then, but you promised yourself that you'd tried to keep things as normal as they can be...difficult, very difficult, but you had to respect her choice.
You took a look in the mirror to see yourself.
You took a deep breath.
"Okay (YN)...three years...and it comes down to the next minutes...you got this."
With a nod, you left your place.

"Tzuyu?"
"Come in."
You heard and opened the door to reveal Tzuyu siting on her bed on her phone to her ear...she wasn't close to being ready as she was in some PJ's.
She had a finger up to signal you to wait a moment.
You just nodded and closed the door behind you.
"No, no I think it's going to work...so are we...okay, great...I'll talk to you soon. I have to go sorry...bye."
She hanged up and smiled as she stared at her phone.
"You look great."
She look in discomfort.
"What's wrong?"
"...I just got off the phone with Tai."
'No...no you have got to be kidding me!'

"...T-Tai...ex Tai?"
"Well who else?" She said with a shrug.
You body froze.
"...W-what did he wanted?" You asked nervously.
"He wanted me back." She said softly.

Your body became down as if the gravity around went ten fold.

"It's the first time we talked since our fight...I didn't want to, but he hasn't bother me since then, so I let him have this one talk and we talked for about 30 minutes or so."
"And he was saying how sorry he was and should have trusted me more and realized that it's not the same without me and...I realized it as well."

Your heart was aching.
"And...we're getting back together."

The whole past week that you both spended together was the best.

"And the only reason why he left was because of us, but we're going to talk about it and then everything will be okay. We'll be okay (YN)."

This would break or evolve your relationship with her.

You raised her eyes to look at hers.

You had tears in the making..Tzuyu wasn't.
"And I didn't want to say anything because you're my only friend, my best friend and I didn't want to take the risk of making all that we have disappear."

You looked back at her.
"And I can't tell myself to say congrats to you Tzuyu for getting back with him, and I can't be silent...I can't see you go again."
"I want to be more than friends with you..I want to be with you and I want you to be with me. I want us to have that chance, not Tai."

Tzuyu couldn't say anything else.
You gave no reaction...she didn't even consider...she gave her answer in mere seconds...fucking seconds...
You said nothing for a minute, but she could see your eyes shifting back and forth, your thoughts going a mile a minute.
Then your eyes changed.
Tzuyu was looking at your eyes getting cloudy and glistening with every blink.
"I'm really, really sorry (YN). I adore our friendship, you have no idea what it means to me that I can rely on you for whatever and whenever I need you. You're the greatest friend anyone can ask for."
Your body flinched at the word friend.
"But...Tai and I...we, well we-"
"I-It's okay, I know I just sprang it on you after you guys and..well you and Tai are..it's okay." Your voice was breaking as you stopped yourself from talking longer than it should, as you avoided her gaze.
"...(YN)."
"It's alright Tzuyu really...umm...thank you for...for listening."
She stared at you as you tried your damn hardest to not shed tears..but it wasn't working as one fell..followed by another.
It was breaking her.
"...I...I need to go...sorry." You had no excuse, you just wanted to go.
"(YN)-"
You then turned around and took a deep breath as you were to walk out her house and walk the 30 or so steps of agony and pain.
"(YN)...please I-"
*SHUT*
You heard her voice and kept going as you turned her doorknob and left..you had tears in the making so you didn't want to turn around to see your embarrassment of a face.

You got to your house and was about to open the door with your key, but...
'Damn it...' Your dad was in the living room, you cleaned your eyes a bit to look more presentable in case he looks at you.
You unlocked the front door with your keys right away and opened the door and one step in and...

You heard your dad and looked away a bit, rubbing your eye still.
"Y-yeah?" You said trying your best to not sound so sad.
"You forgot something?"
"No...there was a change of plans..." You said to him.
"Oh...I'm sorry. Want me to make you something then?" You answered looking up the stairs.
"Later, but thanks." He nodded.
"That's fine. So what happened?"
"She was needed by her parents." You lied.
"Oh, alright, sorry."
"It's fine." You said as you left him downstairs.
Your dad just looking at your figure going up the stairs.
You locked the door behind you as you sat on your bed...and let the waterworks go down.
You were extremely hurt.
You hated it.
You were angry.
Did you mean nothing to her?
Twelve years...twelve years of history together, through every problem, every moment with her and she goes with a guy she met one year ago that doesn't care for her...like you did.

I was sitting on my bed after that.
I couldn't do anything, but just sit there...
Hearing him confess all that...I was just...stunned.
Never would I thought that (YN) would have...feelings for me.
I mean...he was even going after Yuna...
Seeing (YN) eye's so..bleak and teared up when I told him I didn't feel the same.
Maybe I was too fast in answering...but it was true...I don't love (YN).
It killed me...but, his feelings are something that I don't return.
I love (YN), but not it that way, plus Tai and I just got back together and...

...
I thought about (YN)..I thought how broken and mad he must be now...I thought about how we're not going to be the same anymore after this.
Will we be friends still...
My phone lit up with a text.
Thinking it was (YN), I picked it up, but it was from Tai.
Hey so...for our get together...I was thinking about TenPan for tonight? Sound good?
...I didn't smile or reply.
I just sat my phone down and gently laid down.
I laid there...thinking about (YN).
His eyes were all I could think of...
Then...I started to tear up as well.
'I'm so sorry (YN)...'

Reason why I cut it is that the 2nd half would be better off as a part 2 in my opinion, but don't worry it's pretty much done and you won't wait for it like the Nayeon/Tzuyu one.
