ARTEMIS' AND WALLY'S POVS

ARTEMIS' POV
I was broken from a young age... Pain; you made me a, you made me a believer, believer... My life, my love, my drive, they came from pain
I felt cold water soak me. I groaned and felt my eyes flutter open. My dad stood in front of me, smirking. "Wanna play some more, Baby Girl?" He asked.
I pretended to think about it. Then I nodded decidedly. "No," I said. "Not really, Dad. But thank you for asking."
He rolled his eyes at me and smacked me in the face again. "None of that lip from you, young lady. Now if you don't wanna play anymore, you can tell me where your little base is and you can go back home."
I looked over at Wally. I jerked my head in his direction. "What about him?" I asked.Dad looked at Wally. "What do you mean 'what about him'? He stays of course. He's better leverage than you. He's Flash's nephew. His real nephew. Unlike you and your so called 'uncle', Green Arrow. The League actually cares about him. Not like you and your worthless self. You're just a stupid piece of crap that happens to have a small archery talent. No one actually loves or cares about you. You're lucky that I'm letting you go instead of just killing you." He scoffed. "It's not like anyone would miss you anyways." Ok, well that stung. But, I'd kind of expected it. He'd said things like that to me before. I did not, however, expect Wally's reaction.
"That's not true!" Wally yelled. The collar shocked him. He didn't seem to notice. Too angry, I guess. "That's not true at all! The team and the entire league cares about her! So does her mother! So does Cheshire! Just because you don't doesn't mean no one does! YOU'RE the worthless piece of crap that no one would miss! Not Arty! And so what if she isn't actually Green Arrow's niece? He still loves her like one! Heck, he doesn't love her like a niece. He loves her like a daughter. And she's not even his daughter, she's YOURS!!! And you still don't love her even half as much as GA does! You don't love her at all actually! But GA cherishes her like the treasure that she is!" I smiled. I knew this would end badly for both Wally and me, but I still liked hearing him say it. Next to no one had ever talked so sweetly and passionately about me before. It was nice.
Dad saw me me smiling and glared at me. He slapped me yet again. "What are you smiling about?!" Dad yelled, outraged. He started punching me everywhere he could get his hands on. And I mean everywhere. And that was a lot as I was standing up, chained to the ceiling, like I had been since he first came in with the weapons, most of which he hadn't used yet. I groaned. He punched me in the chest, making me yelp.
"STOP IT!!!" Wally yelled, getting another electric shock. "Fine," Dad said with a sigh. He punched me in the gut, making me cough up blood, then walked out of the room. Shocking us both again.
WALLY'S POV
First things first, I'ma say say all the words inside my head. I'm fired up and tired of the way that things have been
Artemis looked over at me. My chest was heaving, and I was exhausted, probably because of all of the electric shocks. "Are you ok?" I mouthed at her.She nodded. "Yes," She said. Then she seemed to think about it. And then she added, "You know, he said that same kind of crap to me for years. And even though I had friends who did care about me, friends that I still have, I believed him. Even though my best friend in the world, Cameron, insisted that it wasn't true. I became depressed. So much so I cut myself and even became suicidal. In fact, the only reason that I'm alive right now is that two years ago Cam caught me before I could take the pills that would have ended my life. He took me to the hospital, and the doctors there fixed the cut on my wrist that could have made me bleed out. Then he made me go to therapy. I couldn't tell the therapist the whole story of course, but it helped. The suicidal thoughts basically stopped and I got depression meds. Meds that I'm still on, even though I don't need them anymore. The depression has gone away since I joined the team in August. Do you know how big that is? And if I'm still doing well in January they'll finally take me off the meds!" She sounded so excited. I couldn't blame her. I just heard about this and I was so super excited for her.
"Really?! That's great!" I yelled. Then I felt a shock run through me. Oh right, the inhibitor collar.
I heard noises outside the mostly soundproof door. The door flew open. There stood the one and only Boy Wonder. Along with Miss Martian. "Are you guys ok?!" Miss M asked.
"We are now," I said. Another shock ran through me. How did I keep forgetting about that stupid inhibitor collar?! M'gann ran over to me and took the collar and ropes off of me while Robin did the same to Arty, who looked suddenly exhausted.
"You ok?" Rob asked her.
"Yeah," She said, then promptly passed out.
"Arty!" I yelled as Rob checked her pulse.
He sighed in relief. "She's fine. Just unconscious." He said.
Kaldur and Connor came in with... wait, was that Roy?! Why was he here? Dick saw my expression and said that Roy came to help look for Artemis and I. He also said that the Justice League was busy kicking butt while the team and Roy went to find me and Arty.
"We've gotta get out of here," Roy said. Everyone looked at the still unconscious Artemis. I opened my mouth to say that I'd carry her, but Connor noticed. He shook his head at me. "I'll get her," He said. He knelt down and scooped her up bridal style. A/N I know, I know. How dare he pick her up bridal style? That's reserved for Spitfire. Well, my friends, suck it up. Robin situated her comfortably in Super Boy's arms, and then SB stood up with Arty pressed against his chest. M'gann helped me up and we ran outside where the JL stood waiting. We got on the bioship and headed back to the cave.
TIME SKIP
WALLY
Three days later
I looked over at Arty. She was still asleep in the infirmary. She had woken up briefly yesterday to the relief of everyone, and ate a sandwich and talked a little then fell into a peaceful sleep which she still hadn't woken up from. But no one was all that worried anymore. She suddenly squirmed. Her eyelids fluttered open. She looked over at me with her piercing grey eyes. She smiled. "What's up, Baywatch?" She asked.
I smiled at her. "Nothing much. Also you woke up briefly yesterday, but except for that you've been out for three days. Today being the third and the day you passed out not counting. Artemis winced. "Yikes," She said, and sat up. She raised a hand to her chest and winced again. "Ow." I gave her a small smile. "I know it hurts. But you've been out cold so we haven't been able to treat it since the adults said something about "respecting your privacy" and needing to ask you if taking off your shirt is ok because it's probably only a bruise..." My voice trailed off.She smiled a little bit. "It's fine. I don't really mind."
"So, GA or Canary? Cuz they said if you said it was ok that it had to be one of those two."
"Umm.... I don't really care. Di-Canary, I guess."
"Hey, Arty," I said when I got to the door.
"Yeah?" She asked. I turned around and and ran back to her bed. I leaned over and pressed my lips against hers. She gasped in surprise. Then I felt her smile. And she kissed me back!!! She actually kissed me back! God, I was so happy and excited! We kissed for what felt like forever but was probably only a couple minutes. Then we heard laughter. Very distinct laughter. Then a few clicks from a camera.
I jerked away from Artemis. We looked at each other, then yelled at the same time. "RICHARD JOHN GREYSON!" Then we looked at each other again. She didn't look surprised in the least that I knew Robin's real name. I know I did, though. How did she know the Boy Wonder's secret ID? She answered my silent question. "Rob and I go to school together."
"You go to Gotham Academy? No offense, but I thought you were poor. That school costs, like, five hundo a month. How do you afford it? Like, is this school the reason you're family is poor or something?"
Artemis laughed. "No. I'm there on a scholarship."
"Oh," I said. "That makes more sense. I gotta go catch Dick and get Canary, ok?" Arty nodded.
"Ok. But when you say Dick do you mean his name or an insult?" She asked that grinning like the Cheshire Cat. I grinned back.
"Can't it be both?" I asked, and ran off.
I grabbed Dick from behind and pinned him to the wall. "Give. Me. The. Pictures." I said. He groaned and handed me the pictures. "Thank you," I said and walked off to get Black Canary.
She and I walked to the infirmary. "Are you ok?" She asked me for the millionth time.
"For the millionth time, Canary, I'm fine. Artemis is the one who got tortured, not me. I only got shocked a few times." We arrived at the infirmary. Canary walked over to Artemis.
I stood at the door and smiled and waved to Arty, and she smiled and waved back. "You have to go now, Wally," BC said.
"I know. Bye, Arty."
"Bye, Baywatch." I smiled at her and closed the door, then walked away to get the last couple of pictures from Dick before he showed them to anyone.
