~your p.o.v~

Tired. Sleepy. Comfy.

That was how I would describe my current position.

I had woken up at 4 in the morning to find Dal's strong arms around my waist, his breath hitting the back of my neck. He must've wrapped his arms around me when he was asleep.

The blankets covered our bodies, not too warm and not too cold. The weight of the blankets brought a sense of security to me and the sun slowly rising made the room have a calming atmosphere.

The boys were all still asleep and the room was dead silent. The room was illuminated only by the purplish orange sunrise, so the only way I could tell that the boys were there was by the silhouettes of their sleeping bodies.

I was drowsy and felt like I was still dreaming, which probably is why I found the sunrise more beautiful than usual. Everything felt like a dream, a dream I never wanted to wake up from.

I sighed and suddenly felt Dallas stir next to me. I carefully turned to look at him and saw him rubbing his eyes sleepily.

He lied his head down on his arm and used the other hand to lazily graze his fingers over my waist, mindlessly drawing patterns.

"Why are you awake, babygirl?" His voice was gravelly and quiet. A chill went down my spine at the pet name.

"I just woke up. I'm gonna go back to sleep, though." I whispered, yawning. He smiled.

"You're something else, ya know that? Cute." He mumbled. I'm pretty sure he wasn't that aware of his words, he was just talking.

"Thanks?"

"Goodnight."

"Night, Dal."

-

"I got breakfast!" I heard Ponyboy's familiar voice and the door shutting. I opened my eyes to see Johnny and Ponyboy carrying food.

"You mean we got breakfast." Johnny corrected under his breath.

I sat up in bed, stretching. "I could eat."

I turned to look at Dallas, who was sleeping soundly. The blankets were bunched together right above his waist and he had one hand under his pillow, his other arm resting above his head on his pillow. His lips were slightly parted and his hair was messy.

He looked at peace. He looked young. When he was sleeping, I realized just how young he still was. He was still just a kid like the rest of us.

I tore my gaze away from the boy of my dreams and yawned.

"What time is it?" I asked. Johnny looked at the clock sitting on the nightstand.

"9:32 AM." He answered. I nodded, throwing the blankets off of me and standing up. Then, I decided to eat breakfast and wait for Dallas to wake up.

-

"Your turn to drive, Dal!" I exclaimed, slipping into the passenger seat, kicking my feet up onto the dashboard.

I turned on the radio and immediately smiled when Sam Cooke's 'Another Saturday Night' came on.

I started humming along, and soon I was singing along.

"Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody..." I sang quietly, tapping my fingers along to the beat as I looked out the window.

I continued but cut myself off when I heard humming in the back seat. I turned to see Johnny softly humming along and Ponyboy patting his hands on his lap along to the beat subconsciously.

I sang louder and got their attention, both of them looking at me.

"Everybody now!" I exclaimed jokingly, continuing my ironic singing.

"I got some money cause I just got paid! Now, how I wish I had someone to talk to, I'm in an awful way!" We sang louder. I started laughing while Ponyboy and Johnny continued. Both of them were uncomfortable at first, but they slowly became louder and more confident.

I side glanced at Dallas. He wasn't singing but he was subtly tapping his fingers on the wheel along with the song.

The sun was out, so I had an idea. Maybe we could go swimming today.

"You guys wanna swim today? I think there's a lake nearby." I asked. There was a chorus of agreements from the boys.

-

We all stood on the edge of a huge rock, looking down at the water below us. It was a big distance between the rock and the water. No one had the guts to jump, so we all stood there in our bathing suits, just staring.

"Who's gonna go?" Johnny spoke up.

"I'm not sure." Ponyboy mumbled.

I nervously adjusted the strap of my red one piece bathing suit. The boys were wearing swim trunks.

"Oh, fuck it." I muttered. I took a couple steps back.

"Wait, what are you doing? We don't know how shallow it is!" Ponyboy exclaimed nervously.

"Well, I'm gonna find out!" I yelled, running full speed and launching myself off the edge.

I fell through the air and hit the water, going under the surface. The water was deep, so I didn't hit the bottom.

I resurfaced, smiling.

"Come on, boys!"

Dallas looked at the other two boys and shrugged, getting a running start and gliding through the air. He hit the water, causing a splash.

He didn't resurface and I began to get concerned.

"Dal?" Was he okay?

Suddenly, two arms wrapped around me from behind, startling me.

Dallas pulled me into him and I turned towards him, struggling to splash him.

"I thought you died, Dal!" I complained. He chuckled to himself.

I took a moment to just look at him. His hair was wet and he was smiling. He seemed happy.

I turned to look up at Johnny and Ponyboy.

"You guys can do it! It's fine down here!" I called.

"It's just so far, you sure this is safe?" Ponyboy yelled. I smiled.

"Just trust me," I answered. "Jump!"

Ponyboy and Johnny exchanged a glance, seeming to silently agree. Then, both of them ran and launched themselves off the cliff together.

They hit the water and a couple moments later came back from under the water, gasping dramatically as if they had been underwater for a long time.

I laughed at the boys' actions. I was glad that I had the opportunity to take the boys on this trip.

Dal splashed Ponyboy, causing him to turn toward Dal.

They started splashing each other and rough housing, while Johnny and I watched and laughed.

I made eye contact with Johnny and he smiled at me. He swam over to me since the other two were distracted.

"Hey." He mumbled, treading water next to me while he watched the boys.

"Hey, Johnny. Been having fun?"

"Yeah, I have. Thank you for bringing me here." He spoke, looking at me with sincerity.

"Of course, Johnny." I turned my attention back to the boys but Johnny softly grabbed my arm, causing me to look at him.

"No, I mean it. I've never gotten to really leave Tulsa much. It's real nice of you to take me out here."

I stayed silent and we held eye contact for a moment, not speaking. I couldn't quite read his expression, but neither of us looked away.

Our eye contact was broken by Johnny getting dragged underwater. I was confused and suddenly I was submerged in the water.

I held my breath, thrashing against who grabbed me. I managed to bring myself back above water and I turned to see who did it.

"Come on, not again!" I whined, hitting Dallas in the chest. He chuckled, his arms snaking around my waist again.

"I got you again, huh babe?" He teased and I rolled my eyes.

Ponyboy came back up, laughing hysterically as Johnny glared at him. Ponyboy and Dallas must've planned to sneak up on us while we were talking and drag us underwater for a second as a prank to startle us.

"I hate you, Dallas." I muttered. He pulled me closer to him.

"Nice try. You're crazy about me."
