Alison watched Kira stare into her glass of blood, deep in thought. Through their link, she could hear the vampire talk to herself about how she should start trying to drink blood more often.

"Biting me is a good start." Alison admitted, interrupting the vampire's thoughts as the werewolf looked back at her math homework.

She could feel Kira stare at her for a few seconds.

Did you seriously just ask that? Didn't we already agree I would try?

"Kira. I'm not telling you to do it now." Alison looked up at her vampire, watching her confused expression.

"I didn't think-." Kira paused and took a breath. I knew this was going to be hard, but I didn't expect it to be this hard.

Alison couldn't help but smile at how hard the vampire was trying.

"I will start biting you. I want to have better control so I don't do anything I'll regret... again." The vampire explained.

"I know. Do you want to go to the dance?" The wolf asked.

"Not particularly, no." The vampire sipped her glass.

"Me neither. Not really a fan of everyone telling me how amazing you are and fucking you with their eyes."

Kira smirked and rolled her eyes. "I'm not really to bothered by it. I have no interest in them, so don't let it bother you."

A low growl escaped Alison's chest as she glared at her girlfriend.

"What? I'm not encouraging them to flirt with me."

"But you're not denying them either!" Alison snapped. "You're my girlfriend! You shouldn't be letting people flirt with you!"

"I don't let them. I just ignore them."

"That's the same thing! My girlfriend!"

"So assertive." Kira smirked.

Alison scoffed. "Now you're just teasing me."

"You make it too easy." The vampire admitted before finishing her glass.

"So how are Alice and Sarah?"

"Wandering around the human world I think. With Nodens of course."

"They're still close right?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well what if something goes horribly wrong? Wouldn't it be best if they were nearby?"

"With Alice no longer serving her father and Alex dead, it's going to take a bit of time for Agora to regroup his assets. We'll have at least a few years before anything serious happens. A few hunters might be a problem, but otherwise I don't see a serious issue."

Alison looked back down at her homework then back up at her girlfriend who raised an eyebrow.

"If you say so." The wolf went back to her homework, scribbling a few problems down.

Kira sat patiently, watching her girlfriend's pencil as it worked near endlessly to solve all the problems.

Alison leaned back after about an hour and stretched, cracking her back several times. "Finally done!" She admitted. When she looked over, Kira was cleaning the base of her violin.

The wolf flinched as she noticed the magical instrument. (Or at least, it was magical in Kira's hands)

"Don't worry. I'm not going to play it."

"Good. Because I don't know if and when Alice is supposed to come home, and I don't think she wants to see us making out on the table or something."

"You never know, maybe she's into that?"

Alison glared at the vampire who smirked. "Want to head to bed?"

"It's a little early."

"I'm exhausted." Alison admitted, leaning her head back in a groan. "I just wanna sleep till I die!"

"That wouldn't be too entertaining." The vampire noted. "We can go to bed if you like, but I'll probably read a book instead of sleep."

"Do you get nightmares?"

"Indeed."

"Is there any way to prevent your nightmares?"

"I have to 'sleep' in someone else's dream."

"Is that what you already do to me?"

"For the most part. I try and stay out of your dreams and simply watch or hide in the background. I don't like the idea of disturbing your peaceful slumber."

"Don't act like I don't enjoy your company." The wolf closed her notebook and stuffed her things back into her book-bag.

"I never said or even pretended like you didn't." The vampire laughed as she set her violin back in it's case and stood up with it. "A dream is private, and personal. It's not fair of me to give it my full attention."

"I wouldn't mind. You are my girlfriend. Do you know how many people wish they could read their significant other's mind?" Alison set her book-bag by her nightstand before she started changing as Kira stuffed her violin case under the bed.

"Wishing to, and actually being able to are very different. I'm sure there are times when you wish I couldn't hear your inner conflict." The vampire climbed into the bed grabbing a leather bound book, clearly from Exodious, from the nightstand.

"I mean, it'd be nice to not embarrass myself in front of you." Alison admitted, before pulling her night shirt on and climbing into bed beside the vampire. "I guess you have a point. But I'd be happy to donate my dream so you don't have nightmares."

You should take her offer Kira. You wake up violent from nightmares. Zoe called out in their thoughts.

Kira touched a hand to her chest like she was trying to silence her Shade, before gripping her shirt like she was truly thinking about it. "Unfortunately, you have a point."

I wouldn't tease you about this. Zoe admitted.

"You okay?" The werewolf raised an eyebrow at Kira, who seemed to be thinking about what she should do.

"If you really don't mind, I'll hide in your dreams then."

"How does it work?"

"I can enter your dream whether or not I'm conscious. Usually before I fall asleep I'll just put myself in your head."

"What happens if sleep creeps up on you?"

"You or Zoe will probably wake me." Kira admitted.

"Is it that bad?"

"It can be."

Alison got comfortable in the bed where she rolled so she was hugging Kira around the stomach. Her head was resting on the vampire's lap as she was sitting up so she could read.

"Then I guess I have to fall asleep quickly." The werewolf purred.

Kira opened the book with one hand, and ran her fingers through Alison's hair with the other. They laid like this for a while, and before long the wolf fell asleep, leaving her breathing as the only sound in the room. Other than the occasional page turn from the Vampire of course.

Kira eventually closed her book and set it on the nightstand before leaning back against the headboard. Unfortunately for her, with Alison's grip she was unable to correct herself so she was lying down. Not that she really minded. She was grateful to be touching her lover again, even if they were still distant. These precious moments where they could pretend to be what they were so long ago were so very perfect.

How Kira loved them.

She continued to run her fingers through Alison's hair, gently massaging her skull as she did. She admired the peaceful expression on her face with a soft smile before she closed her own eyes. Her thoughts found their way into Alison's mind, and she allowed herself to slip into her girlfriend's dream effortlessly.

She stood overlooking a small clearing on the edge of a lake. A scene that only took a few seconds for Kira to recognize.

It was the lake from near the village. The one they always went to when they were younger, and blissfully unaware of the dangers around them.

Kira followed the laughter, and found younger versions of Alison and herself lying on their backs just beside the lake. They were in very minimal clothing, and what they were wearing was wet. Dry clothes were laid out against the rock to their left, but they were mostly forgotten at the time.

"You're despicable." Alison scoffed, pushing her companion playfully.

"And you're relentless." The younger Kira retorted, rolling her eyes.

"Just tell me then? What was it like dating a dragon?"

"By not telling you that makes me despicable?"

"Tell me!"

"Alright, Gods." Kira laughed again, moving her arms behind her head as she looked up at the clear sky above them. "She was mostly normal. Her family chose to take human forms most often, so she looked human most of the time."

"Looked?"

"She was human. Looked, felt, all of the above. Her smell was still dragon. So was her breath."

"Did she have bad breath?"

Kira laughed again. "No. Dragon's have an odd property in their breath, that makes a person very drowsy and promotes healing in other races. For vampires, it's like a mild high."

"So you got high from kissing her?"

"You don't exhale when you kiss." Kira laughed. "And vampires don't breath. So it has to be planned."

"I bet she loved getting you intoxicated." Alison chuckled.

Then present day Kira smiled at the Exodious accent her lover had back when. It had since been all but erased by the human world one, and it was refreshing to hear it on her tongue once more.

"Why did you break up with her?" The wolf questioned.

"Because I am saving myself for my mate. Dragons don't know who their mate is, so she had to guess. I told her we were not mated, and that I couldn't give her my body no matter how much I trusted her. She and I separated on a mutual agreement. So neither of us would get hurt later."

"Did you end up finding your mate then?" Alison questioned.

"I'm not sure." Kira shrugged with a soft grin that Alison returned before the two of them shared a gentle kiss. "I guess we'll have to find out."

The real Kira smiled softly at the memory, sitting down on the large rock overlooking the small clearing so she could watch their past selves interact. She was so focused on watching the two of them that she didn't even notice when Alison took a seat next to her.

"Do you ever think about before?" The wolf asked her.

"Every day." The vampire answered. "I miss how we used to be."

Alison shifted a bit, crossing her legs under her before looking up at her girlfriend. "I do too, but doesn't it feel more real now?"

Kira looked up at her curiously, waiting for her to continue.

"Like... before, we just saw each other as perfect. We could do no wrong in each other's eyes. Even when you killed that vampire in front of me, I never saw you as a monster or anything other than Ra-Ra. But now we see each other for everything, even our flaws. We're not perfect anymore, and I think that's what makes this all the more real." Alison admitted, leaning back and looking up at the sky.

Kira blinked, before looking up at the sky herself, and watching the clouds pass overhead. The two were left in a comfortable silence for a few moments, before the vampire sighed deeply.

"You have a point."

"Do I?"

"I don't see you the same way I did before. It's not always a good thing, but I see you as you're own person. Not someone who's forced to love me back. You make your own choices now."

"And my choice is to be with you."

They looked back at each other, and shared a loving gaze, with Alison smiling softly at the vampire. Kira couldn't help but smile back before leaning forward and kissing her wolf on the cheek.

"You're making it difficult."

"What's difficult?"

"Taking things slow."

"Whatever." Alison rolled her eyes. "I haven't technically made any moves on you so I'm not rushing or anything. I'm keeping my word. I don't really know you anymore either. You're a lot more broody than you used to be, so I feel like if I move even moderately too fast you'll freak out and run away again. I'm pretty much letting you make all the moves."

The vampire nodded slightly, looking back at their past selves talking and flirting, with a couple more kisses shared between them.

"Thank you. We'll get there. It'll just take some time Mon Coueur." Kira purred.

Alison shivered a bit. "You're not allowed to speak French if we're taking it slow." The wolf warned.

"Oh? Does it bother you?"

"It's really attractive."

"That's unfortunate. It's my favorite language." The vampire admitted.

"Really attractive."

"C'est malheureux."

Alison was grateful that she could hear the vampire's thoughts to help her translate as she was completely teasing her now. First calling her "My Heart" now continuing with "that's unfortunate".

"Why didn't you ever speak French before if it's your favorite language?"

"You're friends don't understand it. So speaking it would only confuse them."

"Still."

"From now on, I'm going to only address you in French then. Even in front of your friends."

"Kira."

"Qu'est-ce que c'est ma chérie?" What is it my darling? Kira's brain translated for Alison so she wouldn't have to ask.

"Kira." The wolf warned again. When Kira opened her mouth, Alison placed hand over the vampire's lips to prevent her from speaking again. "Seriously." She smirked. "Don't tease me."

Kira smirked and gently moved the wolf's hand away. "May I at least use the pet names?"

"Only if when you do you used a thick French accent so when you talk to me people think you're from France. That'll score some serious points with everyone in my school." Alison wiggled her eyebrows.

"We'll see mon chérie."
