‘They are amazing Harry!’ Remus said, proudly. ‘They are both metamorphmagi. None are werewolves, which is great. I'm so glad. It's so funny when their mood changes because their appearance changes a little. Although not that much, though, just little things. The shade of their eyes change. The girl’s eyes are green and the boy’s eyes are blue which is really cool. I don’t know why but it is.’
‘You’ve only had them for about three hours!’ Harry laughed.
‘I know! Isn’t it amazing how much love can be produced inside such a small space of time?’
‘Yeah. I think these little things are pretty cool. As long as they don’t start biting me, I’ll love them.’
Remus laughed. ‘Right, Harry. Think of two nice names.’
‘Hmmm. You definitely have to call the guy Harry…’he teased.
‘Oh yeah, of course.’ Remus said. ‘No doubt about it.’
Harry laughed. ‘I honestly don’t know, Remus.’
‘Oh well. We’ll ask the others later. Do you want to see them?’
‘Yeah, cool.’
Remus led Harry up to the room where Tonks was sleeping and her two children were lying in cots at the bottom of the bed.
‘The healer says they are both fit and healthy. They’re just perfect, Harry. And you know what, if Voldemort wasn’t creeping around, my whole life would be perfect.’
‘A perfect life? I wish such things existed. But, Remus, how can you have a perfect life when your two best friends are dead?’
‘Harry, you have to realise that life moves on. I haven’t had your dad in my life for the past sixteen years and I only had Sirius for two years in between him being in prison and him dying. I have just got used to the fact that I won't be seeing them for a long time. But do you honestly think that the three real marauders won't ever meet up? That we won't ever get into any mischief again? I don’t think so!’
Harry smiled. Mooney was right. He would just have to wait a while to see his parents and Sirius again. It's not like they were separated forever.
‘You know, I think these two are going to be a right little pair of trouble-makers.’ Harry said. ‘At least it’ll keep you in shape. You’re not as young as you used to be!’
‘Oy, Potter! You’re only as old as you feel, and today I feel like I'm twenty one!’
Harry heard Molly calling them for their dinner. Harry led the way downstairs and when Remus walked in, he got a large round of applause from Arthur, Molly, Fred, George, Mundungus, Bill, Charlie, Hermione, Ron, Ginny and Harry.
Remus held up his hand for silence. The racquet quietened and Remus spoke up. ‘I really don’t think that is me who deserves the round of applause…and I'm sure Tonks will get hers when she appears, but for now, I think all the praise should go to Hermione, for bringing my wonderful children into the world.’
Hermione turned scarlet as everyone clapped for her and Molly got her into a hug. Fred and George lifted her up and paraded her around for everyone to see, and then set her down at the table, ready for dinner.
Molly had made a delicious serving of roast chicken and everyone cleaned their plates. Afterwards, while Hermione and Ginny did the dishes for Molly. Harry, Ron and the twins levitated all the trunks up to the rooms, taking care not to wake the babies…or Tonks!
On the way back downstairs, Harry grabbed Ron and pulled him in to take a look at Remus’ kids.
‘Look, Ron! Imagine… you used to be that size! You were probably never that cute though.’
‘Harry, I really wanna poke it. Just to see if it's real.’
‘Believe me, it's real. You should have heard them when they first popped out. They were screaming like they were on a quidditch pitch!’ he said that bit a little too loudly and he saw Tonks beginning to stir. They sneaked quietly out of the room to go downstairs and look for some dessert.

When Tonks finally woke up and fed her children, she made her way downstairs, waiting for the congratulations and hugs. She got them, in massive amounts. Molly kept feeling the need to hug her over and over again and Ron kept asking inappropriate questions.
‘Was it painful?’ he asked.
‘Yeah.’
‘How painful?’
‘Very.’
‘Example?’
‘Let’s stick a melon up your nose and see how painful it is!’
Ron shut up after that comment.
Everyone was very excited about the new arrivals and all of them wanted a cuddle.
‘When can I hold them, Tonks?’ Ginny wailed for the fourth time.
‘Stop acting so childish, Ginny. You’re not the baby anymore! And you can hold them when the healer gives the okay.’
‘Cool!’ Ginny said and ran off to tell a not-as-excited-Hermione.
That night at about ten o’clock, Remus and Tonks arranged a house meeting. They got everyone who was living in the house (which was everyone at dinner, except Mundungus) to sit around the table and listen to what they had to say.
‘Well, people,’ Remus said. ‘Today has been pretty eventful; to say the least and we really are so thankful to Hermione and Harry for helping with the delivery. Firstly, we want to apologise in advance for the noise they are going to make, but they are only babies. Secondly, we want you to know that we have picked names and godparents and they’ll be getting christened on Christmas Eve.’
At this everyone sat up. They all wanted to be a godparent to one of the tiny tots.
‘I'm really sorry but I've only got two children and they only need two godparents each so I'm sorry to anyone who would like to be one, but didn’t get picked. But anyway, we have decided to call our daughter Rhiannon Hermione, because you delivered her, Hermione. And we are calling our son Sirius Harry James, because you are our godson, Harry.’
Harry and Hermione thanked Tonks and Remus for the honour. Then everyone sat back and waited for the next announcement. This time Tonks stood up. She had already lost most of her stomach, but she was wearing a large jumper to cover up the belly.
‘Listen, we love you all very much and we want you all to play a huge part in the little sprogs’ lives. But, Rhiannon’s godparents are Harry and Ginny and Sirius’ godparents are Ron and Hermione. That’s if it's okay, with you four?’
Ginny jumped up and down clapping and Hermione was crying tears of joy. Ron and Harry just grinned at Tonks and Harry whispered a ‘thank you’.
Ginny came running over to Harry, ‘isn’t this so exciting! And Rhiannon! What a beautiful name! I'm going to spoil her so much! Aren’t you excited?’
‘Of course I am! I'm just in shock. One child gets named after me and I'm another’s godfather! I mean, wow!’
‘I know how you feel!’ Hermione came walking over and Ginny grabbed her into a hug.
‘I'm so, so, so, so, so, so proud of you! How did you know what to do?’
‘I don’t know. I just thought that it was common sense. All she had to do was push, although my left hand is severely bruised!’
‘Why?’ Tonks asked, overhearing the conversation.
‘Because you bloody squeezed it so hard!’ Hermione laughed. ‘Thanks so much Tonks, I really feel so privileged.’
Tonks hugged her. ‘I will be forever in your debt, missy. You remember that if you ever need anything, okay?’
Hermione gave her a teary nod.
