It was time for break.

First period was over and guess what, it was dryer than dry.
In fact, today seemed so boring, not just to me but to everyone. Some students looked gloomy, some looked slightly energetic, some...just there.

"Ehen Benjamin, you said that you would tell me what happened on Saturday evening." I rushed up to him before he could leave for break.

He cocked an eyebrow at me. "Nothing happened on Saturday evening." He said simply. "Besides, I already told you on WhatsApp."

"On WhatsApp? Yesterday?" I furrowed my brows.

"Uh-huh." He nodded.

"I didn't come online yesterday."

"Then when you come online, you'd see it." He seemed not to be in a bright mood today. Well, I couldn't blame him. Everyone in the class seemed the same.

"Why don't you just tell me now?"

"Ehn...so I just wasted my data right?" He said jokingly.

"No." I whined. I knew where this was heading already.

"But sorry, I can't waste my saliva repeating what I already told you on WhatsApp." He started walking out of the class, but I stood him to a halt.

"Benji na...!" I whined, shaking his arm.

He stood still but didn't face me. I presumed he was smiling 'cause of how his cheeks were.

"If you like be smiling rubbish smile there."

He turned back. I guessed right, he was smiling. "On one condition would I tell you." His smile changed swiftly into a smug smirk.

"Which is?" I looked at him mischievously. I wonder what the condition would be.

"Kiss me."

I exclaimed. "You know that's not possible."

"Why not?" He frowned a bit. He sounded a bit offended.

"Duh! Cause we're in public."

"And so what?"

"Benji!" I hit him on the arm a little.

"Yeah yeah! Whatever." He rolled his eyes. "So are you gonna kiss me or not?"

I widened my eyes. Was he actually being serious now? Or could it be that he didn't hear what I said? "You know what? Don't bother telling me. I'd just check it when I get home." I turned to leave but he stopped me.

"Wait wait." He placed both his hands on my waist, stopping me.

I turned back immediately so his hands could drop from my waist. I didn't want anyone to see us like that. I just hope no one did.

"What?" I frowned a bit, placing my hands akimbo.

"Nothing." He imitated me– my look and my position. He looked so adorable imitating me.

"So why did you stop me?" My frowned look became stern.

"Is it bad to stop you?" He further imitated my look. Fuck! He looked adorable.

I burst out laughing. I couldn't hold it any longer. He looked adorable yet funny with that look on his face.

"Why is this one laughing now?" He questioned.

I kept on laughing, although, I was trying to suppress it. "No...nothing!" I said in between my laughter.

He shook his head. "I'm not happy with you, you know?" He said seriously.

That statement instantly murdered my laughter. "Why?" I asked in utter perplexity.

"You don't even call me. On Saturday when I told you that I would tell you what happened that evening, you didn't even seem bothered at all."

"Who told you? Benjamin, I was bothered." I said truthfully.

"So why didn't you call yesterday to know or at least, know how I was doing. Every time, I'm the one that always call."

"It's not like that. I...I normally don't have call card. And yesterday, I didn't even have data at all."

"Then you should have told me. I would have sent you."

I merged my brows in a frown. "How would I have told you when I don't even have call card?" I pouted my lips afterwards.

He sighed in defeat. "All right." His shoulders that were tensing initially, relaxed. "So you wanna come with me for break?"

"Hmm." I rubbed my jaw in pretence thought. "Not until you tell me what happened on Saturday."

He groaned exasperatedly. "Nothing, really. I just wasn't home that night you called."

If he thought what he said now just cleared the air, well no it didn't. In fact, it made me feel more disturbed. "Where were you then?"

"Never mind. So let's go now." He looked away instantly. He definitely was hiding something from me. But what could that be?

"No." I stopped him as he attempted to drag my wrist. "Benjamin, where did you go on Saturday?" I asked with a stern voice.

"No where important." He didn't look at me. "Ruby, I already told you on WhatsApp, so let the topic just die please."

"Hmm." I sent him a skeptical look. "I'd just check it on my WhatsApp when I get home. So...the card?" I grinned from ear to ear.

He peeked at me. "Which card?"

"Ahn...na! You said you would send me card." I said in a babyish voice.

"I said send right, not give you now." He looked at me and was smiling.

I folded my arms around my chest. "Why can't you just give me the money now?"

"So I've now turned into a bank that would always have money, right?"

"It's not time to start crying." I narrowed my eyes at him. "Anyways, today sha." I reminded.

He shook his head as he smiled at me. "How much do you want?" He gestured his head at me, giving me the freedom to talk.

"Uhm...maybe..." I scratched my head. I wanted to say one thousand naira, but I was scared that he probably might see me as someone who likes money. So I said instead, "Any amount you can afford to send."

"Hmm, okay. One hundred naira then." He smirked at me.

"No o..."

He giggled at me. "I thought you said any amount I can afford, so it's hundred naira I can afford to send." He chuckled after his speech.

"Benjamin no...! At least from two hundred naira upwards." Whereas in my mind, I hoped for something bigger. Like five hundred naira upwards. "You know what, just send any amount you want to. Surprise me!" My voice came out menacingly.

"Yeah yeah. Can we go for break already?" He checked the time on his wrist watch. "See now, it's almost break over." He started to walk out briskly.

"Wait na!" I stopped him. "Come and carry me joor!" I sent him a puppy eye.

"Aw! So cute. But nope."

My mouth practically dropped. "No? After that act I displayed? Okay, go then. I'm not coming." I turned back to leave.

"Ruby na!" He called my name, which made me freeze at the spot. I was smiling triumphantly as he couldn't see my face. "Are you gonna do this to me now?" I didn't respond. I just stood still, smiling.

He groaned in frustration. "Okay fine! Come over here."

I turned back to look at him. I feigned an angry face. "No. You come over here."

"What!" He looked extremely angry. Afterwards, he hissed. "E be like say you never ready sef."

"Okay." I shrugged. Then I turned to leave again.

"Oya wait ahn!" He stopped me again. Honestly, I was enjoying what I was doing, and I felt loved and cared for by Benjamin. I couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend 'cause this one was just perfect for me.

I didn't turn to look at him this time around.

"Turn back now." He sounded seethe but trust me, I cared less. No, I wasn't wicked or taking advantage of his love for me. Well, maybe a little I was taking advantage of his love, but duh! Every girl would want to feel loved by their boyfriends, so I wasn't exempted. "Ruby!" I turned back immediately as he bawled my name. He was frowning now. "Come now." His faced suddenly turned into a calm and pleading one.

I rolled my eyes. "Okay." I said grudgingly. Later I walked up to him and swiftly, he placed his hand around my shoulders, whilst my arms were wrapped around my tits.

As he threw his hand around my shoulders, a lot of things occurred. Firstly, his scent was divine. It sent cold chills through my body system. He smelled of explore perfume and baby powder. Secondly, the way I felt as his hand landed on my shoulders. Woah! You don't even want me start telling you 'cause if I start, it wouldn't end. His feel was so sensation, so loving, so calming, so–

"Can we now go?" His voice, that voice, brought me back to planet earth.

"Su...sure." I smiled sheepishly.

——————————

"Okay, Amaka bye." I waved Amaka 'bye.' It was already closing time.

Minutes after what felt like a long trek, I stopped a motorcycle to flag home. I was already tired of walking.

"Where?" The bike man asked.

"Egbeda." I replied.

"Egbeda ke? Don't you know we are in Egbeda." He spoke in pidgin language.

"Oh." I murmured. Why you con dex vex? "Gowon estate, I mean." I corrected.

He muttered something, but I didn't hear. I didn't even care to know what he said.

I climbed on the motorcycle. "How much?"

"Na hundred naira."

"For why? Na fifty naira I dey pay o." I protested.

"Madam, I've told you already. It's hundred naira." He said nonetheless. He seemed not ready to negotiate.

"So you wouldn't collect fifty naira." I said rather than asked.

"Is it English you don't understand or what? See abeg, if you don't want to go, just get down and stop wasting my time here." Okay, that did it for me. This dude was blatantly rude.

I hissed as I made my way down. "Rubbish!" I said as I completely got down.

No sooner had I got down from his motorcycle than he drove off. "Mumu man." I cussed.

I flagged another bike, which was fifty naira. As soon as I got to my gate, my phone vibrated in my bag indicating that a message had been sent. I immediately took my phone out of my bag and checked the message. It was a message from Benjamin. He had sent the card.

My eyes widened, my mouth dropped, my legs became stagnant as I saw the amount Benjamin sent me.

"Wow!" I gasped.
