It was a sunny Thurday afternoon. Class has ended early today so I headed to the public library. Midoriya was dragged off by All Might to who knows where while Todoroki was no where to be seen.
I sighed as I looked at the endless row of shelves in the public library. "Mysterious Quirks, Fantastic Quirks and Where to Find them, All About Quirks...... Well, I've got seven hours till the library closes so might as well start now," I muttered with exasperation. After one book by another, there was nothing about demonic quirks.
My mom, code name: Dark Rose had a similar quirk like mine yet quite different. She had no wings; her horns were permanently stuck to her head and she only possessed super strength and speed. She had complete full control of her quirk and never entered a rampage stage like me.
"Another 5 hours to go..." I moaned. "I can do this. I can......"
When I opened my eyes again, I realized I had fallen asleep on the table. Saliva drooled from my mouth. "Shit!" I screeched. Someone shushed me. "Sorry..." I whispered.
My clock showed 6 in the evening. "Oh my god did I sleep for 3 hours?! Goddamn it Takasaki what is wrong with you?" I cursed myself.
I opened my notebook, hoping there was something inside there that I've missed. I scrolled through page by page, but I found nothing. I was about to close the notebook when I realized something was written on the last page.
It wrote, 'Pro Hero, Lucifer'.
I loved Harry Potter and magical stuff really, but I couldn't believe that my notebook was magical as well.
"Who wrote this?" I wondered. I looked around. There was no one I know. The people around me were reading and minding their own business.
It was awfully suspicious, but it was still a clue. Whoever you are, I am grateful, but I still need to be careful.
I gathered my stuff and headed to the computer section. Google-sensei was my best option for now. There weren't many answers I could get from typing 'Pro Hero Lucifer'. However, one very old news article caught my attention. It was dated nearly 30 years ago.

'Pro Hero Lucifer, an angel fallen from grace.
Talented, brilliant, handsome. No words could describe this blooming hero. He was everyone's idol. He was one of the best heroes in Japan. He bore the quirk, Demon, that allowed him to possess super strength, speed and high intelligence. He looked like a demon, fought like one, yet he behaved like an angel-saving countless lives.
Lucifer was a name of an enchanted angel. Everyone thought he could bring honour to this name. But, it was cursed. A cursed name of a fallen angel into the paths of demon.
On an unfortunate night, his family was slaughtered by a mob of villains. It changed him completely. From then on, like his name, the angel has fallen from grace and turned into a demon.
He lost control. He let his inner demon took over. He allowed his quirk to turn him into a real demon. On the very same night, he massacred 29 villains from the same mob.
When the police arrived, he was no longer the Lucifer people loved. Blinded by blood lust, he went on a rampage and killed 12 policemen and heroes, injuring another 24 more who tried to stop him.
At one moment, he abruptly snapped back into reality and was devastated by the horrors he had committed. He screamed until his lungs couldn't breathe. He cried in despair as he tried to wash the blood from his hands. But what was done was done. Out of guilt, he slit his own throat with his demonic claws and he bled to death.'

"......What... what the..." Words failed to form in my mouth as shock took over me. I reached out for my water to calm my nerves but only to realise my hands were trembling. "Fuck... what is this..."
I retracted my arms and curled into a tiny ball. My breathing hitched as my heart raced. Tears flowed down my cheeks. Fear has taken over me. This was not what I expected. This was not what I wanted to know. This was not what I wanted to become. This was...
This is what I will become sooner or later.

I didn't want to go home so I stayed at the playground near my house, sitting on the swing and drowning in despair. My mom would figure out something was wrong with me since she was extremely perceptive. I didn't want to worry her.
My stomach didn't growl even though I didn't eat a thing for the past few hours. Probably because I had lost all motivation to eat too.
My mind was a complete mess. I couldn't process the huge chunk of information I've just received. I didn't know what to think or what to do. The more I thought about Lucifer, the more I thought that was what I will become. I couldn't think straight or think outside of the box.
'...... Blinded by blood lust, he went on a rampage and killed......'
Me and Lucifer, we were quite similar, I thought. We both possessed a great quirk with bad repercussions-a hidden demon we never knew about.
"But we're not the same person, right? So there's a possibility I would not end up like him," I said, trying to calm my nerves.
'......He lost control. He let his inner demon took over. He allowed his quirk to turn him into a real demon......'
'It would be nice to say your quirk saved people, but you seemed to have lost control over it. Lost all human sense. You've became like a real demon.' I recalled what Recovery Girl said.
Real demon.
I looked at the tuft of white hair on my head. It was a looming premonition about my future.
My hands shivered. My body trembled. I was never so afraid in my entire life.
I cried for the umpteenth time tonight.
When I finally stopped crying, I tried to steel myself to go home. My legs were heavy as lead. I made sure my face was not covered in tears. I faked a big smile even though it hurt inside. "I need to go home now. I can't let my mom worry," I lied to myself although truthfully, I didn't want to go home.
I jolted when I heard footsteps approaching, accompanied by some heavy breathing. White hair flashed in the air as the person jogged off.
"......Todoroki?" I muttered. The boy didn't notice me and disappeared into the cold murky night.
Maybe I should talk to him. I needed someone to talk to anyway. Maybe he can help me out-
'......he went on a rampage and killed......'
I couldn't talk to him. I couldn't bear to tell him the truth. In fact, I couldn't bear to tell anyone.
"Then I'll bring this secret to my grave."

I went home in the opposite direction of Todoroki. I didn't want to meet him.
What should I do with my quirk? There must be some other way... some other way to prevent me from turning into a......
The word 'demon' sounded much lethal now.
My body involuntarily trembled. "Shit. Stop trembling. Stop trembling. Just stop..." I cried.
"Takasaki, what are you doing?"
I knew that voice anywhere. I quickly wiped away my tears and put on a smile. "Oh hi Todoroki. Fancy meeting you here. I was just looking at a pretty pebble on the ground."
His emotionless blank eyes seemed to look deep into my core. "But you were crying."
Fuck, how can I fool him? He's too smart. "I got sand in my eyes."
"......Oh. Be careful next time."
I'm sorry Todoroki.
"By the way, have you found anything in the public library?"
Fuck.
"As usual, nothing," I lied.
He didn't seem to be suspecting anything. "Oh too bad. Sorry I couldn't help out today."
Thankfully you didn't.
"I can help out tomorrow though," Todoroki added.
"It's fine! I'm... I've given up. I'll just focus on the Sports Festival for now. Sooner or later something might pop up in the future."
He blinked. "Oh."
Change the subject, quick. "Oh umm... are you perhaps jogging in the middle of the night?" I gestured at him. He was completely drenched in sweat. His well-toned muscles were visible through his drenched singlet.
He nodded. "I have to train for the sports festival. The more I train, the more skilled I am in using my quirk. And besides, I needed to get my mind off something."
'Off what?' was what I wanted to ask before a switch flipped in my mind.

"THAT'S IT!"
Todoroki's eyes widened in surprise. "What's it?"
"Umm I forgot that I have dinner at home waiting for me! I gotta go! Bye Todoroki! Thanks for the advice!" I quickly ran off to my house. A tiny sliver of hope has sprouted in me.
I'm gonna train my quirk until I can completely control it.
