Merida found herself standing outside her house with her luggage packed with her clothes and stuff that she will take with her. She gripped the handle tightly as she sighed deeply. Recently, she finished her degree that her mother had forced her to take.

Now that she achieved her mother's goals, she finally realized that it might be enough to satisfy them. This time, she decided to not hold back and finally leave their house. She needs to start a new life away from them even though she never had the chance to graduate in the degree that she wanted. At least this time, she gets to choose. Surprisingly, her mother agreed with her decision to move out.

She gripped the handle tightly and gave her mother a hug. She also hugged her dad. His brother's were taking their entrance tests so they weren't around when Merida decided to finally leave the house.

"Are you sure about this, Merida?" Her mother, Elinor, asked. "You know you can work in our hospital."

"I'm sure about this, mom. We've been through this already." Merida said. "I need to be able to handle myself and not depend on you anymore."

"Alright." She nodded with a sigh. "But be sure to text me once you've found yourself a nice place, okay? Oh, why wouldn't you just live in the condo?"

Merida let out a tired sigh, emphasizing that she was sick of hearing the question over and over again. "Mom, I told you already that I want to be independent. I want to work and earn money for myself." She said as she fiddled with her shirt's hem. "You can't stop me."

"Then be sure to text or call us when you need us, okay?" Her father, Fergus, said while giving his daughter a hug.

"I promise." She said and kissed her parents goodbye.

Merida called a cab and said her goodbyes to her parents. As the cab drove away, she waved at them until they disappeared in the distance. She glanced at her watch and saw that it's only seven in the morning. It was early and she hadn't eaten yet. She realized she was hungry.

She leaned over to the driver and said, "Please take me to Mcdonald's." The driver nodded and took a turn to the left.

It was great that she had finally left the house. Her parents had been very strict about her leaving the house. Of course, Merida begged to leave even when she was just in college. Obviously, her begging did not amuse them but they did say that she can live on her own as long as she graduated. And now, she finally did it. She was overjoyed to let go of the life that had been holding her back. Her parents had been good business people. They were wealthy. Wealthy enough to be able to build a hospital and malls around the country. Though they were very rich, Merida trained herself to be humble even though she could be a little hard-headed sometimes.

When the cab stopped at McDonald's, she paid the driver before opening the car door. She walked inside, heading straight to the counter. There wasn't much on the menu and she wasn't really feeling picky so she went for waffles and coffee. The woman on the counter took her order and asked for Merida that she can find a table and that they will just serve her food . Merida walked over to a table near the window as she pulled her luggage behind her.

A few minutes passed and her food arrived. At first, Merida did not notice the person holding her tray because she was busy fiddling with her phone. It was until the lady holding it placed the tray on Merida's table with a gssp that made her look up.

"Merida!" The lady exclaimed. It was her high school friend, Rapunzel. Her long blonde hair was tied in a bun. She was wearing the uniform that the crew in Mcdonald's wear. She looks the same, bright and smiling. Rapunzel stared at Merida with delight, her green eyes shining.

"Rapunzel?" Merida asked. "It's you!"

Rapunzel sat on the other side and beamed, "It's been a while! How are you?"

"I'm good. Just finished my degree." She said.

"That's amazing!" Rapunzel exclaimed with enthusiasm that Merida did not realize she missed. "I'm a working student now. I've been here since forever! I'm taking law and it's killing me."

Merida gave her a small laugh. "Did your parents force you to?"

"Nah," Rapunzel said. "I really want this. That's why I'm working so hard!"

Rapunzel's eyes drifted to Merida's bag. She looked at Merida questioningly before asking, "What are you up to?"

"I'm looking for a place to stay. A flat, maybe?" Merida answered. "Do you know a place?"

At first, Rapunzel gave her a funny look like Merida was a fugitive running away from her crimes. She knew very well how strict Merida's parents can be and it surprised her to see Merida with her stuff packed in a luggage.

"I just happen to know a place." Rapunzel answered. "I'll take you once I finish my shift. It's almost eight. Plus, you're telling me what's up with you and leaving."

She stood and left. Merida waited while she ate her waffles and drinks her coffee. She went back to her phone to search for hospitals that are currently looking for biochemists. Earlier, she was looking for a flat and thought it would be hard. But thankfully, it wouldn't be, all thanks to Rapunzel. She silently thanked her stomach for being hungry. If ir wasn't for if, she wouldn't be able to meet Rapunzel again.

After fifteen minutes, Rapunzel came back. She was off her work clothes and was now wearing a pair of jeans and a white top. On her right arm, a denim jacket draped. A bag slung on back and suddenly, her old friend looks like how she did back in high school. A girl who rocks denim jackets and simple clothes.

"That was quite a long shift." Rapunzel said as she stretched. "Let's go?"

Merida nodded.

They rode a cab, talking about their lives and what changed. Nothing much changed except for her breaking up with her high school boyfriend and meeting a new guy named Jack.

"So tell me, what's up?" Rapunzel said.

"Well, I've decided to leave the house." Merida answered. "My parents and I had an agreement that after I finish my degree, they'll let me leave the house for good."

"I'm surprised they agreed." Rapunzel said and Merida nodded.

"I can clearly see why."

After minutes of riding, the cab finally stopped on a building in the middle of other buildings. Together, the series of buildings look like they were built in a different era. The building that they were standing in front of looked like it had been there for a long time. The walls were painted white and the doors were painted black. Moss were clinging on some parts of the wall, making the building look like a medieval cottage. Although it wasn't really like that, but Merida reminded her of the old buildings she sees in the movies. The numbers "112" were displayed on each door followed with letters from A to C.

"Berker Street." Merida read the sign as she unloaded her luggage from the trunk of the cab.

"Yep!" Rapunzel exclaimed. "The rooms B and C are occupied. You're lucky to have one room waiting for you."

Merida looked at Rapunzel. "Who's living in C?"

"The owner." Rapunzel answered. "She lives here sometimes but she mostly stays at her house with her husband."

"And B?" Merida asked, staring at the door.

"How would I know?" Rapunzel asked as she ring the room 112C's door.

Seconds later, the door swung open. An old woman stood on the front door wearing a red apron. She have a big smile plastered on her face.

"May I help you?" The lady asked.

"Mrs. Gobber, right?" Rapunzel said.

"Yes, it is me." She answered.

Rapunzel patted Merida on the back and said, "This is my friend and she's looking for a flat."

Author's Note: 112 and Berker Street are the corniest things that I've ever thought of. Ugh. But it's better than nothing, right?

As you can see, this is a Sherlock Holmes-inspired Mericcup FanFiction. I am not good at solving crimes and mysteries, but it's worth the shot!
