I remember the day well. It was a cold day, mid January so still winter. They were huddled in the corner while I was pushed into a small tunnel that had been created by debris. I was young but not to young. I was old enough to know what was about to happen...
The door was kicked open revealing pale light from the grey clouds. I saw tall dark shadows surround my family as they all shook in fear. I was stuck. I couldn't get out of the tunnel without making noise.
The men were dressed in army uniforms, but they were blacker then midnight. Their faces were cover with masks that hid their identity. They had numbers imprinted on their back. Most of them were faded, I couldn't see the numbers on some.
But there was one person I saw whose number has stuck with me since I saw it. He was young, couldn't have been much older then me at the time. It the number I hate but the only one I remember. It haunts me when I sleep. I see it floating above me at the strangest times.
He was listed in my mind and one thing.
