Phil's P.O.V.

I yawned, opening my eyes to the light of dawn peaking in over the curtains. By the clock it was just past seven o'clock and as it was the weekend there was no rush to get up apart from the fact that Jay had an appointment at the hospital at noon, but there was no rush to get to that.

I could feel Dan, with his head curled into my shoulder and his breathing slow, his curls tickling the side of my neck. I gently moved them out of the way, feeling the thick duvet weighting down on my back and Dan's weight mostly on top of me, making it a lot more difficult to move than it should have been.

I was smiling a little bit, Dan never normally slept so soundly and it was nice to see him like that, peaceful.

I relaxed again, just waiting for him to wake up instead of trying to wake him myself and then closed my eyes again, going straight back to sleep.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Phil?" The voice was low and quiet, very sleepy too. I cracked open one eye and looked around to see Dan, his arms curled up beside his head and eyes open, looking straight up at me with tired eyes.

"Yeah?" My voice was deeper than normal and I coughed before curling in closer to Dan again, his hands immediately clinging to my chest.

"What's the time?" I turned my head to the clock.

"Just gone 9, I'll go and check on Jay quickly." I stood up and regretted it at once, feeling the cold morning air hit my skin. I took one of the blankets off the bed and then made my way down to Jay's room, where I saw her door cracked open and her lights on.

I peaked my head around the door and saw Jay sitting up in bed, the Harry Potter book back on her lap and her eyes scanning the page. I had noticed her improvement in reading over the past month and could see that she was reading faster and better, even with all that had happened.

She didn't notice me so I took a couple of seconds to just look at her and see how much she had changed over the 8 months we had been with her. She had grown taller by a few centimetres and had filled out a little more, not so much skin and bones as she had been before.

Her stomach was more noticeable now, at roughly 3 and a half months pregnant, and still Dan and I hadn't talked to her about it, which we needed to do, badly. Louise had told us what she had said when she was upset and we had picked up that she didn't want to terminate the pregnancy, which we were fine with.

In fact, I think both of us were looking forward to the baby and it would give us something more to do. It would possibly keep Jay's mind off things too, but we were still uncertain about what would happen. Although she still seemed to have different moods, both happy and sad, I was hopeful for the future.

"Hey Phil?" I smiled and came further in the room, sitting down on the bed beside her.

"Morning, just came to check on you to see how you are." She inclined her head.

"I'm fine." She was shivering a little bit so I reached out and hugged her, knocking her book onto the floor. "Just a little sore."

"Where?" She rubbed her stomach.

"Stomach, it's, like, I don't know- cramping?" I shifted a little.

"Do you want any painkillers?" She shook her head, just curling in closer to get some warmth.

"Where's Dan?" I laughed, rubbing her back.

"Still in bed, he won't be up for a few hours at least the lazy bum." Jay grinned, leaning over the side of the bed to grab her book but sat back, yelping. She placed on hand over the stump of her leg and hissed in pain, sitting back further on the bed so she could sit still for a second.

"You okay?"

"My leg just flared up all of a sudden." I gently shifted the blankets aside and saw that she still had the covering, which was almost a bandage, on the end of her leg. The covering was mostly for when she used her prosthetic but she seemed to have taken to wearing it all the time to avoid showing the ugly scar that was still healing.

It had started to fade to just light red outline around where the stitching used to be but the skin was still was still ugly and lumpy around the scar and would probably stay that way forever.

"Are you sure you don't want any painkillers?" She sighed.

"Sure, fine."

"Hold up, just stay there and I'll go and get them." I pushed the blankets off my lap and slid to the floor, padding down to my room, where Dan was sleeping, and where I knew I had some painkillers.

Dan was awake, attempting to kick the blanket off himself and rolling around, sighing. He looked up when I came in, at first reaching out his arms and then whining in annoyance when I turned away from him to search in my backpack for the painkillers.

"Is Jay awake?" I nodded.

"Yeah, I'm just getting her some painkillers because her leg's sore." Dan kicked the blankets more forcefully and knocked them too the floor, sitting up tiredly and pulling on a sweatshirt over his huge t-shirt to stay warm. He stumbled over to where I was sitting, digging through my bag, and leaned heavily into my shoulder.

I kissed him before crying out in triumph as my hand closed around the small packet of painkillers. I took Dan's hand and led him from our room and down to Jay's, where I saw her door now wide open and the light off, meaning she had left. Just to make sure I poked my head around the door and saw that, yes, she was gone.

I clattered down the stairs with Dan stomping along beside me, his usual tiredness showing through with his heavy steps and made our way into the kitchen where Jay was perched on the bench with her computer propped up beside her. She nodded in our direction.

"Mornin' guys." I handed the packet to her and then turned to the packet of cereal that was sitting on the bench and the milk that was beside it. Dan's eyes were on it too and we both reached out for it at the same time, our hands scrabbling for the box but Dan was triumphant.

He claimed his prize by squeezing the box fiercely, peaking inside to see how much cereal that was left and then grinned.

"There's only enough left for one bowl! And it's mine!" I groaned, attempting one last time to tug the box from his hand but he glared at me, squeezing the box tighter to his chest.

In one last attempt I gave him my puppy eyes but Dan shook his head, grinning even wider as I scrabbled at the box, hoping I'd get at least something, because I didn't really want toast. Jay was looking in between Dan and I with the tiniest of smiles on her face and one hand covering it, trying not to giggle.

"Please Dan?"

"No! It's my cereal!" To cement his point he turned and poured the remainder of the cereal into one bowl and then splashed some milk on top of it, grabbing a spoon from the draw rather loudly and then lifted a mouthful up to his mouth, dripping milk down his chin.

"See, mine."
