Adeline Carter's POV
I have about 10 women, my mom and Sofia included, clucking and faffing around trying to get me looking perfect.
Of course it stings that my dad won't be there, but it's whatever.
He was never there, anyway.
You don't miss what you don't have.
His work was always more important.
Every school performance, dance recital, gymnastics tournaments, musical concert, he missed...
What was I expecting?
And now, just as my brother and mom took his place all those years ago, he is taking his place now.
I'm getting married to the man I am admittedly falling quite hard for and there is nothing that he can do to stop it...
"You're done!" Maria announces.
I open my eyes and my mouth drops open.
My hair and makeup are flawless!
I'm ready....

We arrive at the church, 15, minutes later.
Elijah stands by me, my arm wrapped around his.
He looks as if he might just cry.
I smile at him and use my thumb to wipe away the tear.
"Elijah, don't cry!" I say.
"I can't help it!" He whispers.
"My little sister is getting married!" He says.
I shush him and try not to laugh too much.
"Don't worry about me, I'll be just fine" I tell him.
"I love you" He says.
"I love you too" I tell him.
We behind the doors, waiting for them to open and I'm so nervous that I have butterflies.
The doors suddenly opened and the wedding song starts to play.
It's time...
