LACEY
I'm pitching for the boys.
ZED
Then I'm pitching for the girls.
ADDISON
I want to be the guys' umpire.
BONZO

ELIZA
Okay. Bonzo says he's wants to be the girls' umpire.
BUCKY
Where are the bats?
TRACEY
(Runs over to a little opening and returns with a bag full of baseball bats)
BUCKY
Now we're in business. I'll bat first.
BREE
Uh, excuse me but first we need to flip a coin to see which team goes first.
ELIZA
(Takes a coin out her pocket)
Call it boys.
(Tosses the coin up in the air)
ZED
Tails!
ELIZA
(Catches the coin)
Tails it is. The boys are first
BUCKY
Yes! I'm batting first
TRACEY
Everyone should take their positions
BREE
I'll be on third base
ELIZA
I'll take second then
LACEY
Wait, then who's gonna guard first? I'm the pitcher and Addison is the umpire, we need one more girl
ADDISON
That's true. Someone has to guard first base.
TRACEY
Call Stacey and I guess I can call Dylan
ZED
Who's Dylan?
LACEY
His cousin. You know, the cheerleader with a little more meat on his bones and red hair. I think Bucky kicked him off the squad for wearing zombie apparel a couple of weeks ago
BUCKY
He was reinstated like everyone else who was kicked off the squad just for wearing zombie apparel. Can we please get over it? Jeez
ZED
Oh yeah. I know who you're talking about, he asked me for an autograph literally every day. I didn't know that he was your cousin, Tracey.
TRACEY
Yeah, we don't socialize in school too much. He's more of the quiet type. Likes to keep to himself. In fact, I'm surprised he even tried out for cheerleading.
BUCKY
I'm surprised at how good he is. I've known Dylan since middle school, and he's always been quiet. Actually, it'll be good to hang out with him outside of practice. Call him Tracey.
TRACEY
You want me to call Stacey first or Dylan?
LACEY
I'll call Stacey.
TRACEY
(Nods)
Both Tracey and Lacey simultaneously call Stacey and Dylan, then wait for them to answer. Dylan's the first one to answer after listening to the phone ring three times.
DYLAN (O.S.)
Hello?
TRACEY
Hey cuz
DYLAN (O.S.)
Hey what's up?
TRACEY
Nothing much, chilling with some fellow mighty shrimp
DYLAN (O.S.)
Oh cool
Lacey having not gotten an answer from Stacey on her first attempt at calling her, redialed the number. After a few rings, Stacey finally answered.
STACEY (O.S.)
What's the big emergency? I was watching a really scary movie
LACEY
Without me?
STACEY (O.S.)
I wanted to check it out first to see if it would be too scary for you guys
LACEY
(Scoffs and giggles)
Yeah right nice save. Anyways, get dressed
STACEY (O.S.)
Why?
LACEY
A little late night baseball action
Dylan and Stacey simultaneously appear on camera as both Tracey and Lacey continue to fill them in.
TRACEY/LACEY
It'll be fun
DYLAN
It does sound fun
STACEY
What's fun about being out late at night and getting eaten up by mosquitoes?
TRACEY
So are you coming?
LACEY
There's no mosquitoes out silly, it's getting cold outside
STACEY
Oh yeah, you're right. Alright I'm in
DYLAN
Well I'll have to sneak out cause you know how mom is
TRACEY
Oh I definitely know how aunt Darcy is
DYLAN
Give me fifteen minutes, I'll be there
TRACEY
Awesome. See ya later cuz
DYLAN
See ya
TRACEY
(Hangs up and looks around)
He said he'll be here in fifteen minutes
LACEY
Make sure you're dressed in something comfortable to run in, Stace
STACEY
Duh, of course. I'll be there in a little while. Bye
(Hangs up)
LACEY
(Puts her phone in her pocket)
Stacey's on her way now
ZED
Cool. You guys want to do some practice runs until Dylan and Stacey get here?
ELIZA
That's a wise idea, you know, practice. So you guys don't lose too badly this time
(Smirks)
BUCKY
Excuse me but remind me who were the ones who lost the last event? I think it rhymes with twirls
BREE
But remind us who won the other two events? That also rhymes with twirls
ZED
(Rolls his eyes)
Okay that's it. This final game is winner takes all.
BUCKY
I like the sound of that
BONZO
(Smiles and crosses his arms over his chest)
TRACEY
I can get behind that
ADDISON
(Looks at Eliza, Bree, and Lacey)
LACEY
(Nods)
I'm definitely down
BREE
Yeah me too. A chance to shut them up once and all
ELIZA
Um it's Bucky, he would not shut up even if he was dangling over a shark tank
ADDISON
(Giggles)
That's true
BREE
(Laughs)
Wow
LACEY
If that isn't the truth. There's times in practice where he's just talk, talk, talking and we're all falling asleep.
BUCKY
Hey!
LACEY
(Smiles and waves at him)
Hey!
BUCKY
I do not talk that much
ZED
Uh yes you do buddy. But it's okay
TRACEY
You yell a lot too
BUCKY
(Looks at him)
TRACEY
(Shrugs)
I'm just being honest
BREE
So are we going to practice or not?
ZED
Yeah let's go
Zed leads the boys over to the batting section and hands Bucky a bat. He then looks over at Lacey and signals her over with two of his fingers. She quickly runs over with a baseball and smiles.
ZED
Addie, do you still want to be the umpire?
ADDISON
Yeah of course
ZED
Come on then
ADDISON
(Runs over and gets behind Bucky)
LACEY
Are you ready?
BUCKY
I think the question is are you ready?
LACEY
(Smirks)
Don't say I didn't warn ya
(Wounds up her arm and throws the baseball)
BUCKY
(Swings and misses)
ADDISON
(Catches the ball)
Strike 1!
(Stands up and throws the ball back to Lacey)
LACEY
(Wounds her arm up and tosses the ball again)
BUCKY
(Swings and hits the ball)
ADDISON
(Watches the ball soar through the sky)
Wow
LACEY
Someone catch that!
ELIZA
(Runs)
I got it, I got it
BREE
I got it
(Bumps into Eliza)
ELIZA
(Falls)
BREE
(Falls)
The ball continues to soar through the sky, slowly making a downward spiral. As it looks like Bucky just may have hit a home run, Stacey suddenly appears out of nowhere and catches the ball.
STACEY
Actually, I've got it
ADDISON
Stacey!
LACEY
Stacey!
BUCKY
Darn it Stacey!
BREE
(Stands and helps Eliza up)
I'm sorry about that
ELIZA
(Dusts herself off)
Don't worry about it
STACEY
(Smiles)
Hey guys
ELIZA
Perfect timing
ZED
Yeah not really
BUCKY
(Shakes his head)
TRACEY
You couldn't wait like three seconds?
STACEY
(Giggles)
I'm assuming that was the boys hit I just stopped
LACEY
Yep but we're just practicing right now so I don't know why they're so temperamental
ADDISON
One down one more to go. All we need now is Dylan
BREE
And with a swing like that, Lacey you've got to strike Bucky out
LACEY
(Nods)
I see what I'm going to have to do for him
BUCKY
What are you going to have to do for me?
LACEY
(Smirks)
