Andrei's POV
" . . . . Andrei . . . Andrei . . . open up! Please open up bestie!"
"Huh? What's that?"
"Hey, Andrei . . . open up girl!" Familiar voices were calling my name.
"Oh, God! Who's that?" I was jolted to consciousness by the heavy pounding on the front door. My hands went immediately to my head which was now throbbing with an onset of a headache. My eyes flew to the clock on the side table.
"What??? It's still seven in the morning . . . why are they here?" I groaned in exasperation!
Groggily I felt for my slippers under the bed as I got to my feet. I recognized of course the voices of my best friends.
"Andrei, girl! Open up!" Davey's now seemingly irritated voice boomed outside.
"Wait a second . . . !" I croaked as I came out of my bedroom.
"Andrei . . . "
"Yeah . . . yeah . . . I'm coming!" When I found my voice, I hollered back to let them know that I heard them.
"Oh, why have you come this early in the morning besties?" I asked my three best friends as I leaned heavily on the now opened door, yawning loudly.
"Don't you just stand there bestie! Aren't you going to let us in . . . ?" Angela and Hyacinth complained.
"Can't I just send you all home . . . ?" I complained, hoping they'd leave. My voice sounded to my ears like a zombie, or a person who has dual personalities who'd just awakened. Oh, I just felt like one right now as I grumbled inwardly!
"Oh no! You can't, since we're here now. Besides, we've brought breakfast!" Davey, who got two armful of seemingly tempting and deliciously scented food stuff in two large paperbags informed me haughtily.
"Yes, yes . . . of course!" At the mention of breakfast, my stomach responded with a very loud grumbling sound.
I opened the door wider, closing my eyes momentarily to get my bearing while groaning inwardly.
"Ohhhh, I'm so sleepy I just want to get back to bed!" I managed to complain.
"Why all so grumpy this morning best friend, hmmm?" Angela asked.
"Good morning bestie! Good morning Andrei! Good morning!" My three best friends greeted me cheerily, each gave me a hug, then they all crowded into the house and took command of my kitchen.
Or so, I thought! I opened my eyes about to head towards the kitchen, only to bump on someone who seemed heavyset!
"So you think I've forgotten about last night, hah?" Davey was in front blocking my way.
Ooppps! I almost forgot about it! I looked at Davey assessing his mood. As much as I wanted to shout out my feelings and tell my best friends . . . however, my doubts . . . fears . . . worries and insecurities greatly outweighed my excitement right this very moment.
"Hmm . . . nooooo! I haven't of course!"
"Uhuh, and I think . . . you've got a lot to tell us bestie, and you gonna tell us every single juicy detail about it, okay?" Davey inclined his head to the side, emphasizing his no nonsense curiosity!
"Uh oh, but I remember quite clearly now that we agreed on your coming here at 11:30 today . . . and you said you'd bring lunch." I said to Davey, remembering the time we had agreed on.
"Yeah, yeah! I made sure I brought more than enough for two meals, alright missy? And, since your best friends were all so excited to hear about the latest . . . the juiciest gossip in town . . ." Waving his hand.
"Hey guys! Are we having breakfast yet or not . . . ? If you aren't hungry, we are!" Angela hollered from the kitchen.
"Sure! We'll be there in a sec . . . !" Davey answered back in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear.
" . . . and we're gonna talk! Rather . . . you're gonna talk during breakfast, Andrei. The girl who had no love life . . . no night life in . . . like forever, will be talking!!!" Davey fixed his forefinger at my chest before he marched into the kitchen with a wide grin!
"Alright!" I whispered rolling my eyes at Davey's back, trailing after my staunch supporter and best friend since kinder days. But right now, he's acting like a bully, not my champion!
Yet, probably he's right, I might as well gather my guts and spill the beans. For I feel like a volcano now that's about to have its majestic moment.
I can't exactly tell what I'm feeling just right now, because I'm a mixture of all emotions . . . and just floating, oh, like a balloon!
"Andrei, c'mon girl! Hurry up . . . "
"Uh oh! I'm now being summoned in my own turf!" I whispered to myself grumbling.
Davey was now shouting, though I know he wasn't actually. It was just his big voice.
I nodded to no one in particular before reaching the island table. My three best friends had already taken to their stools.
When grandma was alive, my best friends used to hang out here. She didn't mind their chatter, saying that she enjoyed their youthful exuberance which kept her mind off morbid things like the recent death of both my parents. Yeah, we were still in high school that time.
"Hurry up please bestie . . . " Angela glared her eyes at me.
"Heavens . . . what sumptuous goodies! Thanks for bringing breakfast . . . !" I said, my eyes feasted on the food display at the table.
There were waffles and pancakes, bacon and ham, buttered vegetable omelette, plump tomatoes, toast, cinnamon rolls, cheese! Yeah, and Swiss cheese, and fruit and nut granolas . . . ohhhh, my mouth's watering!
I haven't had my dinner last night. However much mouth-watering dinner was, my mind was so full of Ashton that food was the least of the things that kept my mind occupied!
I gasped at the memory, my eyes almost popped off their sockets when my mind turned to what happened just hours ago.
Am I having a love life now??? Oh, wow!
Hello! Is this the beginning of a love . . . story? Eww! Yet, I couldn't help the smile that was already forming in my lips. I right away supported my face with both of my palms and planted my elbows on the table. Then I closed my eyes feigning sleep before anyone would ever notice me.
This day dreaming really has gotten to me like I'm in dreamland one moment, then re-enter into reality the next!
"Oh, Ashton . . . I miss you!"
"Andrei . . . helloooo . . . are you here?" Davey was snapping his fingers at me.
"What? What?" I feigned irritation in my voice.
"We were talking to you, girl . . . !"
"Yeah! And . . . you just had that certain drrreeamy look . . . !!!!!" Angela pointed out.
"Well . . . you had this monalisa smile on your face . . ." Hyacinth observed.
"Were you the Andrea Nicole . . . "
" . . . that we dropped here last night . . . ???" Davey furrowed his brows in concentration, looking at me like I was his favorite guinea pig!
" . . . 'cause I think, you definitely look different this morning . . . !" Angela eyed at me.
All my three best friends were now looking at me like I've suddenly grown two long horns and a tail.
"Uh oh. I think I've an idea what's happened to our best friend here." Davey gave me his signature haughty look with his arms akimbo in his waist!
"Please ! Please . . . besties!!! Enough of the bickering because . . . I'm . so . hungry!!!" Hyacinth raised her voice in her falsetto voice!
"Right! You say grace first Hyney please." I said in relief turning to her, glad for the timely interuption.
"Right . . . !" She gladly assented.
"Bless our food, Oh Lord . . . and our day ahead. May all these give us strength to face life in sound body and mind. Bless this circle of friends and family. This we pray . . . in the mighty name of your son, Jesus Christ!Amen."
