Jay's P.O.V.

As I looked out towards the window, my head empty of an negative thoughts I had previously had. I was sitting, peacefully, on the ground in the square of sun the window provided and letting the light wash over me, readying myself for whatever would come.

I wasn't scared anymore, although I had no power over what could happen I knew that everyone involved was only human, just as I was. Maybe someone would have mercy, although they hadn't shown it last time I was there with them.

I truly doubted it, but it was the thought that kept me grounded. I had no hope of the police finding me in time, I knew for a fact that I was hours out of London and they had no way of finding me unless someone had physically seen me, which I knew they hadn't. I had been kept in the dark since the beginning.

Outside the window a pair of feet wandered past, blocking the light for a few seconds and I frowned. Unless there was a guard outside that I didn't know about, there was no reason anyone should be outside the window. From what I could see there was grass growing outside, meaning I was either right next to someone's backyard or the whole thing was just overgrown, a good possibility considering the state of the basement.

Roughly a minute after the feet wandered past, another pair and then another blocked the light for a few seconds, making the light flicker. I stood up, watching for anything outside in the hope that I could tell what it was.

When a pair of boots walked past again I looked at them carefully and although I was standing a few metres away to see out, I saw the practical black boots and the blue trouser legs. The police.

A sudden shot of pain ran through my chest, where I had previously thought my ribs had been broken. I hadn't paid much attention to the injury since I had sustained it and I knew at once that it had grown worse, as it was much, much more painful.

I fell back against the wall, clutching my stomach and breathing heavily, hoping the pain would subside in the passing minutes.

I lay down, one hand over my ribs and the other on my forehead, pulling at my hair. I ran one hand over my stomach, pressing down gently and flinching when I pushed down on sensitive spots but I sighed in relief when I didn't feel any intense pain around my ribs, meaning they hopefully weren't broken.

My mind immediately thought back to the boots wandering around outside and jumped, the sudden realization coming over me. The police, or who I thought were the police, were outside, then. Right then.

My eyes made their way over to the window, there was no more action of footsteps, only silence and the sound of the wind blowing all around. I coughed, the bruises flaring for a few seconds and then the pain faded again, my fingers shaking with the pain of moving.

It was silent for another few seconds before I heard several loud bangs and crashes and yelling, a door being pushed down. There were several loud sets of footsteps above my head and more voices, yelling, screaming unintelligible words.

I stood up, realising I could be in danger and moved to beside the stairs, crouching down so if someone came into the room they couldn't see me, my legs pulled up to my chest. My breathing was getting steadily heavier, panic setting in and my entire body shaking. I supported myself with the side of the stairs, desperately trying to calm myself and listen, while the footsteps and yelling continued on above me.

Above me the door opened and I froze, backing myself as far up into the corner as I could go. I watched as the man, with a thin build and was slightly above average height spun in circles, his eyes trailing the darkest corners of the room to try and find me.

"Where are you, you little shit...."

I knew it was my father, even though it was too dark to see his face I could already tell it was him, just from his build alone. He continued to turn, his eyes dragging along the walls and staring into the shadows, then directly at me.

"Gotcha." He pounced, dragging me from the shadows with a death grip in my shoulders, and I screamed. I desperately thrashed around, attempting to tug my arms out of his grip and screaming again, yanking myself away.

I turned and bolted up the stairs, only to be pulled back by my ripped jeans, one of the legs trailing behind me from a day or two before. I was yanked back down the stairs, tumbling onto the ground and narrowly missing hitting my head on the floor and then was pulled onto my feet by a pair of hands, my feet dangling in the air as I was held up my armpits.

One of my fathers arms was wrapped around my neck, the other under my arm and across my chest, supporting me and effectively immobilising me so I couldn't move my arms at all. The arm across my neck was effectively strangling me and I started choking, my legs kicking out weakly.

"St-Stop!" I coughed, trying to scream and grab the attention of someone that was on my side. My vision was starting to fade, fast, and I screamed once more to attract any attention in the hopes that I could get someone, anyone, to help.

My vision went black for a few seconds before I was released, falling to the ground, coughing.

"Stop! Let her go!" I was pulled to my feet again, hardly able to stand and I felt a thin blade placed to my neck, and I froze. I knew it was a knife and I could feel the silver started to pierce my skin, causing pain to flush through my body and I felt tears start to prick in my eyes.

"Sir I'm going to have to ask you to let her go." I felt the blade pushed even further against my neck and I gasped, the pain growing with every second. My eyes started to flicker and I could feel the blood starting to drip down my neck, my body feeling numb. I was going into shock, my brain starting to fade into black.

I felt the blade suddenly move and then it cut deep into my thigh and I screamed, feeling the blood running thick and fast down my leg. The cut was deep and I was already backing out, blood loss causing my head to spin.

The blade suddenly continued to deepen the cut in my neck and I coughed, spraying blood. I heard a shot and then a thump behind me and I turned my head weakly, only to see my father bleeding from his forehead and slumped on the ground, eyes open and blank.

I attempted to scramble back backwards and away for a few seconds before I felt myself being lifted off the ground, the pain in my neck and leg soaring. I looked over at the person holding me, fear in my heart and as soon as I saw the police badge on blue uniform, I relaxed.

"Easy kiddo, we've come to get you out of here." I felt the blood dripping down my neck and almost spewing down my leg before everything came crashing down on me. I was safe. I was going home.

And then everything turned black.
