Chapter 33- touch me and i'll crush those pea-sized balls
I wake up abruptly to something making noise downstairs and sit up in bed. I take deep breaths in and turn the lamp on. I look around and don't see violet anywhere.
"Violet?" I call out but no one replies.
I look to the side and find my phone. I check it and realize that it's 11:57 A.M. I sigh and get out of the bed.
They decided to go to sleep early tonight because they wanted to be ready for tomorrow. Which is about to be in like 3 minutes.
I walk out of the room and it's dark outside.
It has been 2 days since we came to the barn house and they didn't let me go outside in the backyard.
Apparently, they have been decorating the whole place for my birthday party.
They forced me to go to sleep at 7 tonight. Who can go to sleep that early? I'm not a grandma. To make sure that I wouldn't leave the room, Violet stayed with me until I fell asleep.
I don't even know when that was.
I sigh and look at the stairs. I turn my flashlight on and slowly walk down the stairs.
I reach the ground floor and find someone's shadow outside the door leading to the backyard.
Is that a thief?
He was the one who dropped something on the floor. I will get you thief.
I quickly turn my flashlight off and stand right next to the backyard door. I try to take a peek at the person but the shadow vanished.
I look around and it's dark.
Suddenly the backyard door opens and someone walks in with a hockey stick. I gasp and put my phone in my back pocket.
Just as I'm about to punch this person, the lights turn on and I close my eyes.
"Happy birthday!" I hear everyone screaming.
I turn around and open my eyes to find Kate and Chris, wearing the birthday hats. Tyler and violet are blowing the whistle while Ian plays the happy birthday song.
I smile and they all quickly walk towards me and pull me into a group hug. "Thank you guys."
Suddenly I realize that a thief walked into the house. "There's a—" I start as I turn around to find Cayson.
"Did you see where the shadow man went?" I ask and he smiles.
I look at Cayson who's holding onto the hockey stick. "Oh," I breath out. "It was you."
"Yeah," he mutters and walks towards me. "Happy birthday Stavish."
"Thank you little shit," I whisper back.
"So you like it?" Tyler asks and I look up to find decors everywhere.
"Wow," I breath out and look around to find balloons and glitter everywhere. "Really, glitter?"
"Not my idea," Tyler puts his hands up in the air.
"It was me," Ian comes forward. "It's just that, I remember you liked purple glitter back in 5th grade. So I decided to put it up on your eighteenth birthday."
"No need for an explanation Ian. I knew it was you, if I'm being honest. It's just I was surprised to see it again," I reply back. "You didn't forget."
He smiles. "How can I?"
I smile and Kate takes me to the dining room where there's a small cake on the table. "Okay, who made this?" I ask while looking at an uneven chocolate cake sitting on the plate.
Everyone points to their right and Tyler's finger points to Cayson. I look at him who scratches his collar.
"Uh- I tried..." he replies back and I smile.
"Thank you," I mutter back and he flashes a smile at me.
Everyone smiles.
"You need to hear how they made it," Kate replies.
"They?" I ask.
"Yeah, Cayson made half of it and then other half is made by Tyler, Chris and Ian," Violet answers back.
I turn to find the boys looking everywhere but me. "Well, that's a story for another time."
Kate pulls out a lighter and lights the 18 small candles on the cake. "Alright."
They all start to sing happy birthday to me and I just stand there. It's so weird, like i don't know what to do while I just stand there and look at them.
I've had my fair share of awkward and weird.
"Make a wish," Ian says and I close my eyes.
I wish my friends never see an unhappy day in their lives nor does Cayson. Help me fulfill this wish, please.
I open my eyes and blow the candles and they all start clapping. "What'd you wish for?" Tyler asks.
"It wouldn't be fulfilled if I told you what it was," I reply back and smile.
Tyler walks towards me slowly with a smirk on his face and I narrow my brows to figure out what he's trying to do.
Before he could do anything, I quickly backed away and stood behind Cayson.
"Come on Vee, don't hide from us," Chris says in a deep tone and I shake my head sideways.
"Touch me and I will crush those pea-sized balls," I threaten Chris, who stops in his steps for a second and ponders before resuming his walking.
"C'mon Vee, it's just a dot," Tyler says while dipping his finger in the cake.
"Don't," I warn him and grab Cayson's shirt. "I hate cake on my face."
"Which is why I will enjoy it," Tyler says, weirdly wiggling his wingers in the air.
"Fine, one dot," I reply back and he stops and walks over to the cake.
"Yeah, sure."
"Promise me," I say and he stares at me.
"C'mon I can't promise only one dot, maybe two?"
"Only one," I whine.
"Fine geez."
I slowly let go of Cayson's shirt and walk towards Tyler and Chris. I close my eyes and stop at where the cake is. "Here, one dot."
Suddenly I feel someone's hand at the back of my head and my head is yanked forward and into the cake.
I hear laughs, chuckles and a single gasp, which is probably Cayson, thinking of how cruel my friends are to me.
I pull my face out of the cake and open my eyes to notice Tyler, literally cackling along with violet and Chris. While Kate and Ian just laugh.
I will get the dumbass for this.
I take the cake from my face and create a ball while everyone is just laughing while Cayson smirks.
I nod and he ducks while I throw the ball, made of cake, towards Tyler's face. It perfectly sticks to Tyler's face and he stops laughing and chokes.
"What the fuck?"
I grab some more and make balls and throw two more at Chris and violet who are currently laughing at Tyler's condition.
Tyler points to their faces and starts laughing.
I make another ball of cake and throw it at Tyler's face and he stops laughing. I point to his face and start laughing along with Cayson and Ian.
"Cake fight," Tyler alarms everyone and we all start grabbing cake from the floor and table and throw it at one another.
I throw some cake towards Chris's direction but he ducks and it lands on cayson's face.
"Fuck."
"Haha," Chris bursts into laughter not long when Kate throws cake and it lands in his mouth and he chokes.
Kate starts laughing as violet approaches her and rubs her palms on her face.
This keeps going on.
I look around and notice that they are all happy. Guess who got their wish?
I smile and get into the cake fight again.
