"are you ready?"
I look away from the mirror to the bathroom door to see Zeus leaning against the door frame hands in his dress pant's pockets, the nicely fitted navy blue suit complemented his body in all the right places, I cleared my throat, I must have been deep in thoughts since I did not sense him stepping into the room at all and my hair is just not listening to me this morning, well it never does but this looks ridiculous,

I roughly tousled my hair in frustration before pulling it up in a messy bun, I give up
"sorry, yes I'm ready now, let's go"
after dinner last night Zeus also annouced he was getting back to work today and I agreed to let him drive me, since we're going to the same place then why would I walk there if he could just drive me, I'm not that petty,
Lilly and her mate left shortly after and maybe because we did not want to make it awkward we just called it a night and headed to our rooms separately
we both decided to skip breakfast when we woke up , apparantly neither of us is a fan of food first thing in the morning
I took one last glance at the mirror to check if everything is in place, I had on a pair of black ripped skinny jeans with a loose mid thigh white cutton shirt and my black timberlands, I quickly grapped my leather jacket and backpack before heading toward Zeus who stood patiently waiting for me downstairs, briefcase in one hand and his long black coat in the other
hmm this is a bit too domestic for me
"let's head out"
the elevator ride was a quiet affair, neither of us said anything until we got to the car and he opened the door for me like the good mate he is
a scoff escaped me and he looked at me confusingly
"what's funny?"
"oh! nothing.. I just remembered an old joke" I'm obviously lying and I'm sure he can tell that already but decided not to press the matter and just shook his head and walked to he driver's seat to get in I was buckling myself in when I felt eyes looking in my direction then saw a dark shadow pass by from the corner of my eye, shivers ran down my spine, I froze in place and whipped my head to look but there was nothing, no moving bushes or anything indicating a slight movement, it was like any other gloomy early winter morning
that's odd
"what's wrong?" Zeus asked trying to look passed me and through the window to see if there's anything suspicious
"hm? I thought I saw something" his eyes narrowed at the statement and he took a deep breath staring intensely at the woods surrounding us
"there's no scents near by except ours, are you sure?"
I was definitely not imagining things
"yes I'm sure"
"no one could go through the pack warriors and gards but I'll tell them to take a look just in case"
we drove off, holding my backpack between my arms I kept gazing throught the window into the semi dark forest surrounding us, it just gave me such an eerie feeling all of the sudden, I can feel Zeus's eyes drift my way every so often before glancing at the rear-view mirror
"there's really nothing in there Akio, just relax, my warriors just checked and I also would have felt it if there was a rogue hanging outside my building"

a growl from Zeus made me snap my eyes his way, he had a tight hold on the wheel, his knuckles turning white with a slight tick to his sharp like knife jaw
"I can hear your thoughts Akio" he mumbled
"you can?" I asked, surprised
"I can and what you just said is offensive"
"was it? my bad" I turned away from him to stare out the window again
"that's it? you just questioned my Alpha abilities!" he all but growled out, my wolf was crawling annoyingly at my chest at the sound of his mate
" I did no such thing, I literally only said you're a great Alpha"
"don't play coy with me Akio, I know you were being sarcastic" I did not grace him with a reply and turned a deaf ear to whatever else he kept muttering about for the rest of the ride to the company
when we finally arrived I quickly got out of the car, with my backpack on one shoulder I head towards the entrance after a quiet 'thanks for the ride' to Zeus, I ignored the curious glaces everyone threw at me, obviously shocked and dying to know why am I riding their boss's car, and in the company of their beloved Alpha but as usual no one dared to approach me because they have this unwavering idea that I'm contagious with my rogue disease or something, not that I cared, I've gotten used to it
I kept my head low and headed straight to my small office closing the door gently behind me and taking a deep relieved breath, piles of work layed there untouched on my desk, a thin layer of dust covered the window's marble ledge, I wasn't even gone for a full week
I did a quick cleaning work to feel more comfortable in my environment then went all out on my assignments, I feel like I'm getting rusty already and it's not a pleasant feeling but the second I started on my first assignment all of my worries were forgotten, I tamed my wondering mind and kept all of my focus on my work that needed to be done, and that's how I spent my first hours back to work doing untill I got interrupted by a soft door knock that left me puzzeled for a few seconds
no one bothered knocking on my door before, ever.

I took a deep breath and got engulfed in Zeus's distinct scent
well he didn't bother knocking last time he was here either
aren't you being a tiny bit too cold Akio?
hm? should I embrace him and pat his back then? I mused

sorry, I know! I just..I feel like he's pitying me and you of all people know how much I despise that , and the fact that he's my mate hurt even more. I don't know what to do anymore
a cough brought me out of my trance making me look up and flinch back startled, Zeus was hunched over my desk, face inches away from mine with an amused expression
he tilted his head ever so slightly
"hello"
"hi" it came out more like a whisper, I cleared my throat and sat up straighter
"I've been standing here for like a minute, were you that deep in thoughts or were you just ignoring my entire existence?"
like what you did to me before? I wouldn't do that to my own mate, I scoffed inwardly
his face dropped in an instance, replaced by an unreadable expression
he heard that

before I could come up with something to say he straightened up, hands in his pockets he gave me a tight-lipped smile and said
"let's have lunch, everyone is downstairs in the cafeteria already and told me you'd be here when I asked"
"I'd rather stay here and not go anywhere near them" I said, running my fingers through the loose pieces of my hair as I shifted my gaze back to the screen in front of me
silence fell for a few mere moments before Zeus asked
"and why's that?"
I kept my eyes solely on the screen busying myself with the task at hand
"they're not really my biggest fans,and having lunch with their Alpha will start unnecessary gossip"
the prolonged silence afterwards made me look up to meet his eyes, sharp brows knitted together in a frown as he stared at me, I tilted my head questioningly not saying anything
"technically you're their luna, and they would come to find out that fact sooner or later don't you think?" he questioned
I inwardly scowled but kept a straight face
"I'm no one's Luna" and you agreed with that statment like a week ago
this sudden 180 degree attitude change is making me seethe, I inhaled a deep breath trying to calm myself down as I turned back to the screen typing furiously on the keyboard
"Akio.. don't be like this" he sighed out almost like he's exhausted with this whoel thing already
Akio Shizuo warned
"like what exactly? huh?" I kept my mask on but you can hear the hard edge in my tone
"I apologized already damn it!" he cried out, throwing his arms up in the air in what appears to be frustration, I don't know what the fuck is it for since I should be the one doing that
" and you think that instantly makes it better? that after your so called apology everything is suddenly okay? that in a blink I'd forget everything you've said? every cruel word that sprouted out of your mouth with no consideration to my feelings? you think the half assed apology you made out of sheer regret when you realized you messed up will make me feel better about myself? I waited years for you Zeus! years! and you crushed that silver of hope I had in finding a loving mate that would make all the shitty stuff that happened better when we're together, I held you to a higher standard, you crushed all that in seconds, I guess it's all my fault though isn't it? I should have learned years ago not to expect anything from people, nothing, because everyone cares only about themsevles, no one gives a shit about what you've been through, or your feelings, even your own mate, so yeah, jokes on me then"
the mask I had on, the stoic expression I used to protect myself over the years came crumbling down with every word I yelled as my eyes filled up with tears threatening to roll down my heated skin in any given moment
Zeus stood forzen in place, achen-faced ,eyes shifting between his deep brown ones to his wolf's fiery red
"I--I'm sorry!" he exclaimed
"don't" I growled out in warning
"I am!! I'm sorry! I'm so fucking sorry, I don't know what to do anymore, I want to fix this, fix us! please! I acted irrationally I'm aware of that but I promise you I'm not doing this out of regret or sympathy, I genuinely want to make things right Akio"
running a hand over my face I squeezed my eyes shut willing the tears back and whispered out tiredly
"get out"
"Akio plea-" he stammered out, something I couldn't identify clouded his eyes but I cut him off
"out"
he closed his eye for a brief moment seemingly trying to control his emotions before setting his gaze at me
"okay we can do this later at home, just please eat something, you collapsed literally two days ago so please"
and whose fault was that! I glared at him and motioned for the door with my hand, he held my gaze almost pleadingly debating whether to leave or not for what felt like a full minute until he eventually gave up and left, closing the door softly behind him
I dropped my head on he desk
"ugh! stupid, stupid stupid?"
I straightened up abruptly
"no! work, focus on work Akio, yes, let's just do our job and forget about everything and everyone else at the moment, who cares about that idiot Zeus anyways" I mumbled to myself, just when I finally managed to zone out a knock startled me, I turned to stare at the close door, not sensing Zeus anywhere near this area which confused me even more
seriously! what's with this politness?
"come in?"
not a second later a tall elegant women with a glowing tan skin stepped in, draped in a striped bodysuit paired with a white high-waisted skinny jeans and a pair of a black flat ankle boots, she had her black raven hair in a loose ponytail with a few pieces framing her slightly rounded face, she appeared to be in her late twenties but you can't really tell with shifters
"sorry for the interruption" she said with a small smile on her face
I have never seen here before
"oh, no it's okay, I'm sorry, just.. who are you?" I asked with the same soft tone she used, her lips widened even more revealing white pearly teeth
"I'm Linda, Mr Andrelly's secretary, he sent this for you" that's when I focused on the tray in her hands, she placed it gently on my desk
"please enjoy your meal, have a nice day" with a quick nod my way she headed out of my office leaving me dumbfounded
"Mr Andrelly? meal? what?" I whispered with a confused look on my face, I hesitantly lifted the lid off the plate then blinked slowly at the amount of food presented
three big juicy pieces of undercooked meat and a few chicken sticks on the side, some other meat looking things that I just cannot identify, am I supposed to eat all of this? I'm a wolf not a grizzly.
I put the lid down on the side and a small sauce container with a sticker note on it caught my attention

Literally me rn *sigh*
guys my cat got so sick last week I though it was the end for him, he would not eat for 3 days straight, I even went as far as to force a tiny piece of chicken in his mouth but he'd spit it right out, his cold was so bad he could not smell anything and because he couldn't smell the food he wouldn't eat it, and I'm broke af and could not afford to go to the vet but I did, lol I took my broke ass self there and had a talk with this lovely man , god bless him T.T he was like okay, I'll treat him and you can pay me back later T.T and that's what I did hehe I offered my ID for reassurance which he took❤️ now my over energized kitten is all better, need to do something about his claws tho, my poor hands looks like I work in construction with no gloves
