The next morning, when the gang was just getting ready for the day, Cindy stopped by and invited them to help her learn about the Grinch's history by asking the Who citizens who knew him best.
The twins went with Cindy to talk to two elderly sisters, who were the Grinch's original caretakers. David and Teeders went to talk with Martha May, who know the Grinch back when she was just a little girl in school. And Kali and Cynthia went to talk to the mayor, who also knew the Grinch back in his school days.
"Aw, why do we have to talk to that blundering mayor?" Cynthia pouted. "He's mean!"
"Would you rather talk to the prim, prissy, miss perfect Martha May?" Kali taunted her rich friend in a teasing tone, knowing how Cynthia felt around people like that.
"The mayor it is!" Cynthia quickly changed her mind.

The twins and Cindy soon arrived to talk to the Grinch's caretakers with a tape recorder.
"In your own words, please tell us everything you know about the Grinch" Cindy got everything ready as they sat down.
"Where did he come from?" Ann started with the first question.
"Oh boy, I feel a flashback coming on" Brock told himself.
Clarnella and Rose Who explained that the Grinch came the way all Who babies come. The flashback was starting.
"Oh, there. See? See! I told you so!" Brock stared into the fourth-wall as the flashback had started.
On calm nights, baby Who girls and tiny Who fellas, drift from the sky in their own pumbersellas.
"Oh, so that's how it works" Cindy realized.
"So... like Mr Stork?" Brock questioned.
"I wish human babies came that way" Ann said, since their culture was WAY different.
"Huh?" Cindy turned to Ann with a raised eyebrow.
"Nothing!" Ann quickly replied, darting her eyes away.
The flashback continued as the twins saw a baby Grinch floating through the sky in his pumbersella before landing just outside a house. It was Christmas Eve, and a strange wind blew that night. Clarnella and Rose were having their annual holiday get-together. It was morning before anyone realized that he was out there, the poor dear.
"But, we knew right away that he was special" Clarnella told the kids.
The twins continued seeing more flashbacks of the baby Grinch, even one where he ate the Santa cookie plate, although they weren't surprised by that.
"He was a wonderful.... whatever he was" Clarnella continued. "And we raised him like any other Who child: With a deep love of Christmas"
The twins kept seeing more flashbacks of the Grinch now in grade school with a classroom filled with regular Who students while he was the only different one.
Meanwhile~
Teeders and David had stopped at Martha May's house to talk to her on what she knew about the Grinch.
"The.... Grinch?..." Martha began.
"He had no sense of color coordination" She explained.
"Although I hardly remember him. I didn't have time to socialize. I was far too busy with my... studies"
Although Teeders and David could see what was really going on since they had the power to see flashbacks.

Kali and Cynthia had walked down into town and soon found the mayor and had the talk about the Grinch with him. Although the mayor obviously refused at first, he soon came to an agreement.
Kali and Cynthia started seeing a flashback of the young Grinch in school with a young Mayor Augustus and Martha May also.
"And if the truth be told... He liked Martha. Martha was my girlfriend" The mayor explained through the flashbacks.
"I don't like discussing this Grinch so very close to Christmas, but, maybe if you hear the truth you'll understand why" The mayor told the two teenage girls who glanced to each other briefly.
"I tried to take him under my wing" He started.
Kali and Cynthia continued watching the flashback as an eight-year-old Augustus bullied the poor misunderstood Grinch.
"You don't have a chance with her. You're eight-years-old and you have a beard!"
This caused for all the other students, except Martha, to laugh in mockery at the young Grinch.
"Yeah right" Cynthia grumbled under her breath, since she could clearly see the flashback.
But she and Kali let the mayor continue his part of the story.
The adventure kids continued watching the flashback of the young Martha May talking to the Grinch, smiling sweetly as she waved at him
"Did I have a crush on the Grinch?" Martha giggled like that was nonsense. "Of course not"
"Uh, we didn't ask you that" Teeders told Martha.
"Oh..." Martha realized. "Right..."
"The flashback says otherwise" David whispered to his friend, while hiding a snicker.
Back with Cindy and the twins~
"For some reason, when he came home that day he really got into the Xmas spirit for the first time" Clarnella explained.
The adventure kids watched the flashback of the young Grinch was making a special Xmas gift for Martha out of all kinds of homemade materials. But the young Grinch's happiness soon faded once he remembered his teacher saying how she wanted all her students to look their best tomorrow, and Augustus's mean comment about him having a bread.
The young Grinch soon took out an electric shaver in his hand and looked at it before turning it on.
"Oh no" Kali frowned as she knew what was probably going to result in this.
The next day didn't go so well for the poor Grinch. After taking a paper bag off to try and hide his face, everyone except Martha laughed at the Grinch's hack job attempt he did at shaving, making fun of him.
The Grinch got up, having lost his temper and angrily threw Martha's present aside, breaking it. "Stupid present! Stupid tree!"
Startling everyone as the Grinch lifted up the Xmas tree and shouted at the top of his lungs.
"I HATE Christmas!"
"The anger!" The mayor explained.
"The fury!" Whobris added.
"The muscles!" Martha expressed dramatically.
Everyone ran away, screaming as the Grinch threw the tree and then left.
"It was a horrible day, when they were so cruel to him. And... I could hardly bear it" Martha explained tragically.
The adventure kids watched sadly as the little Grinch ran away from home, all the way up to top of Mount Crumpit as the flashback concluded.
"And that was the last time we saw him... The very last time"
The gang met back up with each other after that and put their stories together. Feeling sorry for the poor Grinch, the adventure kids knew they had to help find a way for the Grinch to be accepted back into the Who's society.
Kali then suddenly heard something with her super sensitive ears that sounded like a loud yell that echoed from the top of Mount Crumpit. It was the Grinch, hating the Whos.
"We gotta do something about this" Teeders told the gang.
"I have an idea" Cindy spoke up, knowing the Whobilation would start only in a few hours.
"We're with you, Cindy" David told the little Who girl.
"Yeah, I guess" Cynthia shrugged her shoulders, not so sure if this plan would even work.
Meanwhile with the Grinch, on the top of Mount Crumpit~
"Tomorrow is Christmas!" The Grinch realized. "Its practically here"
"MAX! Fetch me my sedative"
"Now to take care of those pesky memories" The Grinch told himself.
