*Same day*

Do you ever get those deja vu moments?

They can appear at any time during any day and it just bugs you so much? I get those feelings constantly and I'd try and think on what I might've done that is related to the activity I'd be doing and I would always end up stumped.

The reason I brought up this topic was because I just had one. We were driving down a rocky path and all of a sudden my mother had hit the breaks and everyone flew to the front.

It ended up being a mother duck and baby ducklings crossing the road to get to the pond on the other side. During this whole thing, my mind went blank and a feeling that I've been in this car some other time while ducks passed by popped into my brain, I sat there and thought of any possible moment on what the ducks remind me of, but I just couldn't think of anything and I still can't.

Besides that, we arrived at my grandmother's beach house about ten minutes ago.

During the whole two hour car ride from the airport to the beach house, everyone was dead silent. Mason was texting Cece, Jake fell sleep, Caden was texting Casey and I was listening to music.

My father was writing in a journal and my mother was obviously focusing on the road. The whole time two thoughts were running through my head. One, what was Cece and Mason talking about that made Mason occasionally smile and two, what was so important for father to write in his journal and why did he have one in the first place. I would try and read what my father was writing over his shoulder, but I'd be on the weirdest angle or the sun would be hitting the page to make it impossible to read.

I walked up to my bedroom that I will be staying in for the next three weeks.

My grandmother redecorated the room a while ago for me to come over and visit, but I never had a chance before it and man, I loved it.My grandma is definitely a fashion guru and she is my go-to decorator.

Like, wow. Mason and Jake will be sharing a two bed room with a bunk bed and a view of the ocean. Caden has a room to himself since my grandma decorated a room for him too. My mother will be staying in my grandma's room, while my father sleeps on a futon downstairs.

My grandma really isn't really found with my father, so she was excited to see him. That's why he's sleeping on the futon, but I don't think he cares. He must be used to it.

"Hey," Mason smiled, knocking on the now open door."Nice room," he complimented, sitting on the chair in the corner of the room.

"Thanks, my grandmother decorated it and repainted it too," I explained, unpacking clothes into my dresser.

"Listen, are we good?" He straight up asked, but you could tell he was stressed out.

"What do you mean?" I asked obviously wanting him to ask the most basic question.

"Did Cece come between our friendship? Because that is not what I wanted," he explained.

"You tell me the answer to that; if you like Cece, not like your friendship liking, but like like her?" I asked, not looking him in the eye.

"She makes me happy," Mason said quietly.

"Then I'm happy you found someone as great as her," I shrugged.

"What's going on between you and Jake?" He asked.

"We are just friends."

"Oh please Isabella," he rolled his eyes.

"I swear we are just friends," I swore.

"Alright, alright, one more question."he insisted.

"Would it be okay if Cece came swimming with us today?" He asked.

"Um, today?" I asked, hesitating.

"Aren't we going swimming today?" He scrunched his brows together in confusion.

"Well I'm not, I don't like to get my hair wet I will probably just sit on the sa-" I got interrupted.

"So can I invite her?"

"I guess," I replied, even though I wanted to scream no in his face.

"Okay great, thanks your the best," he smiled and exited the room.

"Sure," I whispered to myself.

I decided to ask Jake and Caden if they wanted to join me at the beach. Well, Cece, Mason, and I at the beach. If they want to be all lovey and dovey, I don't want to by myself on the sand. It's just weird and I'm not going to tell Mason that I can't go since he seemed excited.

My only other option is hope that Jake and Caden can keep me company. I changed into my bathing suit and wrapped a towel around myself. Not really wanting to walk the halls in a bikini, thank you very much.

"Hey Jake, you in there?" I asked, knocking on the bathroom door, but instead having Mason open it.

"Whatcha need?"

"I wanted to ask Jake if he'd join us to the beach," I explained, trying to look past Mason.

"Why?"

"Because five is better that three," I shrugged.

"Five?"

"Caden, Jake plus us three," I replied.

"Fun," he smiled, obviously not wanting them to come along.

"Hey love, what's up?" Jake asked, smiling.

"Love?" Mason asked.

"I say that all the time, didn't you know that?" Jake laughed, looking at me.

"Would you like to come to the beach with Mason, his friend and me?" I asked, smiling, standing on my tip toes.

"I don't know," he teased.

" See, he doesn't want to go," Mason interrupted, pushing Jake to the side.

"He was being sarcastic," I rolled my eyes.

"You are so gullible," Jake stated towards Mason.

"I'd love to let me just get changed love," he added.

"Alright I'll be downstairs," I smiled, glancing towards Mason.

"You might want to get changed or Jake and I will be at the beach by ourselves," I winked, teasing Mason.

"I honestly need to teach you how to wink," he groaned, slamming the door in my face as I started laughing.

It's nice to talk to Mason again. It might not be what I desired the conversation to turn out, but it was nice to laugh along with him.Teasing him with Jake is the best thing ever. He is so jealous of him which makes it even funnier.

I walked downstairs and sat on the sofa in the living room entrance. This beach house is beyond humongous; it can possibly fit my room in it about six or seven times. If I played hide n' seek in here, I'd be thirty when someone finally found me.

I'm guessing you get the point that it is big, so I'm just gonna shut up about it. After around fifteen minutes Mason, Caden and Jake came downstairs.

"Jeez, I thought I took long," I teased as I smelled cologne.

"Who in the right mind has cologne on? We are going to a beach," I laughed.

"Actually, it's me. Gotta impress Cece," he winked and nudged my shoulder as he walked by making me roll my eyes.

"You're going to be in the water!" I screamed as he exited the beach house.

"Not the whole time, love," he mocked.

"He gets me so frustrated," I laughed.

"Sure I hope you know what you are doing," Caden whispered in my ear as he walked past.

"Well, what are you waiting for let's go!" Jake insisted as he grabbed the bag next to me and ran out the door.

"I sure hope I know what I'm doing," I said to myself before following Jake to the beach.

As I approached the sandy surface, Cece came into view. She practically looked like a model. She has the body, hair and face structure of one.

It's impossible to compete with her and I'm not going to be obsessing over her and Mason's relationship. It's just pointless and unnecessary.

I laid my towel on the surface and placed my big umbrella over it. Jake placed his towel next to mine and the cooler in between us just in case we get dehydrated.

I have the perfect view of the ocean and everyone who's playing and swimming in it. Caden already joined Cece and Mason in the water and they looked like they are having a blast. They are splashing water at each other, dunking themselves under the water and having swimming contests.

Jake tried to start a conversation, but I was too distracted on Mason and Cece. I know I said I wouldn't obsess over them, but it's hard seeing your best friend not notice you. Manning up, I put my hair in a messy bun and grabbed Jake by the arm.

"Let's go swimming," I insisted.

"I thought you hate when your hair gets wet," Jake looked at me with a confused look.

"The sacrifices you make when you need memories. Beside, I'll just wash it and straighten it when I get back to the beach house," I explained, dipping my feet in the crystal clear water.

"As you wish," he shrugged and put me on his back.

"Honestly, you have a thing for picking girls up," I teased.

"Glad you noticed," he replied laughing. When we finally arrived to the other, Caden looked at me like I was crazy.

"You got her in the water?" Caden laughed.

"I chose to come by my own will," I replied, rolling my eyes.

"I also kind of forced her when I picked her up," Jake smirked.

"You guys make an adorable couple," Cece stated, making me blush, but before anyone could reply to that Mason interrupted.

" Them? A couple? That's gold," he laughed, but I could see right through him and he should've just written "jealous" on his forehead.

"We are friends, best friends," Jake smiled, wrapping his arms around my torso.

"I'm the better friend though," Mason winked and laughed, making Cece laugh too.

"Anyways what do you guys wanna do?"Caden asked, obviously trying to escape this situation.

"Let's play truth or dare," Cece suggested.

"I'm in," Jake agreed and Mason nodded.

Personally, I hate truth or dare. Every time I play this game, it ends up bad for me. It's either me confessing something, I didn't want to confess or I do something I didn't want to do.

Last time I played, I had to run through my street with only underwear and a bra on. It was humiliating. I decided to stick to truth with this game. Something tells me that I will not like how this will end at all.

"Alright, Caden you go first," Cece instructed.

"Truth or dare Jake?" He stated.

"Dare."

"I dare you to go up to a little kid and tell them that they are adopted," he laughed.

"You're kidding right?"

"You gotta commit bro," Mason shrugged.

Jake went up to a little kid, she was around 7 and told her she was adopted. Long story short, the little kid went crying to her mum, which made everyone laugh even harder. Jake then got shouted at by the mum and they ended up leaving. The game continued for a bit until Cece asked my truth or dare.

"Truth," I replied.

"Is it true that you ever liked one of your guy friends?"

See this is what I mean about my point of view.

"It's true," I smiled, not daring to look at Mason or Jake. They are practically two of my closest guy friends along with Mike.

"Ohh," she laughed and received a truth or dare from Jake.

"Dare."

"I dare you to kiss Mason," he explained, raiding his eyebrow.

"Oh, that's an easy one," she smirked and next thing I know. Bam! Their lips are connected. Life sucks.

During all this, remember the deja vu moment I talked about before? It came back to me when Cece and Mason kissed.

It was a moment I could never forget. When my mother and father received a divorce. My mother was the mother ducking and the duckling were Caden and I.

You see, friends come and go. You're lucky if you keep one friend your whole life. Sure, they make your life fantastic for a bit, but once you go separate ways, friendships fall apart.

I'm not saying you can't have fun with your friends. Jasmine and I are friends since freshman year. You will always have that one friend you keep, but others, well you will just keep the memories.

I might be wrong and you could keep all your friends, but I used to talk to so many people and now we just got separated. But family, family is forever. You can't get rid of them and you can't run away from them either. They are always there for you and support your decisions.

My family might not be perfect, my friends might not be forever, but the present is what matters. So those ducklings following their mother were more important to her than anything else.

And that's what family is about. Friend come and go but family. They are stuck with you.
