Dan's P.O.V.

We followed Jay out of the room while she was being wheeled on her bed, although she did try and argue that she was fine and could walk, but the nurses didn't have any of it. They refused to let her up from the bed until they knew she was fine, and that wouldn't happen until after the scan.

Phil was a few steps in front of me, right beside the bed and talking to Jay, who was sitting up unsupported in the bed, her head following everyone who walked past. I could still see the massive bruise on her forehead, which was very much purple and blue and still very swollen, although not as much as the night before.

The CAT scan room looked very intimidating, with a huge machine in the middle and computers all around the sides. There was the doctor from before in the middle of the room and when he saw Jay he smiled, trying to ease the nervousness coming from everyone.

"It's okay, I know it looks scary but it'll just scan you. You've been in it before too." She nodded, but I could sense her unease about the massive machine.

"Okay sweetheart, we're just going to transfer you onto the table and then scan you quickly, you're just going to need to stay very, very still for the machine to work properly." Jay nodded.

"I'm not going to touch you, but we need a way to get you onto the table. There's no way in hell, sorry for the unprofessionalism, we're letting you walk, so Dan or Phil, would you mind lifting her?" I nodded and moved forwards, checking she was okay first before I lifted her into the air.

She was heavier than she normally would have been because of the bulky cast on her leg, but she didn't say anything, just clung to the front of my shirt as I moved her around to the table, as the doctor had called it. I tried to lay her down, but because she couldn't move her leg, which had the plaster running all the way up to mid-thigh, so Phil rushed forwards to pull it straight.

Once she was lying down the doctor moved forwards again, to a control panel on the side of the machine and pressed a few buttons. The machine whirred to life, lights started to glow and a buzzing noise emitted from it, none of which helped calm Jay.

I could see her go pale as the table started to move, sliding into the open mouth of the machine and before I could even say anything, Phil rushed forwards and grabbed her hand, the doctor stopping the table from moving.

"Hey, it's okay Jay, it's okay." He was whispering to her, squeezing her hand tightly.

"I don't like it.... It's scary..." I could hear her whispering back to Phil, but I could see more than fear in her eyes. I could see uncertainty, nervousness and I think, above all, I could see how overwhelmed she was feeling. The doctor pulled me aside and out of the room, away from Jay and Phil.

"I think we should put her under general anaesthesia again, I really don't want to overwhelm her, it could have negative effects on her. We need to get her scanned, it's very important."

"I- I don't know. If you think it's best, but I really don't know."

"It might take a little longer, but if she doesn't calm down it might be our only option."

He took me back into the machine room, but this time something was different. Phil was smiling, he was leaning over Jay and his hand was resting over her stomach, moving up and down and tickling her. I could hear her giggling, her hands were trying to catch Phil's and the nurse, a different one, was standing beside them, also with a smile on her face.

I carefully walked up behind Phil and saw Jay, a smile on her face. She shrieked again as Phil's hand landed on her stomach, digging into her ribs. Phil looked up at me and, moving away from Jay, hugged me tight and whispered in my ear,

"She's going to do it, she just needed some convincing." I smiled, hugging him back and wrapping my arms around his waist.

"You okay Jay?" That was the doctor and as I glanced around, she nodded. She looked up at us for reassurance and I smiled, squeezing her hand.

"It'll be okay, you'll be okay." For the second time the machine started moving and Jay was sent into a tube, until her head was almost out of sight unless we crouched down.

"Okay Jay, I'll need you to stay very still for about a minute so the machine can do its work, starting.... now." I saw her body tense and so did the doctor, but then he spoke again.

"No, no, no, just relax Jay." Her entire body seemed to deflate and I heard her let out a deep breath, still lying still.

We talked to her the whole time, just talking about anything we could think of, about YouTube, about Louise, about Cat, about Chris and PJ, who she had never met, about our family, about the fans. It seemed like forever, but in reality it was just three minutes because Jay moved a few times.

When the table was moved back out Jay was relatively calm, her arms automatically reaching out for the two of us. Before we did anything else I picked her up and placed her back on the other bed, Phil moving her leg out from underneath her.

A nurse pushed the bed back to the ward and we followed again, mostly in silence, waiting for Kate and Ash to attack her with questions. The doctor had said he would come to the ward when the scan results came through, and he would tell us the news.

I don't think either of us were particularly worried about the results, Jay seemed completely fine and quite happy to talk. As we expected, Kate and Ash did bombard her with questions, wanting to know why we took so long. Apparently both of them had had CAT scans before, and knew it didn't take half an hour to have a scan.

"It's okay, I just got a little bit freaked out, those things are scary as hell." Kate laughed.

"I thought it looked like a tube or pipe, but like, too small to fit in." Ash nodded.

"I thought so too, have you got your results?"

"No, the doctor 'ill come back and tell us soon."

"Fun, I guess we'll be here though."

"Yeah, I suppose."

--------------------------------------------

It took about half an hour but after that time the doctor came back, clutching onto some sheets of paper. He was smiling, and behind came a nurse, the same one who had been in the CAT scan room, holding a pair of crutches.

"Good news guys, there's nothing!" Kate and Ash both cheered and I let out a sigh of relief, Phil leaning against me heavily. I could hear him silently cheering, although he never said anything.

"Thank god, thank god for that." I was whispering underneath my breath and I think only Phil heard me, he had pulled me into a hug and refused to let me go, holding me tight.

"We can officially release you now but we just need to test that you can walk safely without falling over, then you can go home."

Jay looked a little worried but she didn't object, reaching out for the crutches the nurse was holding and very wobbly, she slowly stood on her one good foot. Leaning forwards on the crutches she carefully moved forwards, hobbling.

Phil stood in front of her in case she fell and it was very lucky he did, because after only two steps, she stumbled, her leg catching on one of the crutches and she tipped forwards, right into Phil's arms. He stood her on her feet again and this time she seemed to stay balanced, taking a few uneasy steps.

Phil stepped back every time she took a step forwards and soon enough she had made all the way to the other side of the room, cheered on by Kate and Ash.

"Go Jay! Woo!" She was smiling, although still trying to concentrate on walking.

"Alright Jay, everything seems to be okay so I think you can go home." There was cheer in his voice, he did seem happy for her and I certainly felt that way.

"Let's go home Jay, I think we all need sleep."
