Laney Pov

When Jamal walked out that door I didn't feel sad. I felt content. I knew the love of my life was still here with me.

"Daddy's home." He smirked. I turned to him and hugged him.

"Daddy is home." I kissed his soft lips. It felt like forever.

"Christian." Lil Jamal jumped up and hugged him. He basically pushed me away to hug Christian.

"Hello my twin." Lori smiled. Christian looked at her and had a genuine smile upon his lips. He put Jamal down and picked Lori up into a big hug. He swung her around like she was a rag doll.

"Mom and dad is going to be pissed." She said once he put her down. They both laughed. They don't even take each other serious. I know they don't take their bougie parents serious.

"I'm grown." Christian laughed.

"I'm just happy you're here." I smiled. He looked at me all over like I was a wife.

"Save that thought. I got to go make a run." I smiled.

"Where we going sis?" Lori said.

"You know." I grabbed the duffel of drugs and threw it over my shoulders.

"Bet." She walked with me towards the door.

"Where ya'll going?" His eyes went down to the duffel bag. He knew what was in it. Why he trying to stunt and play clueless?

"To Vegas." Lori said with a smirk. Her mouth is smarter than his, unfortunately.

"We just going to get our money." I shrugged. He stared at me like he didn't want me to leave his sight.

"Look, it's cool. We won't be apart again." I assured him. He just stared at me.

"I love you." He said. He made me feel uncomfortable. He made me feel like that would be the last time I hear that.

"Do you?" I asked. He stared at me with those eyes I fell in love with.

"Until I can't love anymore." He grabbed my hands causing me to drop the duffel. I didn't know what to say. I was afraid I may say the wrong thing. I didn't want to kill the mood. I simply lied my head on his chest.

"Oh come on Romeo and Juliet. Ya'll gone make my lunch come up." Lori held her stomach as if she was going to vomit. I giggled and picked the duffel up.

"Come back in one piece mommy." Lil Jamal spoke. His words touched me differently this time. I felt like I had a purpose to stay alive.

"You know me. I will never leave you hanging." I told him. He smiled and turned back to the television.

"Take care of my girl." Christian told Lori. Lori looked offended as she held her chest in shock.

"Excuse you mothafucka', but your girl is the damn tough one. Not me." We all shared a laugh.

"Lets be out." I told Lori. She opened the door. I took one last look at my family before leaving them.

We walked down and got in her car. I threw the duffel in the backseat and got in the front. She oddly watched as I buckled my seat belt.

"What Lori?" I knew she had something smart to say.

"You buckling up like I'm gone kill you. Your life is good in my hands." She giggled as she started the car. I still don't trust her driving.

"Shut up and drive." I rolled my eyes.

We drove for about five minutes when we saw a crime scene. We couldn't even see the body because there was already a white sheet over it on the sidewalk.

"I wonder who got they shit wet." I looked over at the scene and saw people standing all around it.

"whoever it was left a lot of blood on the sidewalk." Lori said. I did notice the big blood spill spilling into the sewer.

We sat at the red light for what seemed like forever. I was curious to know who it was.

"Want to get out and see?" I asked Lori. She gave me that 'bitch please' look.

"Bitch pull over where the entire Atlanta PD is with drugs in my backseat? Hush, Laney." She started to laugh. That was kind of stupid of me. I was just being nosy.

The light turned green and she zoomed off. She pulled off like the police was behind her. Then she wonder why I buckled up.

"Hey pull over at the nearest store. I got to piss. You don't have to get out." I told her.

"Okay." She rolled her eyes but she did what I said. We pulled up to a liquor store.

"Okay stay tight and I'll be out." I told her. She ignored me and looked out the window. She so petty. I got out and walked in. I was met by a Arab lady that looked like she had one too many drinks last night.

"lay off the Gin." I told her. I walked to the bathroom and noticed how nasty it was. There is no way they expect me to use this. I need some Lysol or something. I wonder if they got some at the counter.

I walked out and bumped into a shorty that looked like she wanted trouble. I looked back at her and she looked back with a smirk. I brushed shorty off and went to the register.

"Excuse me do you have swishers?" This guy was already at the register. He leaned against the register and I could see the gun in the back of his pants. I bagged away and tried going to the door.

"Where you going?" A girl asked. I turned and the shorty had a gun pointed at me.

"Don't shoot!" The lady behind the register yelled.

"Bitch shut up before I kill you!" The guy yelled as he pulled his gun out and pointed it at her.

"Do I-"

"Shut up and give me your money!" The girl demanded. They were like a young version of Jamal and I. But a far more cheap version of us. We didn't rob liquor stores. Instead, we robbed the liquor warehouse.

"Kill me." I smirked. I ain't no bitch. If I'm gone die, I might as well go out like the G I am.

"Stop fucking with me!" She yelled.

"You dumb asses are on camera." I laughed. The guy looked up at the cameras and shot them. He's not so bright. There are still videos in the back.

"By time you kill me I will be 80 years old." I smirked. The girl got irritated and screamed out.

BOOM

I looked at her and she looked at me. I couldn't tell who was shot because it all felt unreal. That was until I looked down at my t shirt.

"Laney!" I could hear Lori scream. The girl took a last look at me before she ran through the back with her lover. I slowly got down on my knees and took my shirt off. Luckily I had my sports bra on.

"Call 9-1-1!" Lori screamed. I just sat on my knees looking down at the hole going through my stomach.

"Stand up. You're okay." Lori cried. Everything was going so fast.

I thought about my mom and sister. They are going to be devastated.

"Make sure my family good." I told Lori.

"You gone do that yourself. Stop talking like that." She was crying like a little baby.

"It hurts, Lori." A single tear fell from my eye as I tried laying on the floor but Lori wouldn't let me.

"I know." She cried.

"Please forgive me!" I cried out.

"I'm not mad at you." Lori cried. I let her believe I was referring to her. I was asking God for his forgiveness.

"My brother is going to kill me!" Lori began to panic. I was more calm than her. I felt myself getting dizzy.

"Let me lay down and sleep." I begged her. She pulled me into her lap causing my blood to spill on her. She hugged me and rocked me.

I looked over her shoulders and saw him. I was afraid I might not see him again. He wore a smile on his face with his hand extended.

"Come on." He said. His voice seemed soft and pleasant. I tried getting up but Lori held me tighter.

"Tell Christian I will always love him, Lori. But right now I have to go." She pulled me away and looked at me. I looked at her sweet face until that was the last thing I saw.

Not everything in my life was perfect. I mean honestly, none of it was. But one thing was good enough for me. That was the people that were in my life. Christian, Jamal, Lori, and even lil Jamal. I even caught up with my sister.

I'm not mad at the life I was given. I honestly appreciate it. I appreciate the love and the criminal activity. It all taught me a lesson.

DON'T DO DUMB SHIT!

That's what it taught me!

Christian will see me again. He will see me every time I haunt his scary butt in his dreams. Now let me go and whisper in his ear and make sure they don't have me looking like a mother in the church for my funeral.

Peace out ya'll
