"Liam, focus!" The director's voice snapped Liam from his thoughts. Shaking his head, Liam turned to face the mirrored wall. Gazing at his reflection, he focused his core energy on this, but found the task rather difficult. Concentrating once more, he tried again...but nothing happened. Glancing at his director with shame, he lowered his hands.

"Why have you stopped, Liam?" His director's low voice made Liam feel small.

"I don't feel it today, Master," the young Drawolf lowered his gaze sadly. I haven't felt it all week, he thought to himself. The director rubbed his temples in exasperation,

"Very well, take a break. Come back in about an hour. And Liam," he turned to the retreating boy, "Don't be late." Liam nodded and dashed out of the small room and down the open hallway. As he made his way to the lunch area, his thoughts began to wander. Why couldn't he use his core energy today? Why did his mother look so excited when she heard about the telekinesis last week? Why had she looked so sad? What had his parents talked about? What was for lunch? What was Judy...doing? He stopped his racing thoughts as he caught a glimpse of Judy's strawberry red colored hair. He sort of froze on the spot. Gazing at her, he noticed her eyes were a light blue, matching the scarf she was wearing around her neck. Her hair fell perfectly straight down to her shoulders and she looked small compared to her already evolved friends. Perfectly pink, feathered wings were folded against her back and beautifully matched her lavender uniform. Liam snapped out of his trance-like state as he felt a shove from behind,

"What you looking at?" A tall boy with wild orange hair put his arm around Liam's shoulders.

"N-n-nothing!" Liam dropped his gaze to his feet instantly. Why did he always feel like this when he looked at Judy? What was this...feeling? The orange haired boy fluttered his large yellow bat-like wings and squinted across the room. His eyes caught the group of girls that was gathered around Judy.

"Oh, you want to evolve fast and get hooked don't you?" Liam blushed hard, pushing the boy away.

"No I was...I was admiring the...the um..." Liam mentally smacked himself for this.

"The girls...?" The orange haired boy was smiling down at Liam.

"N-no! The wall! I like the wall, Jacob." Liam pointed to the wall behind the table where the girls were seated. Jacob blinked in confusion,

"Man, you are one strange kid." He finally smiled and ruffled Liam's blonde mop of hair. Liam cursed himself for his short stature. Jacob was right about one thing...Liam thought as he watched one of his only friends walk out of the room, having girls fawn over him as he walked past...I do want to evolve. Now.

"Liam? LIAM!" Liam turned in surprise to find a small purple animal flying toward him and calling his name.

"Yes?" Liam looked up at it as it descended slowly until it touched the forest floor. It looked up sweetly at him before taking on human form. Liam drew in a sharp breath and let it out slowly. Don't mess this up, he told himself firmly. Judy tucked her hair behind her ear.

"You are Liam, right? I saw you looking at me at lunch." Judy stepped closer to him. Liam felt his eyes widen as he thought of an excuse,

"Uh, no I was...admiring the...wall?" He bit his lip, frustrated with himself. What was this feeling? Why was he stuttering? Judy laughed lightly, making Liam's heart flutter.

"Oh really? I thought you were trying to get my attention, but when I came looking for you...you were gone." She concluded thoughtfully. Sitting down next to him, she smiled and crossed her legs gracefully, "Would you mind me asking a question?" Liam froze but managed to spit out,

"N-no, not at all." Judy closed her eyes thoughtfully, as if trying to think of what to say or how to word it.

"Do you find it hard to center your core energy or control your semblance some days?" She finally asked after what seemed like an eternity. Liam blinked, this is exactly how I feel!, he thought excitedly. Hiding his excitement he nodded coolly,

"Yeah, why?" Judy's eyes brightened instantly. Then she flung herself at Liam it a tight hug,

"Ooh! I knew I wasn't the only one!" Liam blinked feeling his cheeks grow intensely warm. As if realizing what she had done, Judy gasped and jumped back, arms drawn in close to her body.

"OH MY STARS!! I am so sorry! You don't even know me and I just...I can't believe...I am sorry! Sometimes I don't think and, and..." Judy looked close to tears. Liam was still in minor shock as she apologized, but instantly came to as he saw tears form in the female Drawolf's eyes. Panicking, Liam jumped up as Judy sniffled,

"No, no, no! Don't cry, please! It's fine honestly. Don't cry..." Liam bit his lip again, he was so terrible at comforting people. Judy flicked her thin, smooth tail sadly,

"No it's not, I do this to a lot of people. It's a habit when I get excited...I can't help it, really." Her voice was cracking because of the tears, breaking Liam's heart. He felt responsible for her tears some how.

"Please don't cry..." Liam touched her shoulder, still unsure what to do. Judy looked at him with large, teary eyes,

"You...you don't mind?" She blinked, but then smiled widely, "You're so different from everyone else, Liam! I like you already, and I think we will be best friends!" She stood and wiped her eyes before taking on animal form. She took to the air and Liam followed.

"Why don't you become a wolf? It's easier to fly that way, silly." Judy smiled happily. Liam looked away,

"I can't." was all he replied.
