The Grey Reality

Tear stains

"Mrs Shepherd!" A nurse shouted from the end of the waiting room. We decided to go to the hospital across time so we weren't running into our friends.
"Really Mrs Shepherd Derek?" I laughed as we stood up and taking his hand
"I know but i thought it was cute!" He laughed along with me as we headed to the door
"So what's up doc?" Derek said placing his hand on my knee
"Well after looking at your scans we saw a little blob on the screen" the doctor said as he pointed to the screen
"Right?" I said forgetting all medical knowledge I had due to shock
"Meredith you have a brain tumour located in the frontal lobe...we can operate but it will be hard. This is why you are having these outer-body experiences but we might need to book you into a shrink for one session just to get to know why it's in that particular scenario" he rambled on as Derek's grip got harder. He talked for another 15 mins before we agreed to do the surgery and leaving.
We got back to the car and Derek stood there staring at what was in front of us until he turned on the car and drove to Seattle Grace.
We stopped in his parking space and as I was about to jump out the car he finally spoke up after an hour of silence.
"Promise me" he said softly and slightly croaky
"Promise me what Derek?" I asked closing the car door
"Promise you won't leave me" he said as I watched a tear roll down his face
"I promise, Derek we are supposed to live the rest of our lives together and that will be for many, many, many years to come and this won't spoil that. You are my rock and my someone to lean on in my time of need and that time is now. You always said Cristina was my person but what you never understood is that you are you've always been even when you weren't here" I said holding his shoulder
"Meredith I just don't want to lose you!" He said as his tears doubled
"You won't I promise now come here you beautiful man you!" I smiled at him before pulling him in for a long hug.
After our hug we jumped out the car and met at the front.
"You ok?" I asked placing a hand on his chest
"I won't be ok until you are" he replied standing there looking into my eyes
"I'll be ok as long as your there"
"Oh Mer I've just noticed I've got tears all over your shirt"
"YOU'VE WHAT!!??" I shouted before laughing and pulling him in for another hug.
"Love you Shep!" I said from his shoulder
"Love you too Grey!" He replied before kissing me. We joined hands and walked into the hospital...
