The Grey Reality

The morning after the night before!

"Emma's what?"
"Emma's dead someone pushed her in the airport she fell and hit her head they took her to the hospital across town and she was pronounced dead about an hour ago" Lori said as I stood for a second before walking into the conference room
"Mer Emma she's d-e-a-d I think we might need to take Charlie under our care"
"Derek we can't I'm pregnant we'll have no room"......
(Meredith's POV)
"LORI YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW IM NOT DONE YOU JUST CANT WALK OUT OF HERE!" I heard softly in the distance I slowly saw the bright light of my bedroom as I opened my eyes. I got up stumbling to get a blanket from the chair my head pounding like it would explode in my skull. I made my way to the living room and saw Peter standing at the counter.
"Sorry Mer did we wake you?" He asked as I slowly waddled to the counter
"Nope...Peter what day is it?" I asked sitting down rubbing my temples
"It is Sunday the day after the party you really did have too much to drink last night" he laughed as I stood up
"It was all a dream thank god but why was I Derek!" I thought to myself and giggled slightly "where's Derek?" I asked
"He had to go to the hospital, I can give you a ride if you want"
"Yea please I'll be 2 mins" I said as I walked to get changed.
When we got to the hospital it was the quietest I've ever seen it.
"Meredith I'm surprised you're not still lying in bed" Alex said laughing from behind the nurses station
"Alex where is everyone?" I asked leaning over the table
"There was a huge accident but all the patients went to the two hospitals nearest we're just the back up"
"How are you even functioning?" I laughed sitting next to him
"Coffee" he replied
We continued to talk for what seemed like hours but it had only been about 10 minutes.
"Mer what are you doing here?" Derek asked walking through the ER
"To be honest I have no clue...what's happening with Peter and Lori?" I asked stretching my arms
"Peter proposed last night and Lori said no they've been up arguing all night" he said as he started to walk round to us.
"I'm gonna go get coffee want some?" Alex asked as we both nodded
"How you feeling?" Derek asked
"Yea I'm good" I replied before he kissed my head "you Derek there are some things you do that make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world" I smiled
"It's because you are, well to me anyway" he smiled "cmon you need some sleep" he said as he walked me over to the waiting area seats where we both sat down
"Love you Derek"
"Love you to Mer" he said before taking off his white coat and placing it on his lap for me to place my head on. As I was falling asleep I felt him rub my head. What did I do to deserve him?
