The fire before us glowed brilliantly. It transfixed me. I was like a moth to a flame. I was filled with tears that just wouldn't fall. You never quite get over some people's deaths. Dean was one to remember for eternities. I mean, he saved the world from apocalypse, he killed Hitler... What didn't he do?
Sam tossed me a beer as we watched the fire's glow intensify as it spread across the body. The threats were now becoming actions as tears began to stream down my cheeks. I was surprised Sam wasn't sobbing like I was, but then again, he had been crying for days.
He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around me, comforting me. I cried into his shoulder and he patted my hair. We stood like this until the fire died down a bit. Once it was completely out, we took the impala back to the bunker. The drive was silent but meaningful. Cas hadn't showed up yet, but he knew. He was going through a rough patch.
We arrived at the bunker and crashed on the couch, me on top of Sam. We weren't in a romantic relationship, but I wished we were. I had crushed on the younger Winchester forever, but I knew that now was a time when I needed to comfort him, not hit on him. Sam had his arms wrapped around my waist and my arms were around his neck. We slept like this all night.
When I woke up, Sam was already gone. I was lying by myself on the couch, and there was a note on the coffee table.
Went for a jog, be back soon.
I decided I'd get up and make coffee. But when I got to the kitchen, it was already made, a mug set out for me, as well as one in the sink (definitely Sam's). He was so sweet.
I fixed my coffee like I liked it and sat back down on the couch. The silence of the bunker was nice. I had time to think about recent events. God, I hate witches. They're the reason Dean isn't here for Sam. They're the reason Dean isn't here at all. That's when the bunker door opened.
"Hey, sleepyhead. You're up early for you. It's 9:30," he laughed.
"I don't know, I was just so moved by the fact that you made coffee, I had to wake up. I couldn't let this kind gesture go cold," I smiled. He looked so hot in his sweaty tank top and shorts.
"You okay, (Y/N)?" He cocked his head to the side like a confused puppy dog. Oh no I must have been staring.
"Yeah. Just thinking about things."
"I try to avoid thinking about things," he smiles genuinely. "Those thoughts lead me down a dangerous path."
"I feel you."
He sits next to me on the couch, a little too close for a friendly distance. I was nervous. I was only in a tank top and pajama shorts. He puts his hand on my bare leg and gives me a goofy grin.
"(Y/N), can I kiss you?"
I blink a few times, surprised by his proximity. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. I nodded and he leaned forward.
His mouth met mine gently, his arms finding their way around me. He was pushing me backward onto the couch. He laid me down and hovered over me. We both pulled away breathless. His eyes showed nothing but lust, probably matching mine. He leaned in again, soon meeting my level of intensity in the kiss. His hands felt their way everywhere on my body. I moaned into his mouth and started feeling up and down his chest. He was so muscular from years of hunting and running for his life. Risk takers were kind of my thing.
"Sam, (Y/N), I have news–"
Cas stopped, wide-eyed. He looked between us confused. We sprung apart, embarrassed we had been caught like this in a time we should be grieving. Cas had been.
"What the hell is this? Do you not care about your brother, Sam? (Y/N) I thought you– never mind. Forget it."
"Cas, no," Sam stopped him. "What's going on?"
"I think I have a way to get Dean back. For good."
