Catherine and Jim

It was pitch dark out and even the streetlights were out. This just made my plan easier. I was sitting in front of Jim and Catherine’s house, which was at least a mile from their nearest neighbor. I guess they wanted privacy and isolation from people, which was fine by mean. That just mean I wouldn’t have to be as careful when fulfilling my plan. No one would be able to hear their screams and cries, since it was almost midnight and they didn’t live near anyone.

I got out of my car and shut the door quietly, not wanting to alert them that I was there. My disguise was off now and they would surely recognize me. I tiptoed my way to their front door and kneeled down to pick the lock. I could pick almost any lock, learning to from the internet and from the police academy. Within seconds, I picked the lock and was inside the darkened house. They had to be home, probably sleeping since it was late at night.

The home was a simple place, nothing too fancy, but nothing trashy. I could hear the snores of Jim coming from upstairs. This was going to be fun. I slowly crept my way up the stairs and knew I needed to tie Jim down because he was ex military and would be a struggle if I didn’t take him down before I started my plan. I wore a backpack with everything I needed inside. I pulled out my gun, just in case either of them woke up.

I pulled out a set of handcuffs and silently walked into the darken bedroom when the couple was sleeping. I attached on handcuff to the bed frame and the other to the wrist of Jim. When I did that, his eyes opened and he sat up. He yanked on the handcuff and said, “What the hell!” I backed away just as Catherine woke up.

“What’s wrong, Jim?” She asked, groggily.

“I’ll tell you what’s wrong.” I said, turning on the lights, blinding them.

“What’s wrong is that you two are cowards and are selfish bastards.” I snarled.

Both of their eyes widened as they saw who I was. Catherine let out a scream and was about to get up before I said, “I suggest you stay down and there is no need to scream, not yet at least.” I said, showing her my gun.

Catherine stayed down on the bed, which was smart of her. Jim yanked on the handcuff and I rolled my eyes at his stupidity, he wasn’t getting out and if he did, I would shoot him. Then the unexpected happened.

“Is anyone there?” A young child’s voice asked.

“Who the hell is it?” I whispered as I headed for the hallway.

“It’s our neighbors, daughter. They went out of town so we were watching her.” Jim replied, a worried expression on his face.

“When she comes in here, tell her to listen to me and that I’m a friend and if you don’t I won’t hesitate to kill her.” I snarled as I turned to see a little girl about four walk into the bedroom.

“Jimmy? Who is this?” She asked, hiding behind the door.

“He’s a friend of ours, so you can listen to him.” Jim replied calmly.

“Hey, can you go down stairs for a minute, we were just having a conversation. I’ll be down in a minute to show you something cool.” I said, trying to keep the girl calm and not scared of me.

“Okay!” She cheered as she walked down the stairs.

I turned back to them and frowned at how messed up this plan had gone. I had planned on torturing them for hours upon hours, but that has changed. Now I have to go with a new plan that I created. I walked over to Catherine and she whimpered. I handcuffed her to the bedpost and said, “If you guys try anything I will kill that girl and I’m sure you don’t want that.”

They nodded, understanding that I was dead serious. Since Kelly, I didn’t want to girl children. The girl did nothing wrong, just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I walked down the stairs to see the girl sitting on the couch playing with a stuffed bunny. Her brown hair was braided and her bright green eyes stood out in the darkness. I knelt down in front of her and said, “Hey, what’s you’re name?”

            “Emma.” She grinned largely.

“Well Emma, I need you to do me a favor and go wait in my car while Jimmy, Catherine and I finish talking. Can you do that? Then after that, I’ll go get you ice cream.” I smiled, despite how angry I was feeling for this girl screwing up everything.

“Yes! I want ice cweem!” She shouted.

“Okay, then it shouldn’t be long, let’s go sit in my car and you can play with your bunny until then, right?” I asked, as I stood up and walked with her to the door.

She nodded and unexpectedly, she grabbed my hand in her and swung it back and forth. I stared at the hands, feeling weird that she would touch me. Then again, she didn’t know I was a killer. I let her hold my hand and I couldn’t help but feel a little but of warmth inside me. That all changed when I got her in the car and headed back to the house, ready to kill. Who was I kidding, no one would ever love me and I was just a ruthless killer.

I stomped up the stairs and knew I couldn’t be as long as I wanted. Once inside the room, their eyes widened at me and I rolled my eyes at their worried looks. I reached into my backpack and pulled out a roll of duct tape.

            “Is she okay?” Catherine asked.

“Oh yes, just wonderful, sadly you didn’t worry about Kelly that way.” I snapped and her eyes began to water.

“You didn’t even bother to go to her funeral, pathetic.” I snapped.

            “Funeral?” Jim asked.

“Wow, you didn’t even hear about it, what nice people you are. What, did you change all your contacts so that Robbins or Kelly couldn’t call you? Despicable.” I snarled as I pulled out several pictures. They were all of Kelly’s dead body.

“You two were never good guardians to her and after everything that happened, you abandoned her. Now, look at her. She’s dead.” I yelled, as I threw more pictures onto the bed for them to see.

“How did she die?” Catherine chocked, tears running down her cheeks.

“Kayden killed her, but she died knowing you two didn’t give a shit about her.” I snapped as I ripped two pieces of duct tape off and placed them onto Jim’s and Catherine’s mouths, not wanting to hear their voices again. I was going to let them scream as loud as they could but then the girl would hear in the car and then I would have to kill her.

I threw the pictures of Kelly back into my bag and pulled out a sharp knife out of my bag. My lips formed into a scowl as I stared at the couple. They disgusted me in every way possible. They cared for a neighbor’s kid more than their own flesh and blood. I walked over to Jim, wanting to hurt him first and make his wife suffer by his pain.

I didn’t even hesitate, before shoving the knife into Jim’s stomach. The scent of blood filled the air as it gushed from his stomach. A sinister smirk appeared on my lips as his screams were muffled by the duct tape. I took the knife and started to make small cuts along his arms and legs, blood covering the used to be white sheets. Catherine had tears streaming down her cheeks and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of happiness that they were paying for everything they did to hurt Kelly. Karma was a bitch.

Once I was done cutting up Jim, I moved my way over to Catherine. She tried to kick me which resulted in my stabbing her foot. She screamed but thankfully, the duct tape prevented my ears from having serious damage. I repeated the same actions to Catherine. Both of them were covered in tears but mostly in blood.

“See if you hadn’t left Kelly, this wouldn’t be happening.” I sneered.

Catherine started to mumble and I knew she was trying to talk. I ripped off the tape, curious to what she wanted to say. She calmed herself down; despite the pain I had caused her.

“P-please, w-we are sorry. We did love Kelly.” She stuttered.

This sent me over the edge. I stormed over to her and slid my knife across her throat, a pool of blood flowing from her throat. Jim screamed and tears exploded from his eyes. I rolled at my eyes at his weakness but then realized just a few weeks ago, I was just like him. I pushed that thought away and punched Jim across the face, letting my anger out.

“You don’t understand how much I’m enjoying this. Trust me, it would have been so much worse if it wasn’t for that girl in my car.” I spat, ripping off his duct tape.

Knowing I needed to end this jammed my knife into his heart. He gasped as blood trickled from his mouth. I was going to let his bleed out and suffer the long way. There was no saving him and I hope that he thought about Kelly as he was dying.

            “Kyle, please.” He chocked.

I ignored him, and walked out of the bedroom. I wiped off the blood from my face and arms before heading outside. My hands were clenched into fists and I hoped he was suffering as much as possible for what he did. What cowards.

When I reached the car, I noticed that the little girl was holding a piece of paper in her hand. I opened the backseat door and stared at her. Her eyes met with mine and she smiled largely as she handed me the piece of paper.

“What do you have there?” I asked.

“A man came by and said to give you this when you were done with business. What did he mean?” She asked a confused look on her face.

“Uh, he meant when I was done talking with Catherine and Jim. Did the man say his name?” I asked, wondering who would have followed me and given the girl the note.

She shook her head no. Despite the curiosity, I wanted to wait to look at the paper after I dropped the girl off. I got in the front seat and drove to the nearest police station. I quickly grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down a letter to the police saying, “Call Officer Robbins in Tampa, Florida if you want to know who the killer of Jim and Catherine Hunter is. She will know who I am. Also, find this girl’s parents for her because Jim and Catherine were watching her.”

I handed the piece of paper to the girl and said, “Go find a police officer inside and hand him his letter. I have to go so I can’t take you to ice cream but someone inside will take you.” I smiled.

“Okay, bye Kyle!” She exclaimed as she got out of the car and ran inside the police station.

I quickly drove away, back to the hotel I was staying in, which wasn’t the best place in the world. There weren’t many people checked in which was good and the place messed like rotting eggs, but it was best to not be noticed. Once inside my hotel room, I took out the piece of paper. It was folded up and the front said, “To Kyle.”

I opened it and noticed that it was a letter. My eyes widened as I scanned it. My eyes began to water and I never thought this was possible. This was impossible. There was no way this was happening. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I read the letter. There had to be another explanation for this. This was impossible.

Here's another chapter, I don't have school today so I got to write!!! What do you think the letter is and who it's from? This chapter's dedication goes to @noelletbh. Thanks for commenting and reading!!! I'll try and update as soon as I can. :)
