William's POV- January 2016
I frowned as the piece of sushi I was about to eat fell on my lap because Kappy nudged me.
"What was that for?" I asked.
"I figured you'd want to breath since you've been scarfing down food since we got here"
"I'm starving" I defended.
"Try chewing, that way you actually taste the food"
I ate the piece of sushi that fell on my lap and reached for my drink. It was 80's Karaoke night, so there weren't as many people young people around. I was thankful for that, I enjoyed eating without being interrupted.
"So how are things with you and Mariana?"
"Why are you asking me this?" I asked.
"Because she's incredibly attractive"
He had a point there, Mariana was nice on the eyes and her personality made her even more attractive.
"She's here for the semester though" I said.
"You're just making up excuses"
He was right, I had my heart broken a day after I was drafted. I still wasn't really fully over it.
"I get it, you had your heart broken but don't you think it's time to move on?"
He had a point; it had been over 2 years since then.
"Speak of the devil"
I followed his gaze to see Mariana taking a sip of what looked to be a margarita. She was not alone, there was another girl eating sushi across from her.
"This is fate"
"No it's not" I told him.
"You're just in denial"
He waved the waiter over and asked what Mariana was drinking.
"Put it on my tab"
The waiter nodded and walked away.
"What are you up to?" I asked.
He smiled.
"I'm helping you"
We watched as the waiter got two margaritas from the bartender before making his way towards Mariana and her friend. He placed them on the table and spoke to them.
"Wave with me"
I watched as Mariana looked towards us as the waiter pointed us out. Kappy and I waved at them as the waiter walked away.
"Should we invite them over?"
"No" I told him.
He grinned.
"Come on man, I promise not to embarras you"
"You already did" I muttered.
"Holy shit she's making her way over"
"You're lying" I said.
He shook his head and I sat up straight when I saw her making her way over.
"Hey"
For some reason I could not speak, so I just smiled.
"Thanks for the drinks"
Kappy smiled.
"We figured you were enjoying ladies night"
She nodded and looked at me.
"How are you doing?"
"I'm doing good, it looks like I might skate tomorrow" I told her.
"That's real good"
"You said you'd make it to my game" I mentioned.
She smiled.
"That I did, and I will. I have not forgotten, don't you worry"
I nodded.
"Is it just you and your friend?"
She looked at Kappy and nodded.
"Want to sit with us?"
She turned around to look at her friend who was looking down at her phone.
"Let me ask her"
Kappy smiled and we watched as she walked away. I turned to look at Kappy and he frowned as I kicked him under the table.
"What was that for!"
I turned my attention back to Mariana who was talking with her friend. Her friend smiled and nodded as she got out of the booth.
"Her friend has a nice body too"
He hummed.
"But your blonde has a smoking body"
"Do you even think before you speak?" I asked.
He grinned.
"Not really"
"Should we help?" I asked.
"They got it"
I watched as Mariana handed the Margaritas to her friend and grabbed their purses and plates. I slid out of the booth just as they both approached the table.
"Let me help you with that" I said.
I took the plate from Mariana and a margarita from her friend.
"Are you going to introduce us to your pretty friend?"
Mariana looked at Kappy and smiled.
"Ellie, you know who they are"
Her friend smiled and nodded.
"My parents would disown me if I didn't"
I chuckled as I slid into the booth.
"I'm Ellie"
"Short for?" I asked.
"Eleanor"
I shook her hand.
"Thanks for taking me to the hospital" I told her.
She smiled.
"No worries, you're not as heavy as I thought you were"
Kappy laughed.
"You guys can take a seat"
Her friend sat next to Kappy where as Mariana sat next to me.
"Did you two just get here?"
Mariana looked at Kappy and shook her head.
"No, we got here about an hour ago"
He nodded.
"That's a lot of food"
He glared at me as I kicked him under the table.
"I was going to share with you, but you can starve"
I chuckled as Mariana looked at me.
"Do you want some?"
"Sure" I said.
"Willy never says no to food"
"I need to gain weight" I defended.
"Well how much do you weigh"
I looked at Mariana.
"I don't know pounds" I admitted.
"How much do you weigh in Kilos?"
"86" I answered.
She nodded slowly.
"So you're almost 190"
I smiled and shrugged.
"Don't make him use that brain of his, he's still concussed"
I placed two pieces of sushi on my plate.
"How are you friends with him?"
I looked at Mariana and chuckled.
"He's actually pretty nice when he's not trying to embarras me" I admitted.
She smiled and took a sip of her margarita.
"Hopefully I get cleared on Monday because I crave coffee" I said.
"I'm sure you will"
I glanced away from her as an ABBA song began playing. I couldn't help but smile when I noticed Mariana was singing along. No one was drunk enough to start off Karaoke night, so 80's music was playing. This was the 6th ABBA song in the past hour. She noticed me watching her as she was singing and I shook my head when she stopped singing.
"Why'd you stop, I was about to join you" I told her.
"Oh god, not you too"
I looked at her friend, Ellie
"I am Swedish" I stated.
"What's Mari's reason?"
"She's got great taste in music" I said.
Mariana began singing along to the song and I followed. What song was being played, it was ABBA's "If It Wasn't for the Nights"
