You return home from softball practice exhausted. It's only five o'clock but you feel that you could fall asleep any second.
Your mum comes in as your face planted on your bed. She stands in the doorway. "Do you want to start looking for something you can wear on Valentine's Day?" She asks you, making you sit up. "Mum, I'm not doing anything on Valentines Day" you simply say, sighing shortly after. Her face drops, and she comes over to sit on the bed.
"Why not honey?" She questions, pulling you into a hug. "Because I haven't got a date" You whisper, barely audible. "I'm sure someone will ask you honey, There's still three days till the actual day" Your mum says. "I don't know mum, most people already have their date" You say "But thanks for trying to make me feel better, I think I'm gonna go to bed" You sigh again, rubbing your forehead. Your mum hugs you again before leaving the room, quietly shutting the door behind her.
You flop back down on your bed and close your eyes, willing yourself to fall asleep. You seemed to doze off for a few minutes before you woke up to a thump on your door. You groaned, rubbing your eyes. You slowly got off the bed and went to check out the noise.
You opened your door revealing nothing but a empty hallway. You dropped your eyes to the floor to see a single white softball. You rolled your eyes, before picking up the ball. You threw it up in the air and caught it, suddenly noticing a message written on the ball in black permanent marker. You frowned, reading the message:
Follow the trail of softballs down the stairs, you don't have to pick them all up but pick up the one with the note next to it.
You set the ball down and walk towards the top of the staircase. You look down and see softballs sitting on every step and into the kitchen. You giggle, and race downstairs following the trail, past your mum in the kitchen and towards the living room. You spy a note next to a softball that it sitting right in front of the TV. You pick up the note and read it:
Ok, Start picking up every second ball.
You follow the instructions of the ball and lean down to pick up the second one after the one you just picked up:

You ran to the next one, You are getting closer and closer to the backyard door:

The next one says:

You run to pick the one that is right in front of the backyard door, you pick it up:

Grinning, you open the door to see Johnny standing outside, holding a bunch of red roses and a softball saying "Valentine?" You drop all the balls you were holding and hug Johnny. "Yes! I would love too!" You say. Johnny gently kisses your cheek before pulling apart and hands you the roses.
