22 - Fan Fiction, Fluffy Unicorns & Explaining 'Aint Nobody Got Time For That'
I took a deep breath in after reading yet another exciting chapter of the most recent fan fiction I had found on my reading website and rested my head on the pillow, not being able to control all the feels that the chapter had caused. Why are feels so hard to control?
“Hey, Kay bay, how are you feeling?” Louis said stepping into the room. I stared at him wide eyed. The story was about him, and I had just found out something and I did not feel comfortable with him around. We were about to have a serious conversation about it.
“Sorry to come until now, they did not let us come in earlier,” Liam explained, entering the room with Harry and making me lose my focus from the Doncaster boy who had a very dirty mind in my opinion. Harry was carrying a big fluffy unicorn and my eyes immediately diverted from him to it.
It was so cute and fluffy and…ah!
“Why were Zayn and Niall here before then?” I questioned as my eyes never left the gorgeous unicorn that was just a few feet away from me. I stared dreamily at it and I could almost hear it call my name. Oh sweet unicorn, I will be with you soon enough!
Harry noticed my awe for the stuffed mythical animal and walked over to me, with a goofy grin on his face. He knew exactly the reaction he was going to get from me.
Niall and Zayn had left to eat something –because I had forced them to- with Sophia who entered the room a few minutes after I said once again I was just fine. I was actually relieved to see her there. If not, they would probably try to ask me again and I was not going to answer a third time.
“They refused to leave the room,” Liam explained as he took a seat in the small couch on the corner, next to Louis. I nodded in understanding as I saw him getting comfortable and looked back at Harry. Well, I actually looked back at the fluffy goodness. It made me feel so much better already and I had not even grabbed it and squeezed it!
“You are so much alike to that girl from the minions’ movie, what is it called?” Liam mused as he stared into the nothing trying to recall the name of the movie.
“Despicable Me?” Harry offered.
“Yup, that one,” Liam said, popping the p and then giggling and looking as cute as a puppy. Some things never change.
Harry got next to me and handed me the fluffy beautiful unicorn and I immediately hugged it, hiding my face in it. Ah, just as great as I thought it would feel.
“I think her name is Agnes.”
“Shut up about that already, Liam, would you?” Louis grunted annoyed.
I was about to watch, quite entertained, the comeback Liam was going to give to Louis when Harry spoke to me. He was actually taking advantage of the fact that they were talking and not paying attention to us anymore. “I’m really sorry for making you faint, Kay.” He was leaning into me and I could smell the mint flavored toothpaste we used.
“It was not your fault, Harry.”
“Yes, it was. I had no idea I had spun you that long or whatever it was that got you so dizzy.” I listened to him as I rested my head on my gorgeous unicorn but slowly got into a trance with the comfortableness of my fluffy animal. “I was just messing around. I never meant to hurt you. I-I am so sorry, Kay.”
I got out of my trance and looked up to him, confused. Was he really blaming himself? Like, for real?
Because people normally say they blame themselves but it is just to make sure you are not mad at them. But I could see it in Harry’s face. He had the same face Liam had two years ago when he thought it was his fault I had got hit in the face.
I just hope Harry does not start crying.
Ugh, how could I make him understand it was not actually him who had gotten me to faint without letting him know I was not truly over Niall and look like a pathetic ex?
“Oh, it’s alright, my odd, Cheshire boy. You did not hurt me, see, I am just fine!” I pointed at my body so he could see there was nothing wrong with me and he grinned relieved. He exhaled a breath I had no idea he was even keeping in and threw himself at my arms, hugging me tightly as if there was no tomorrow.
“He is odd,” Louis joined in, agreeing with me.
I laughed out loud at his statement and nodded in agreement. Harry pouted but then just shrugged. He knew we were right. Everyone knew we were right.
“Hey, by the way, Zayn mentioned something about you saying ‘ain’t nobody got time for that’ after we left you in the room with him and Niall,” Liam pointed out, the obvious question being in between the lines. Oh lord, great, let’s just talk about my randomness. There is nothing I love more than that!
“What was that about?” Louis asked anyways amused. He had a cheeky smile like he could not believe I had done such a weird thing while unconscious. He should know better.
“I…I was unconscious, I have no idea why I did it.”
“But what’s that about ‘ain’t nobody got time for that?” Harry questioned. “Where did you get it from? Or did you just come up with it?”
“Oh- have you never seen the video?” I wondered, interrupting myself.
“No. What video?”
“Give me you phone,” I commanded. He handed me his phone and I got onto YouTube and searched for the hilarious video. I quickly found it and grinned just at the thought of it. Harry observed me intrigued all the time. “There you go.” I handed him his phone and in ten seconds he was laughing so hard that he doubled in laughter and had to hold onto the bed in order not to fall.
I observed him just the way he had observed me before and grinned amused at the view. As I gazed at Harry, I remembered about the serious and intense conversation I had to have with Louis. “You and I need to have a serious conversation, Tomlinson.” I glared at him as he frowned at me, obviously not knowing what I meant and taken aback by my sudden change in mood.
“Okay…” he gazed at me expectantly and I tuck a strand of my hair behind my ear and got my gorgeous unicorn aside as to prevent him from hearing what Louis and I were going to talk about. He was too sweet and perfect as to be ruined by what I had to say.
I decided I was going to name him George. That is a great name for a unicorn.
“Come here, right now!” I screeched, never even blinking so Louis could understand how serious this situation was.
Louis hesitantly walked over to where I was and stood a foot away. I stretched my arm to grab his t-shirt’s collar with my hand and brought him really close to me so the other two boys could not hear.
I felt embarrassed even at the thought of it. I had been thinking of carrots in such a sweet and innocent way and he came to ruin it up for me. He was going to pay for it.
“I know the double meaning to the carrot joke,” I whispered. Even talking about it made me feel uncomfortable, but I had to reprimand him for it.
“What?” he asked taken aback once again. I stared into his eyes and just gazed until I was convinced he really did not understand what I meant.
“I know the double meaning to the carrot joke,” I slowly repeated.
He stared blankly at me for a couple of seconds and blinked several times before he understood what I meant and burst out laughing. Harry and Liam snapped their heads in our direction immediately as Louis stepped back and doubled in laughter just the way Harry had done a few minutes ago.
“It’s not funny, Louis!” I felt my cheeks blush as he continued laughing like a creep.
“What is he laughing about?” Liam asked and I felt my cheeks blush even more.
“I am not repeating it again!” I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest resigned. Ugh, boys.
“Oh, come on, I want to laugh as well!” Harry whined and I shut my eyes closed, praying Louis would have mercy of me and not embarrass me in front of them.
“She…” Louis held his tummy and some tears escaped his eyes. He was not going to have mercy after all. Oh lord. Please prepare me for what comes next. “She just found out…about the double meaning…to the carrot joke!” He took a deep breath to calm himself down but failed to stay serious and burst out laughing again. I bet his tummy even hurt already. I just hope it hurts like that forever so he can pay for making fun of me like that.
Liam and Harry exchanged a look before bursting out laughing as well. I glared at all of them, even if they could not quite see me through their tears of laughter, but I still did. It is the intention that counts, after all.
It was not funny at all to me. I glared at them, but they kept on laughing so I just gave up and rested my head on the pillow, waiting for them to finish. I diverted my thoughts to Havi and Louis in that fan fiction. They were so cute.
And damn, could that story make me fall in love. It almost felt as if I knew what the author was talking about. Just that I have never have fallen in love, so I cannot really connect to it. But for the author to make me believe I know what she is talking about makes me realize how good she is.
Several minutes later, they finally decided to stop laughing, so I took it as the cue for me to step out of my fantasy world and glare at them once again.
“When did you find out?” Harry asked amused as he shook his head and then adjusted his curls into the bird’s nest they usually were on. I do not even want to think about his hair in the morning.
“And how?” Liam questioned, completing Harry’s question.
“I was reading some fan fiction and-”
“You still read fan fiction?”
“You ever did?”
“Fan fiction, seriously? And is it about us?”
They stared at me smugly and I just shrugged. “Yeah, I am currently obsessed with this writer called Bel.” I saw their skeptical faces and rolled my eyes. I was not letting them underappreciate fan fiction. Yeah, it might be a little weird for them to read about themselves, but it was just a way of writers to practice some more techniques and to develop their imagination. And we all had right to our guilty pleasures, anyway. “It’s really good; you guys should give it a chance before judging it.”
“Before judging what?” a feminine voice said and I turned my head to the direction of the door, just like the three boys that were in there with me.
