Maya POV
After arriving at the airport Lucas made me get out of the car with him so he could say good-bye to me. I waited as he got his luggage out of the trunk Mom said that she was going to drive to a near by Starbucks to get a coffee and to text her when we were done. It didn't take him long to check both his bags in which made it a lot easier for him to get through TSA. Plus he found out his flight was going to be delayed by an hour so that gave us a lot more time. I texted Mom to let her know and she told me that was perfectly fine to spend as much time as I needed that she was just sitting in Starbucks reading an EBook on her iPad.
Lucas grabbed my hand after I got done texting Mom. "Come with me, I want to talk to you."
"Where else am I going to go?" I said sarcastically and he rolled his eyes at me.
"At least you haven't lost your sense of humor in all that sadness." he replied back.
We took a seat on a near by bench away from everyone. He never let go of my hand.
"What did you want to talk about?" I curiously asked.
"Maya, I know how hard this is for you that I'm leaving soon. It's killing me seeing how distraught you are over it. I want you to be strong for me though. I have faith in us that we will make this work. I love you and no one else. It's going to suck being so far away from you but we have FaceTime, we have text messages, and we can do that all the time no matter what. Text me, call me, or FaceTime me whenever you want but just promise me that you'll be okay?"
I started crying again which I hated to do because I knew he hated when I cried, "I promise I'll try to be strong for you but this is so hard, Lucas. But I've never fallen for any other boy like I have you. And if that scares you away I get it." I admitted.
Lucas put his hand under my chin and tilted my face up so I was looking at him "Maya, I want you to look at me."
I closed my eyes as another tear ran down my cheek but I looked at him. "I'm sorry."
"First off nothing you could do would ever scare me and to be quite honest with you I'm shocked you didn't go running for the hills after that whole Santa Suit fiasco." and when he said that I actually laughed for the first time since last night.
"I don't know what the hell possessed you to do that." I giggled.
"It's good to hear you laugh Maya. Your laughter is music to my ears."
"Yeah it kind of felt good to laugh." I sniffled.
"But to finish what I was saying, I have fallen hard for you too. No other girl compares to you. I've never felt this way about any other girl before. I love you Maya. Please promise me though that you will try to get through this?" he asked.
"I will try, I don't want to make any promises because I know as soon as you have to go that I'll be crying again."
"Okay I'll give you that because you said you were going to try for me." he said with a smile. "I love you."
"I love you more." I replied.
"Nah you don't."
"Don't fight me, Huckleberry." I said giving him a small smile.
"I've got to get going, Maya. I need to get in the TSA line and get to my terminal." he sighed.
"Okay. I'll text Mom and tell her she can come get me. The Starbucks she's at is right here so it wouldn't take her long."
Lucas and I stood up, he finally let go of my hand and I tried really hard to fight away the tears, "I'll FaceTime you as soon as I get to Texas. My flight is only an hour and half." The tears started running down my cheeks and he wiped them away.
"Okay I'll make sure to not miss your call." I answered. "Have a safe flight."
I started to walk away but he pulled me back to him. "Not yet." he said before grabbing my face and kissing me. I could get so lost in his kisses. This one was different than any of the others. There was a lot more passion than the other kisses and I think that was his way of letting me know how much he loves me.
"Bye Maya I love you." he said kissing me on the forehead.
I watched walk away to the TSA line and then went over to the door. My mom was already out there. By the time I reached her car I was sobbing.
"Oh baby girl I'm sorry." she sighed.
"I'm going to miss him so much Mom." I said as I wiped my tear away.
"Maya, you'll see him again. I promise." she replied.
"I know that Mom but it's not easy." I answered.
"We're going to go to Topanga's. I need to talk to her about something and I want you to see Riley. I think you need her right now." she replied.
"I just want to go to bed." I replied.
"I know you do but we're going to go there first." she answered.
Katy POV
I really hated seeing my daughter in such a depressing state. This was nothing like Maya, but I knew she loved Lucas very much and with him being her first love I got it. They had spent so much time together while here. I decided it might be best to let them spend time together while at the airport. I went to the Starbucks that was close by and ordered a coffee. Once I sat down I texted Topanga to see if she was up yet. It didn't take her long to respond to me. I didn't want to get into anything with her over text so I asked if I could come over and if she could let Riley know that Maya really needed her.
I picked Maya up at the airport and wasn't surprised to see her a complete and utter mess. She was sobbing when she got in the car. I told her our plans and even though she wasn't into it she knew that she had to come with me. I was glad that she was able to pull herself together by the time we reached the Matthews. Topanga had just got done making breakfast when we got there. She told me she made enough for us. Maya said she didn't feel like eating so Riley took her back to their room. Topanga allowed Auggie to eat breakfast in his bedroom while he watched Cartoons which left me, Topanga, and Cory alone to talk.
"She's a mess." Topanga said in reference to Maya.
"I know, that's why I'm here. I didn't want to explain all of it over text so I gave you a really short summary." I sighed. "Lucas had no other choice he had to leave."
"Why couldn't he stay? Cory asked confused.
"Because he's on probation." I answered.
"What? You're okay with this Katy? What did he do?" Topanga asked.
"Lucas had a little too much to drink on a visit out in Texas and some boy made a comment basically calling his mom a whore. She's a single Mom who works a lot to proved for him and his sister. Lucas didn't like what the boy said so he beat him up. "I replied. "I know what you guys are thinking that this is probably a bad idea from the get go but he's a really good kid."
"If he's on probation then how his he allowed to visit out of state?" Topanga asked and clearly she was confused.
"Yeah how does that work?" Cory asked.
"Well he hasn't done anything bad since that happened. He realized he messed up and is changing himself. People make mistakes and use bad judgment. Lucas is so good to Maya and she's the happiest I have ever seen her."
"Ah I get it. So he had no other choice but to go back and Maya is upset because she just found this out about the probation" Cory said.
"Yep." I replied.
Cory looked over at Topanga "This kind of reminds me of us when you moved to Pittsburgh but came back to me"
"It does. So how do I come in?" Topanga asked.
"Well I was wondering if there was some way you could help get off his probation. He has done so well. There is no reason why he shouldn't get off early." I replied.
"I'll see what I can do. I can't make any promises though." Topanga replied.
"I know that but your an amazing lawyer and I have faith in you." I said with a smile.
Topanga told me she would look into everything on the next work day. I told her I appreciated everything she could do for me and for Maya. I knew she would help me and pull through for me. If there was any lawyer that could get this kid off probation early it's Topanga Matthews.
