Chapter Eighty Six – Liam
Liam's in his office a week later typing up a new contract and questioning his sanity for wanting to work with the person it's for, when there's a knock on his door. "Come in" he calls waiting as the door opens slowly and Nikki pops her head in, "hey, am I interrupting?" she asks and Liam chuckles shaking his head, "no, you're fine. Did Niall need something?" Liam asks. Nikki laughs now and shakes her head "no, actually, I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing with everything that's been going on" she shrugs. Liam smiles turning away from his computer to look at her. "I'm doing good actually. We get our house in three weeks, just found out we're having twins. And no one has to go to court for the whole Sadie incident, there was enough evidence without us. I think my life might be returning to normal" Liam answers grinning slightly. Nikki smiles, nodding her head, "that's great Liam, really. You deserve to be happy" she says, before moving back towards the door, "I should get back to work, I just wanted to check in" she mumbles, opening the door and stepping back out, Liam watches her go and shakes his head slightly, before moving back to the contract with a groan.
Liam decides to call it an early day and leave as soon as he's finished the contract and sent it to the lawyers to be looked over, make sure he's not missing anything. It's just after one so Zayn will still be at work so Liam tosses his stuff into the passenger seat of his car and heads to pick Bella up, after sending Zayn a quick text to tell him he has Bella. It's not long before Liam's pulling into Trisha's driveway and shutting off his car, he makes his way to the door knocking before stepping back and waiting. Trisha pulls it open a minute later looking confused "Liam? Is everything alright?" she asks concerned and Liam chuckles "yeah everything's fine, I just got out of work early and decided to come get my favourite girl" he explains. Trisha grins and steps aside letting Liam walk into the house, "come on in, Bella's napping at the moment, I can go wake her up for you" Trisha says but Liam shakes his head "no, don't wake her up, I can come back later" he mumbles. Trisha laughs, "she'll probably wake up soon, why don't you just stay and have some tea?" she asks. Liam chuckles nodding his head, "yeah as long as it's not any trouble" he agrees as Trisha leads him into the kitchen and practically pushes him down into a seat.
Liam looks around the kitchen as his soon to be mother in law makes them tea, he can't help wondering if it's always looked like this and how often little Zayn was in here. He's jolted out of his thoughts by a cup being placed in front of him "thank you" he hums as Trisha takes a seat across from him with her own. "How was she today?" Liam asks and Trisha smiles "she was great, Bella always is though, she's a sweet girl" she answers and Liam nods, "yeah Zayn did a great job with her" he murmurs. Trisha smiles at him "he has, but so have you Liam" she hums and Liam smiles, nodding slightly, "thanks, but she is who she is because of Zayn and his parenting, I haven't been around long enough to make that much of an impact" he mumbles. Trisha smiles at him "Liam, you are an excellent father and you've been so good for Zayn and Arabella. Your twins are going to be wonderful because of the two of you" she assures and Liam smiles because honestly he's been worried about how he's going to handle being a father. Yes he already is one to Bella, but he's never had to worry about infants before and he's scared if he's being honest with himself. "It's normal to be scared Liam. Zayn was terrified when he found out he was going to be a father but do you want to know what I told him?" Trisha asks. Liam nods, "please?" he mumbles taking a sip of his tea, "I told him, that it's okay to be scared but when the time comes you'll do right by those babies and you'll love them, and they'll love you because you're a family and that's what counts" Trisha says. Liam smiles "thank you" he murmurs just as a sleepy looking Bella stumbles into the kitchen.
"Grandma, I hungry" she whines. Trisha jumps up and moves to scoop Bella up, "okay sweets, let's get you a snack" she cheers, passing Bella to Liam who takes her and snuggles her close. Bella turns to look at him after a second it finally registering for her who's lap she's sitting on, "Daddy?" she asks confused. Liam chuckles "hey Princess" he coos, kissing her forehead, "Daddy why here?" Bella asks head tilting to one side in confusion. Liam grins, as Trisha passes over a plate of apple slices, "I missed you, and left work early to come see you" Liam explains. Bella appears to be thinking about it before she nods and leans back into Liam's chest more as she eats her apple slices "what did you and Grandma do today?" Liam asks and Bella giggles, "it secret Daddy" she laughs and Liam arches an eyebrow, Trisha laughs, "I honestly don't know, all we did was play in the garden and make brownies" she explains. Bella pouts at her "Grandma shh, it secret" she huffs and Trisha raises her hands in surrender "I'm sorry, Love" she coos. Bella just huffs and crosses her arms over her chest looking away, Liam bounces her slightly on his lap, "hey, don't be rude" he say sternly and Bella pouts before sighing "it okay Grandma" she mumbles. "Well Princess,should we get going? Find an adventure to go on, until Baba comes home?" Liam asks, draining his tea cup. Bella nods "what adventure Daddy?" she asks and Liam shrugs "I don't know, but we'll find something" he murmurs setting Bella down off his lap. "What do you say to Grandma?" Liam asks standing up, "bye Grandma, thank you" Bella chimes running over to hug her. "Bye Love, be good for Daddy" Trisha coos, kissing Bella's cheek, "thank you, for tea and watching the monster" Liam hums but Trisha waves him off pulling him into a hug, "anytime Liam" she murmurs before Liam scoops Bella and her backpack into his arms, heading out to his car.
"Daddy?" Bella calls from the backseat as Liam's driving, "yeah?" Liam hums "where going?" she asks, and Liam chuckles looking at her in the rearview mirror for a second, before his eyes return to the road, "on an adventure" he answers and Bella huffs. "But where Daddy" she whines and Liam chuckles again, "you'll see" he hums as Bella sighs again. To be honest Liam really doesn't know where he's going until they get there, he pulls in and stops the car turning to look at a still pouting Bella, "we're here" he chimes and she perks up looking out the window to try and see where they are. "Where here?" Bella asks obviously confused as Liam helps her out of the car, he laughs pointing to the large building "you see that?" he asks and Bella nods, reaching to be picked up. "Well in there is a big pool and lots of fun waterslides" Liam explains, scooping the three year old up as he starts walking "Daddy no bathing suit" Bella pouts and Liam chuckles nodding, "I know Lovely, Daddy doesn't have his either, but there's a store just inside where we can get some and towels too" he explains. Bella bites her lip as she thinks it over and Liam can't help but think how much she looks like Zayn when she does. When they get inside Liam veers into the gift shop to find both himself and Bella something to wear, Bella gasps and starts pointing from his arms and Liam turns to see what it is. She's found a rack with princess bathing suits and towels hanging from it and Liam chuckles lightly, "Should have seen that coming" he murmurs, as they move closer, "which one Bells?" Liam asks and she tilts her head "Punzel, please?" she decides and Liam nods flipping through the Rapunzel ones to find one in her size. "Alright, Daddy needs shorts and we need towels" Liam murmurs passing the Rapunzel bathing suit to Bella to hold while he finds himself a pai rof shorts.
Once Liam's paid for both the swimsuits and admission he sets Bella on her feet and crouches down in front of her, "you need to stay with Daddy the whole time okay?" he asks and Bella nods slowly. "I mean it Bella, there's lots of people and water in here, please stay with me" he explains as he grabs her hand and leads her into the family changing room. Once Liam's gotten Bella into her bathing suit and himself changed he places all their clothes, and his wallet, keys, and cell phone into a locker, slipping some coins into it securing their belongings. "You ready?" he asks and Bella grins nodding at him and reaching for his hand, as they walk out of the changing room towards the main area, "where too first Princess?" Liam asks Bella looks around the room before she starts pointing, "pool Daddy?" she asks, batting her eyelashes at him. Liam chuckles nodding his head, before leading her towards the pool, hanging their towels up nearby, "alright do you want to walk in with me, or do you want me to get in and you can jump to me?" Liam asks. Bella chews her bottom lip as she thinks before she points at Liam "you in" she demands and Liam arches an eyebrow at her, "please?" she adds and he nods. "Okay, you stay right here while Daddy gets in the water okay?" Liam says and Bella nods. Once Liam's in the water he turns towards Bella "alright Princess, whenever you're ready jump" Liam encourages. Liam watches as Bella hesitates before she takes two steps closer to the water and jumps, Liam catches her easily and she giggles madly, clapping her hands excitedly.
They repeat the whole process of Bella jumping into Liam's arms in the water about twenty times before Bella shakes her head at Liam. "No more Daddy" she whines and Liam nods, "alright then, now what?" he asks holding her close to him as he climbs out of the water, "big slide" Bella exclaims pointing. Liam chuckles shaking his head, "how about that slide?" he asks, moving her finger to a much smaller one. Bella whines and shakes her head, stomping her foot, "but daddy" she whines carrying out the letters, Liam shakes his head "Princess, that slide is too big, even Daddy gets scared on it, let's go on the smaller one" he tries, but Bella keeps pouting, "or we can go home" Liam tries. Bella huffs but nods her head slowly, "fine Daddy" she mumbles and Liam shakes his head, carrying her towards the smaller slide and joining the line to go on. Once it's their turn, Liam carries Bella up the stairs, where an attendant hands him an inflated ring, "put her on your lap, and hold on. Enjoy your slide" the bored looking employee states as Liam sits down settling Bella in his lap, before they're pushed off and start zooming down the slide. Bella squeals excitedly as they go and Liam can't help but laugh, he's really glad she's enjoying herself, and he's happy he bailed on work to spend this time with her.
They go on several more kid friendly slides and one more swim in the pool before Liam decides it's time to get home Zayn should be home by now and he'll probably want them home for dinner. "Alright Bells, let's go get changed, Baba should be home now" Liam says wrapping his towel around his waist before draping Bella's over her shoulders and wrapping it around her. Bella pouts at him and he chuckles "what?" he laughs, and she reaches to be picked up "up Daddy. Please?" she whines and Liam chuckles scooping her into his arms as he makes his way back towards the changing room. Once they're both back in their own clothes Liam winces at Bella's still wet hair, he should have gotten a brush, "we'll just have to sort it out at home" he says more to himself than anyone, and scoops Bella and their wet bathing suits, and towels up, carrying everything to his car. Once Bella's strapped in Liam's phone starts ringing, figuring it's Zayn he answers without looking as he moves around the car climbing in, "Liam, when are you guys coming home?" Zayn asks and Liam chuckles "hello to you too, and we're on our way now" he answers. Zayn sighs "what is it babe?" Liam asks, switching the phone to come through his car's bluetooth as he pulls out of his parking space. "I'm lonely" Zayn groans and Liam laughs "you have Aurora" he offers but judging from the noise Zayn makes, he's not impressed "what's wrong Zee?" Liam presses. "It just wasn't a great day, that's all" Zayn mumbles, "okay, Bella and I will be home in twenty. Why don't you order some take away for dinner and relax" Liam coos. Zayn huffs, "yeah sure. See you soon" he mumbles. "Love you Babe" Liam coos, "yeah, love you too" Zayn answers before the call disconnects. "Where Baba?" Bella asks and Liam chuckles "he's at home, we'll see him soon" he answers, just happy he got to spend some alone time with his girl today.
