*Kaname's PoV*
A starry sky surrounded me as I walked around the quiet peaceful forest.
In the distance, the same girl was standing in the distance, her pink hair blowing.
"It seems that the last time you and I met I didn't tell you my name as we were interrupted..." She said, her head still turned around.
Slowly, she turned around, and she gave me a warm smile.
"Lily? Is that you...?" I said in a surprised tone, my eyes widened.
"I guess you can say that... I am the memories that she has lost. I am her past life, Kira Adachi. So, have you remembered? The promise we made to remember each other 9,000 years ago?" She said in a very soft and gentle voice.
"I have, I can't believe all this time you were in front of me, yet the person you are now does not remember me... I feel like I've broke that promise between us. It's hurting me so much you don't even know..." I said regretfully.
"It's not your fault, Kaname. The higher-ups in Takamagahara are the ones that have to do with this. They erased your memories when you fell to rest, therefore you weren't able to help the current me regain my memories. But the time will eventually come when her current memories and her memories from 9,000 years ago will become one. You just need to give her time. She's been having visions as well. She knows it's you. She just doesn't know the reasons to why are you appearing in her dreams."
"So... I want to ask you once more. Why do you have that red string tied to your finger?"
"I told you. This red string of fate is connected to my current fate, which is death. Only you, my eternal soulmate can save me. As you know, before I was executed, they put a curse on my family; the eldest daughter of the Adachi family will die on her 18th birthday. Four months from now, I will turn 18. During that time, they must confess their everlasting love for the other person..."
"You have always been the one I love. Always! I thought you were gone forever, I thought I would never see you again..."
However, she then looked away sadly.
"But... You found someone else to love. You don't need me. You have Yuuki Cross now don't you? Thinking back, my current self doesn't have to remember..." I saw that tears were running down her cheeks.
"Lily..." I couldn't help but embrace her from the back.
"Don't say those things. I'll be honest, I did love Yuuki. She was the most important person in my life...But! Once you started to appear in my dreams, everything changed. My feelings for her slowly began to disappear! I'm so sorry if I broke your heart, I'm sorry if I made you cry, just please.. Please forgive me for the cruel things I did to you.."
"Kaname, It's going to be hard for us to be together. Getting my memories, and I have this feeling that Yuuki is going to rebel. She is going to fight to win your heart. She really loves you..."
"...But I don't. I don't love her. She may have won my heart once, but I don't think she will get it again."
"You think, huh...To me, you don't sound positive. That kind of makes me trust you a bit less."
"I don't play with maidens' hearts. I would never break your heart. Just please, remember me... I beg of you..." I said pleadingly.
With that, the dream ended and once again I woke up in my dorm.
"Why are tears falling from my eyes? This is ridiculous... I don't cry."
The sun had just begun to rise. I got up from bed and went up and stood against the window.
"Lily... I will get your memories back..." I then resolved to go and talk to her.
*Lily's PoV*
Exhausted and tired, I ended up walking to class like a zombie with Hiroki. Plus I have to deal with Physics... For some reason, I can't get Kaname out of my mind. Ever since he appeared in my dreams last night, I can't forget. Then again I really shouldn't go to class... I'm really feeling aout of it today.
"Hiroki... I really think I'm going back to the dorm after all... I'm not feeling well today..." I said.
"All right then. Well, get better Lily. Do you want me to escort you back to the dorm?" He said.
"No, it's fine... I can go myself. Thanks, though." I said with a smile.
I made my way back to the direction of the Sun Dorms. Everything was a bit blurry, but I can still walk fine somewhat.
I heard the cheering of Day Class girls and I saw Kaname and his friend come in my direction.
"Lily, can we talk for a bit?" Kaname said as he was approaching me with a guy with blonde hair and emerald eyes.
I looked away. "What do you need, Kaname?"
"I simply wish to speak to you about something. It's about those recurring dreams both of us have been having." My eyes widened at his statement.
Wait... how does he know I've been having those dreams? And he's been having them too?
"All right, fine. But who's your friend in the back?" I asked curiously, looking at him.
"I'm sorry to not have introduced myself! I'm Takuma Ichijo, the vice-dorm president of the Moon Dormitory. It's a pleasure to meet you, Lily!" He said cheerfully.
I smiled. "Likewise."
"Can we please talk about this somewhere else? Where there is no one around?" I said.
He nodded and we made our way to the fountain and sat down. Takuma was looking around, making sure the Day Class girls don't get close.
"Now. This is the question I want to ask you. So was I right last night? Did you and I meet a long time ago?" I said.
He slowly nodded his head. "Yes... We did. Yet, you don't remember me because you were reincarnated. We made a promise 9,000 years ago."
My mind's in a total blank. I don't remember making a promise or anything to Kaname. From what I've heard from the Headmaster, he says that I'm the reincarnation of Kira Adachi, my ancestor and Kaname is the ancestor that fell in love with me and vice versa...
"Then why at our first meeting did you not remember me? Why didn't you say anything?" I asked him.
"Because... I didn't remember either. Not until I heard the conversation between you and the Headmaster when you said that I appeared in your dreams."
"Heh... so you were snooping in our conversation?" I said smirking.
"Yes, I was but I had no intention to. I was going to talk to the Headmaster myself and I couldn't help but listen."
Wait... He didn't hear about my curse didn't he? Or my final mission?
"Did you hear anything else but that?"
He looked away, not wanting to tell me. Damn it.. He heard it.
"You shouldn't know about that, Kaname... Nobody was supposed to find out about this. I don't want anyone to feel pity for me."
"You could say that I've somewhat always known. That time you were executed. Your past life was killed on her 18th birthday. That was the time your family was bestowed with the curse... That time I held your dead body in my arms... That was the most painful time in my life..." He said sadly.
My eyes widened and a vision from the past came back to me. Kaname was holding my lifeless body tightly in his arms and calling out my name.
"Kira! Wake up... Please don't leave me! Without you, what meaning does my life have? I wanted to spend my life with you, eternally!"
I couldn't move my body. I could feel that my body was drenched in blood. I was already gone from this world. I was executed for loving Kaname?
"That is your punishment, Kaname Kuran. You cannot be with a holy being of Takamagahara. And for being with one of them, we had to wash her of her sin..."
"...How dare you.. Take away the most important person in my life from me..."
The earth began to shake. "It is a sin for a vampire to be with a holy being. It's unspeakable.."
This shaking of the earth symbolizes Kaname's pain and suffering because of my death...
This voice sounds like my past life..
"Lily.. Are you alright?" I then came back to my senses with Kaname calling my voice.
I had no words to say. My eyes were tearing up. I don't remember anything... But that vision I saw... That was me in a past life. And Kaname was suffering...
"...I'm sorry." That was the only thing I was able to say.
"What for?"
"That I don't remember of what happened between us. I know that we were lovers in a past life and such, but I don't remember the happy times we shared at all. I'm so sorry, Kaname."
"Don't worry about that. I'm going to help you get your memories back..." He said as he held my cheek.
"Thank you, Kaname... I know I was kind of a meanie when you and I first met, but I think you may be on the list of people that I can trust." I said, smiling.
I stood up. "I really should get back to my dorm. I'm feeling a bit tired and as you've heard, I have to find Shizuka Hio... Tonight I won't be coming to do Disciplinary Committee duties. I'll see you around..."
As I walked ahead, I was stopped by his hand.
"It's not going to be easy to find her... She's disappeared without a trace. It won't be easy to find her, at least for now..."
"But I can still do this. I'll do everything in my power to make sure this task is completed before my birthday."
"Can I at least help you with this?" He said.
"No. This is my mission. I don't want to involve you in this... What you can help me with is trying to get my memories back. That would be awesome help." I said with a small smile.
"Of course I will. Shall I take you back to your dorm?" He said.
"Sure, thanks..." I said.
*Yuuki's PoV*
I was sitting at my desk, only to see that Lily did not come to class today. She must not be feeling well...
"Kaname is really trying to win the new girl's heart, isn't he... Taking her back to her dorm and all.." One of the Day Class students said as they were looking outside the window.
"What are you going to do about it Cross? She's taking your man away." One of the other Day Class students said.
"Oh, don't be silly! Kaname isn't interested in anyone. Lily's just feeling a bit sick, and he's helping her back to her dorm that's all!" I said with a smile.
I do have to admit that I'm feeling a bit jealous. Kaname has never acted that way with me.
"Yuuki, are you feeling alright?" Yori said.
"Yes, I'm fine, just feeling a bit bothered, that's all..."
"Bothered by the fact that Kaname and Lily are walking together?"
"Well...Yes, a bit. He's only acted kind towards me and I felt really special that I was the only one getting that treatment, but now... I've seen him spend more time with Lily a lot."
Then I saw that her younger brother Hiroki pulled up next to me.
"I sense a pang of jealousy from our good pal Yuuki here! Don't worry! There's a lot of other fish in the sea!" He said as he looked over at Zero.
But I want both of them. I have feelings for both of them. My heart won't be satisfied unless I have the both of them by my side... I put my feelings aside and pretended to not care.
"Mou! I'm not jealous! I told you, Kaname isn't interested in anyone!"
"...How would you know that? You cannot predict anyone's feelings, you can't read his heart. Only he himself knows his feelings."
"B-But! I've spent more time with him! I know his feelings, believe me." I said, reassuring him.
Hiroki sighed. "Just be prepared if he finds someone else you can't always have both. You have to pick one, and if it takes two to satisfy your heart then you're just sick."
What's with him?! I didn't know he had an attitude like that!
"Just shut up already." Zero said, referring to Hiroki and I.
The physics teacher entered the classroom.
"Good morning, class! Today I have some excellent news! We have a school trip coming up and we are going to go along with the Night Class! Some of you will be assigned with a partner from the Night Class, however you will sleep in separate rooms based on the Headmaster's order, and you need special permission by the Headmaster if you want to stay in the same room as them."
I hope I get assigned with Kaname... Maybe I can spend some time with him and enjoy the peaceful trip. Plus I'm sure the Headmaster would let me stay in a room with him.
"So... Where are we going?" Hiroki said.
"We are going to go the Ishigaki Islands. They have beautiful crystal clear beaches there, and they are known to be once the holy waters of Takamagahara, where their warriors and guardians once descended to fight a battle over 9,000 years ago."
"Sounds cool..." Yori said.
"Well, anyways we should start with class. We will go more into depth with this another day." Mr. Aihara stated.
I sighed. Here's to another boring class of physics..
*Lily's PoV*
Kaname and Takuma then escorted me as far as they were able to go to the Sun Dorm.
"This is the furthest we can take you, Lily." Kaname said.
"It's fine. Thank you, Kaname, Takuma."
"Wait, Lily. One more thing I want to ask you."
I giggled. "You sure?"
"Yes. This time I'm sure. So the Day Class and Night Class are having an upcoming class trip to the Ishigaki Islands, and I was wondering if you want to be my partner. You see, those islands are sacred to Takamagahara, and they should jog your memory about, you know...us." He said with a smile.
"Really? Sounds like fun! But don't they assign partners?"
"I'll just go and get permission from the Headmaster. I'm sure he won't mind."
"Won't Yuuki be bothered by this?"
"Possibly. But that doesn't matter, I want to be with you." He said.
I giggled. "Ok, I'll go with you.." I said.
"Then.. I'm looking forward to it, Lily." He said as he kissed me on the palm of my hand.
He turned and walked away with Takuma. What am I even doing? I told myself I wouldn't fall in love again, but...my feelings for him are starting to grow little by little... I honestly can't deny it.
I made my way to the the girls' dorm and went back to my dorm, only to jump back into bed. Ugh.. So much constant headaches and visions.. It's killing me. I just want to remember so it can stop. Anyways. I can't stop here... I have to do some research on Shizuka Hio. I know that she is the one that killed Zero's family, but...
On the Hio family themselves, I don't know much about them. I'm going to have to go to the Association tonight and get some more information on them. I didn't want Kaname to know about this. Either way, he is going to involve himself in this in some way. I then moved to the side in bed and closed my eyes. Maybe a nice nap will do...
*Yuuki's PoV, a few hours later*
All the classes ended a few minutes ago and Zero, Hiroki, and I were getting ready to do Disciplinary Committee duties. We all waited for Seira and Daisuke outside of the academy.
About a minute later, Seira and Daisuke came up to us from getting their weapons from the Sun Dorms.
"Is Lily coming today?" Zero said.
"No, she isn't. Actually there is something that you need to know, Zero. She told us not to say this, but I think you have a right to know..."
Seira took Zero somewhere where we couldn't hear them and his eyes widened once Seira told him what she was going to tell him.
He came up to us and took off his Disciplinary Committee badge. "I'm not doing duties today. I have something to take care of at the Association."
"Let me come with you, Zero!" I said.
I don't want him to get hurt or anything.
"...No. This is none of your business. Stay here with Seira, Daisuke, and Hiroki." He said.
"But...!"
I then saw that Lily was walking out of the dorms in casual clothes. She was wearing white shorts with a purple tank top and a black leather jacket with black leather boots that went up to her leg. On her left thigh, she had her vampire hunter gun. She also had her hair tied up to a ponytail. She kind of looks...pretty. She came up to us.
"Well.. I'm off! Wish me luck, everyone." She said cheerfully.
"...I'm going with you." Zero said.
"What?! Why?" She said.
"You're going to the Hunter's Association, correct? I'm coming as well."
She sighed. "Seira told you, didn't she..."
He nodded his head.
"Whatever, let's go. The limo is at the front of the academy entrance. Let's go."
"I'll try to be back as soon as I can. I just want to get this over with already..."
Zero and Lily then made their way out of the academy.
To be honest, I feel kind of left out now. Most of the Disciplinary Committee now is made up of vampire hunters, and I'm just an ordinary human... They don't tell me anything. I mean, I know the Night Class' secret as well I have a right to know!
As we were walking to the gates, I decided to ask Seira why Lily and Zero were going to the Association.
"Hey, Seira..."
"What's up, Yuuki?" She said.
"Why did Lily and Zero go to the Association?" I said.
She stayed silent.
"I'm sorry... I'm not allowed to say anything related to the situation to anyone..."
"But you told Zero!"
"Because the situation involves him. I had to tell him. Don't worry about it, Yuuki." She said as she walked ahead of me.
I guess I'll ask Kaname if he can speak to the Headmaster about us being partners for the class trip. I'm positive he's going to say yes!
As we were doing our duties, making sure the girls don't go crazy, they were taking advantage of the fact that Zero was not there.
"Kiryu isn't here today! We need to take advantage of this!" One of the girls said.
"Not on my watch..." Daisuke said with a dark aura.
The girls froze and went back to their positions. The gate then opened, revealing the Night Class students. Here's my chance!
"U-um! Kaname!" I said, calling out to him.
He looked over at me with a small smile and walked up to me.
"Good evening, Yuuki. How have you been doing?"
"Great. H-hey... I have a quick question to ask you." I said.
"What is it?" He said.
"Do you want to be my partner for the class trip? We can go and talk to the Headmaster if you want!" I said a bit nervously.
He looked away, and then looked at me with a pitiful expression.
"I'm sorry... But I already have a partner, and I'm going to go talk to the Headmaster for a request."
What?! He couldn't be going with...
"O-oh... I'm sorry." I said.
"No, it's fine. I apologize as well. I have to get to class. I'll see you around, Yuuki." He then walked away with the rest of the Night Class.
"Aww.. Poor Yuuki. Kaname already has a partner, and it's not her..." One of the Day Class students said.
I ignored the Day Class girls' cruel statements. It's obvious who he's going with. He's going with Lily. It's too obvious! But I understand why. Even though Lily is a human, she is of high nobility and on top of that, a very talented vampire hunter, plus she's really pretty. Kaname is a Pureblood vampire of very high nobility as well. Considering their racial differences they would be perfect together. But even so, I'm not going to let that bring me down. I will win Kaname's heart back. He was mine to begin with.
*Lily's PoV*
As the driver was driving us to the Hunter's Association, it was quiet for a time until Zero spoke.
"Why didn't you tell me that your mission is to kill Shizuka Hio?!" He said in a direct tone.
"I didn't want you to get involved with your terrible past. I didn't want to open a wound from your past again." I said.
"This is important. I need to take part in this."
"But this is MY mission. I'm giving her the final blow."
"Alright then. But I still want to help."
"All right. Well today, we are going to the Association's library to get some information on the Hio family, then go to the residence itself to find any clues."
"Sounds interesting..." He said.
The car sped off to the Association as we begun my final mission: to find and kill Shizuka Hio...
*Third person PoV*
A 18-year old man stood in front of an older man in about his mid 70's in his office.
"I wish to go to Cross Academy. I want to reconcile with her. I regret my actions completely."
"Even if I did allow this, you need to speak with her parents. I'm not her father."
"But you are still related to her, you can at least talk to them for me. They are not going to forgive me at all. I want to be with her again. I have realized that she is the one that always brings a smile to my face."
"What if Lily found someone else? You can't get her back." The man said.
"Them I will win her heart again. She's mine. Plus, what if that "someone else" is a vampire?"
"I will not tolerate it! I refuse to accept her being with one of those...creatures. I'm sure Kazuki wouldn't allow it either." The older man said in an annoyed tone.
"Kazuki wishes for all his children not to fall in love with one of them, but... if they did, he said that their happiness comes first..." The young man said.
"Then I will send you to Cross Academy as a spy... If Lily happens to have a close relationship with one, I want you to report back to me. I will not allow it at all. Vampire hunters are born for one purpose: to kill vampires, not to fall in love with them. But that is if. Lily told me that she would never fall in love with anyone again, I highly doubt she will fall in love with a vampire. We can keep this a secret from Kazuki and Hiromi both."
"Agreed. Let's keep this a secret."
"I'll speak to Kaien Cross. Be prepared to transfer there tomorrow morning."
"All right." He said.
The young man left the office, leaving the older man in the office.
"I hate vampires. I will not allow them to be involved with our family...I'd rather have him be with her, than with a despicable vampire...." He whispered to himself within the darkness of his office.
