When you find out that you've lost the one you love, you're whole world suddenly becomes numb. Suddenly nothing matters anymore. Its all gone & its all worthless.
It was about a 2 hour drive to the place Elijah thought Klaus's body way, Tree Hill. The drive itself was torture. I was debating against myself whether it was the right time for me to do this, to see his lifeless body. But that spark was still there, that spark that made me think that his secretly hiding out somewhere or that this was just a hallucination from my pregnancy..or something.
"Were here." Elijah announced as he turned into a quiet friendly street. As we drove past I noticed this city's surroundings. It was quiet dark, the streets were filled with people in mostly comfortable warm clothes & there were a lot more cafes & libraries than expensive clothes shops & hairdressers. Let me just say that this place was no California.
"So do you have any idea where he might be?" I asked, looking at the map in front of me.
Elijah sighed, "Caroline, this is not a wise idea."
"I know Elijah. But he needs a proper-" I gulped, "Burial." I say quietly & glanced back down at the map. No Caroline, you will not break here, not now.
"I understand." Elijah agrees.
"Well firstly, who told you about Klaus's death?" I ask.
"A witch that lives not far from town, Sophie." Elijah replies.
"Well lets go..."
We reached the witch, Sophie's place & Elijah suggested for me to stay in the car. I watched him walk to the steps of the house & ring the door bell. A few seconds later a woman walks outs & suddenly gasped as she saw Elijah. He then started talking & the witch glanced at me.
I felt her eyes burning into my chest. This was no ordinary witch.. I gave her a crooked smile & she awkwardly waved at me. He attention went back to Elijah who started talking again..A few moments later Sophie's eyes turned cold & I could tell she was mad. I decided this was my cue. I quickly hopped out of the car & jogged to them.
"Where is he?" I scowled.
"I don't know!" Sophie exclaimed & Elijah took a step closer to her.
"Why don't we make a compromise Sophie?" Elijah says formally.
I crossed my arms and frowned. I turned my attention to Elijah & so did Sophie. "Tell us where you witches have hid my brothers body & I will simply call off the vampires I've sent out to track you down and slaughter you."
"You think thats a threat to me?" Sophie challenged him. "That means nothing to me. Ketsia will protect us witches from you blood thirsty demons!" she hissed before storming back into her house & slamming the door on us.
I clutched my hands into a fist & stormed to her front door & started knocking aggressively, "Listen here you little bitch! I won't hesitate to kill you if you won't tell me where Klaus is!! I will personally burn this place down with you in it. If you try to run, I will hunt you down and-"
"Caroline enough!" Elijah says, interrupting my rant. I escaped a sigh & turned to him.
"What are we going to do?" I asked tiredly.
"Lets just go home Caroline. I mean why are you really doing this?" he suddenly asks me.
I narrowed my eyes & gave him a sharp look, "Why are you so against giving your brother a proper burial? This is your brother, Elijah! I thought you were the proper one & yet here you are, just letting him go, like he meant absolutely nothing to you!" I exclaimed.
Elijah looked away. He was hiding something, something that I was sure I wasn't suppose to know.
"What is it?" I say quietly.
"Its nothing." He says slowly.
"If its Klaus.. please Elijah.. I'm dying over here. I cannot sleep, I can't eat. Please this is killing me not knowing where he might be." I pleaded.
"Its getting dark.." He says, quickly changing the subject, "We should go and find a hotel to stay for the night." He gives me a quick glance & walks back to the car.
I felt a tear or two dropping down my cheeks & I quickly wiped it off. Why is he being so difficult?

That night I waited patiently until i was sure Elijah was completely asleep. I tip toed out of the hotel & out into the cold town. I walked & walked until I finally found a bar. Actually it was the only bar opened.
The minute I walked in, I instantly felt insecure. Everybody stared me down like I was a bite to eat. After a few seconds they suddenly went back to their lives. Oh I get it, this is a vampire bar.. I slowly walk to the main bar & got the bartenders attention.
"What can I get for you?" He smiled.
"Actually, I was looking for someone.." I say.
"Everybody is," he winked, "Who?" he asked.
"Sophie?" I replied.
"The witch?" he confirmed, "I don't know, that woman's always on a mission, last I saw her was earlier tonight..she told me she was heading to that old farm just outside of town."
"Did she say what she was doing there?" I asked.
"No idea. Bloody witches, they're always up to no good." He complained.
I nodded & smiled, "Thank you so much for your help."
I quickly compelled a drunk man to give me his car & headed outside of town. Surely enough there was an abandoned farm. I turned off into the long driveway. I hopped out of the car quickly feeling shivers down my spine. It was dark & this farm is freaking me out.
I slowly walked inside the house & saw nothing but darkness & some light from the windows by the bright full moon.
"Hello?" I called out. No respond.
I walked up the stairs & into one of the rooms. I instantly felt the shiver again. This room had a few candle lit up & a coffee like table in the middle with a bunch of voodoo nonsense. Suddenly I didn't feel safe.
"Klaus, where are you?" I whisper to myself as I walked back down the stairs. I hopped back into my car and dialed Stefan's number.
A few rings later the line picked up, "Caroline...?" He grumbles, "Its 2am.. why are you calling me?"
"Stefan, Klaus is alive.." I say, "I can feel it.." I smiled.
"How can you be so sure?" Stefan asks curiously.
"I'm not." I whispered.
Then suddenly I heard a loud 'bang' from inside the house. The sound was so high I almost literally jumped of my seat.
"Stefan i have to go..." I breathed.
"Wait what-" I hung up before he was able to finish what he was going to say.
I quickly ran back into the house and examined the place. There was hardly any evidence of an explosion anywhere. I sighed heavily & I turned back around heading for the door.
I could see the door handle, it was a few meters from my hand. I touched the handle with my point finger & that was when everything turned pitch black.
I struggled to find light. I tried to scream but all that came out was my muffled voice. There was bag over my head & I was getting tied down. A few moments later I started to struggle for air. Then a thought occurred to me, nobody can save me now.
Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
"Caroline! Stay awake!" a familiar voice called out to me. "It's a hallucination! Snap out of it!" he roared.
Inhale. Exhale. I-I-Inhale...E-ex-x-hale....
