Fifth grade: last year of intermediate school

I've been at this school my whole life. I can't find the perfect friends, the 'friends' I have now just make fun if me... well today I'm going to this youth center place that seems really fun so maybe I can find some new friends there. Who knows?
I'm here now, I don't recognize ANYONE except for this one kid I think his name Jake, he is in my grade but I don't talk to him. I walk into the kitchen where he is
"Hi" I say nervously.
"Uhh... hi?" Okay so that sounds like a question to me but oh well.
"What's your name? Do I know you?" He asked me.
"My name is Madie and I'm in your grade but we've never talked."
"That explains a lot, he says with an annoyed tone.
*my phone rings* "oh hey mom what's up"..."k I'll be there soon."
"Well I gotta go. Umm.. maybe talk to you later?"
"Maybe, maybe not." He said.. I think he thinks I'm annoying to him...
