"Where is the birthday girl?" I ask as I step into the Lane's family house.
"Uncle Harry! Aunty Violet!" Mia's voice could be heard and soon we hear the sound of her footsteps.
I crouched down and she jumped into my arms as soon as she saw me.
"Happy Birthday Mia!" I say as I hug her tight.
"Thank you Harry." She says before pecking my cheek.
I let her down and she jumped into Violet's embrace giggling. Violet wished her a happy birthday as well before we made our way to the living room where everyone except Brad and baby Hal were.
"Hello everyone!" We said before we gave each of them a hug.
Mia left Violet's arms and went to her Barbie dolls as she began to play on her own. Violet began a conversation with Lilian and Brit while I started to talk to Aaron and James. Leo and Connor were talking and laughing on their own and it was only right to give them their space.
I was happy that they were starting to be more open around each other when all the family is together. On the start it was a bit tense especially because Leo felt nervous someone could feel uncomfortable. However time has proved that we are not like that and that we love him no matter if he is in love with a man or a woman.
Connor himself has always been reserved about doing romantic gestures in public with Leo. He told us that he grow up on a very religious family who never accepted his sexual orientation. As a result he was always afraid to expose love in public but slowly he is breaking that shell. I know how it felt to arrive to this family but this is the best family you could ask for. They don't judge you, they just open their arms and you are already family.
Lilian knew this as well. She felt so welcomed, you could tell on the large smile on her face. I was glad James could find love again. He truly deserves it. Both of them do.
"Mia's friends and their parents are coming in a few minutes." Brit announced and we nod.
We made our way to the backyard where the party was going to take place. There were colorful balloons, party decorations and lots of toys.
Aaron and Brit's house was a big family house with a big backyard. I knew from Violet that Aaron has made the house design himself which reminded me that we needed to talk to him so he could make us one.
Mia was jumping around excited with a plastic crown on her head and her signature pigtails. She was hugging her Olaf teddy to her chest while she sang to the frozen song coming from the stereo.
Soon the backyard was full of kids laughing, running and playing around. It was a happy sight, just kids being free and happy.
I soon found myself making conversation with different parents with Leo and Connor by my side.
"So you two are together?" One father asked Leo and Connor.
"Yes, we are." Leo says with a proud smile.
"That's nice. My husband and I adopted two years ago. Do you have kids?" The father who happened to be homosexual as well asked them.
Leo and Connor blushed and laughed awkwardly. "Oh no. We are too young for that."
"Yes, we like no kid's life." Leo added.
"What about you Harry? I see you are married, have any kids?" He asked me.
"No. I am not that up for having kids but we will see." I say politely.
"Why not? My kids are the best thing to happen to me. I am telling you is the best experience." He says with a proud smile.
"I am not cut for a father." I say.
"Are you serious?" Leo asks me in awe.
"Yes, why?" I ask.
"Harry you are amazing with kids." Connor tells me. "Mia is so in love with you. Lucas and Hal just love you as well. You are so good with them. You are made for being a father."
"Oh no no no. That's not it. Hal actually makes fun of me and he is 5 months old. Lucas spitted his breakfast on me once and Mia loves me because she likes my hair. I am not father material." I say.
"Whatever you say Harold." Leo says before patting my back.
Was I really father material?

"I swear I am not having kids ever." Leo moaned a few hours after Mia's birthday party was over. "I still have a ringing on my ear from all the shouting."
Connor rolled his eyes at him but then gave him a quick kiss so he will feel better.
All of us were helping Aaron and Brit clean the whole mess on the backyard but soon we all give up after Brit said it will be better to call a cleaning service tomorrow.
Mia, Lucas and Hal were all asleep upstairs so we decided to grab a drink, sat outside and have a chat. Aaron and Brad started a fire so we would not get cold and we all just hang out there.
"What about you and Harry? Any baby plans on the way?" Lilian asked with a big smile on her face.
Everybody went silent for a few minutes. Lilian had no idea about the miscarriage we suffered early this year. It was just something you don't go around telling to people.
"Oh my god did I say something I shouldn't?" Lilian asks searching for an answer in our faces.
"Don't worry Lilian. All is fine." Violet told her.
She grabbed Lilian's hand before breathing in and out.
"I had a miscarriage early this year." She told her.
Lilian gasped and brought her hands to her mouth. "Oh my god I am so sorry Violet. I had no idea."
"It's okay Lilian. You didn't know." Violet told her with a sad smile.
"I am sorry for bringing it up. I shouldn't have asked. I am so sorry." Lilian apologized again.
"Don't apologize. You didn't know and that's fine." Violet told her trying to calm Lilian down.
"It breaks my heart you had to go through that." She said.
"It was hard times but it was a mend or break moment for mine and Harry's relationship. And we are still together." Violet said smiling at me.
"You are so strong Violet." Lilian said before pulling her in a hug.
"Thanks Lilian." She says with a smile. "And to answer your question, maybe someday we will have a baby who knows."
I felt slightly uncomfortable when Violet said that. I wasn't convinced about us having a baby and hearing her kind of confirming it to her family put a pressure on my shoulders. I was glad she has said 'maybe someday'. I liked that maybe. It's maybe yes and maybe no. I was secretly rooting for the maybe no.
"That's nice to hear. Harry and you will make beautiful babies." Lilian says excitedly.
I was glad I didn't have any soda on my mouth at the moment because I am sure I would have spit it. Hearing my name and make babies on the same sentence made my stomach turn, literally.
"Harry are you okay bro? You look a bit pale." Brad asked me with a smirk.
"Eh? No I am fine." I say.
"Sure lad." Brad continued to smirk at me.
"Did you know that Hal smirks just like you?" I ask him.
"Who do you think taught him?" He says.
"Oh god!" I groan.
"Just wait till he is 5, then I am teaching how to win the ladies." He winks at me.
"Don't you think 5 is a early age for teaching him how to flirt with girls?" I ask.
"One is never too young." He says. "Harry you are so naïve. When I was 5 I was already kissing girls. Playing house it's great."
"Brad, you are sick." I tell him.
"No, I am not. I am just highly experienced on kissing. I should give you some tips." Brad said.
"Ew! Thank you but no." I say.
"Your loose." He says with a smirk.
"What are you so secretly talking about?" Violet asked next to us.
"Just giving Harry some kissing tips." Brad joked making us all laugh.
