"Where is the birthday girl?" I ask as I step into the Lane's family house.

"Uncle Harry! Aunty Violet!" Mia's voice could be heard and soon we hear the sound of her footsteps.

I crouched down and she jumped into my arms as soon as she saw me.

"Happy Birthday Mia!" I say as I hug her tight.

"Thank you Harry." She says before pecking my cheek.

I let her down and she jumped into Violet's embrace giggling. Violet wished her a happy birthday as well before we made our way to the living room where everyone except Brad and baby Hal were.

"Hello everyone!" We said before we gave each of them a hug.

Mia left Violet's arms and went to her Barbie dolls as she began to play on her own. Violet began a conversation with Lilian and Brit while I started to talk to Aaron and James. Leo and Connor were talking and laughing on their own and it was only right to give them their space.

I was happy that they were starting to be more open around each other when all the family is together. On the start it was a bit tense especially because Leo felt nervous someone could feel uncomfortable. However time has proved that we are not like that and that we love him no matter if he is in love with a man or a woman.

Connor himself has always been reserved about doing romantic gestures in public with Leo. He told us that he grow up on a very religious family who never accepted his sexual orientation. As a result he was always afraid to expose love in public but slowly he is breaking that shell. I know how it felt to arrive to this family but this is the best family you could ask for. They don't judge you, they just open their arms and you are already family.

Lilian knew this as well. She felt so welcomed, you could tell on the large smile on her face. I was glad James could find love again. He truly deserves it. Both of them do.

"Mia's friends and their parents are coming in a few minutes." Brit announced and we nod.

We made our way to the backyard where the party was going to take place. There were colorful balloons, party decorations and lots of toys.

Aaron and Brit's house was a big family house with a big backyard. I knew from Violet that Aaron has made the house design himself which reminded me that we needed to talk to him so he could make us one.

Mia was jumping around excited with a plastic crown on her head and her signature pigtails. She was hugging her Olaf teddy to her chest while she sang to the frozen song coming from the stereo.

Soon the backyard was full of kids laughing, running and playing around. It was a happy sight, just kids being free and happy.

I soon found myself making conversation with different parents with Leo and Connor by my side.

"So you two are together?" One father asked Leo and Connor.
