"So when does Derek get back" Arizona asked looking through a patients chart
"I don't know and I don't care" I replied looking through my patients chart
"Did you guys really break up on Christmas"
"Yea we did then I went to the airport and got really really drunk"
"Well then but I really don't think Hunt is going to be a good stand in chief" she said closing her chart and looking at her phone
"Well we have to give him a chance" I said closing mine too
"Yea...I got to go I'll see you later" she said and we walked different ways
DEREKS POV
(Backstory)
Derek met back up with a old friend who he went to High School, College, Med school, their Internship and residency with and her name is Spencer Matthews Derek always had a crush on her but when they went their separate ways when they moved to different hospitals. After they met back up a month after Derek arrived back in New York they decided to start dating.
"Derek when do they want you back in Seattle?" Spencer asked sitting on the couch in my office
"Ehm October 25th why?" I replied
"Well I was thinking about trying to get a job at Seattle Grace Mercy west what do you think"
"What are you serious.....Spencer I think that's a brilliant idea because we can keep this going"
"That's the plan" she said raising her eyebrows
"I love you"
"I wanted to be the first to say that but I love you too" she said coming over to my desk and she kissed me.
4 and a half months later
(DEREKS POV-Seattle)
"Hey babe when do you want to leave to go to the hospital" I asked Spencer who was in the bathroom getting ready
"Ehm what about after you get ready which I hope will be soon" she replied sarcastically as she walked out the bathroom
"Ok then and by the way you look hot"
"Well thank you but hurry up" she said as she pushed me into the bathroom
30 minutes later
"Ready to meet your new colleagues" I asked grabbing her hand as we walked to the entrance
"Yea I am" she replied
When we got to the main nurses station Dr Bailey was standing talking to Owen.
"Well well well if it isn't Dr Derek Shepherd" Bailey said
"Nice to see you Miranda and it's fair to say I've missed you" I replied holding my arms out for a hug
"I've missed you too Derek" she said hugging me
"So I've been waiting on this day for so long now I've only got two weeks left as chief and who is this" Owen asked shaking my hand
"Spencer Matthews I'm Derek's girlfriend and you must be Owen Hunt" she replied
"Yes I am it's nice to meet you and I'm guessing your going to ask for a job?"he asked
"Yes I am I'm planning to move here"
"Well if you follow me to my office and we'll talk"
"Yea sure" she said
"I'm going to go and catch up with a few friends I'll meet you in the office in 20-25 minutes" I said kissing her quickly
"Ok love you"she replied
"Love you too"
