Irene's POV
It's my lunch break now. I got and invite from Joy, to join them for lunch today.
"Jo, are you going out for lunch again?" Alexis asked me. I wasn't able to be with them these days, but we still talk normally.
"No, I'm eating at the cafeteria now." I saw how her expression brightens at that, I spoke before she can even finish what she's about to ask me. "Joy invited me." I said. "I only have a little break time, I hope you understand." I said. I do feel bad, everytime I refuse their invite nowadays. "How 'bout dinner tonight?" I said.
"Yes! Let's do that!"
"Okay, I'll just see you later." I packed things and went out. I look over to Sierra and give her a smile, she smiled back. We never really talked about what happened yet, maybe because I always refuse them.
I went out of the room first, and guess what? An annoying person was already waiting for me there. He was leaning at the wall, with his arms crossed, and sun glasses on. Every person walking by look at him Seriously?!
I wanted to just walk passed him but he held my arms to stop me. I glared at him and look at his hand on my arm.
"Remove it or I'll kill you here, now." He removed his hold. "What is it this time?!" I frustratedly asked, still making sure nobody else can hear me.
"Look! I just wanted to apologize. I swear! It really wasn't my intention." he said. "I didn't know we would actually meet the whole family."
"Just make sure you cleared it all out Kim Suho. I'm only engage to one person and that's not you. If ever words got out, you will see what my anger is capable of." I said, making sure he heard every single word there.
When I first heard that he came back and he wanted to see me, I agreed. Maybe because we didn't exactly end our relationship in the in a bad term. He understood me that time, and I appreciated that. We said our how are you's and catch up with each other.
The next day he invited me for lunch, he said her sister asked to meet me. I'm close to her sister too, so I agreed.
I got there and meet with them but my mind was just on Seulgi. She looks so vulnerable and it troubled me more that I can't even ask and be with her. I know I shouldn't have left that time, but in my mind I thought maybe it's what she needed.
My mind was just off to somewhere else that I wasn't even listening to them anymore.
After lunch unnie invited us somewhere. I told Suho I wanted to go home already, that I promised a dinner to someone. He just said that it'll only be quick. So I agreed to go and that was a mistake.
It turns out his family didn't know we've already broke up. It's been years already! For fuck's sake! And to make it more frustrating, they saw my engagement ring on my finger and thought it was from him. I mean, he didn't even notice that.
"Give me time okay?" He said. I walk away from him. I don't have time for this. I made my way to the cafeteria, with him tailing behind me.
"Joo." He keeps calling me.
"Why didn't you even tell them?" I asked.
"I didn't think it was necessary." he said. "I've been in the states for so long! I thought that was a given fact already." I took at deep breath.
"Well it was not, for them. If this reaches to my fiancé, you won't see the light of another day Kim Suho." I warned him
"Which is why I'm here. I want to meet this person, also explain the situation." I stop on my tracks and face him. What did he jus say?
"You're not explaining anything because you're clearing it out before it can even get to her." I said
"Come on Joo! You know what my family are like!"
"I know! I woul--" I got cut off
"Unnie! Here!" I look at Joy waving her hand. I saw she's with Seulgi's friends, but Seulgi is not with them. Maybe she have other things to do.
"New friends?" The person beside me asked. I look at him. "I'm just asking."
"Let's go." I'm not that rude, so I invite him over to their table.
"Suho Oppa, it's nice to see you again!" Joy exclaimed.
"You too, Joy."
"Unnie, here's your food." Joy gave me that. I felt the others' eyes on me. I took a seat. "Oppa, I'm sorry I didn't know you're here too."
"It's okay Joy. I wouldn't be staying for long. I need to go already." I look up to him. "I'll get on it, I promise." I felt him tap my head and then he left.
"Unnie why did he came?" Joy asked. I look at her. I was surprise to see her smile gone. I get that.
"We just talk about some things." I said to her. I look over to the others. "By the way, where's Seulgi?" I asked them.
"Didn't she go to you?" Huh?
"I guess triggering her really didn't work." Wendy said. I then saw a tissue flew over to Wendy's face. It was Krystal who threw that.
"Why did you even do that!?" Krystal said.
"It was the first time I saw Seulgi like that." Hyeri then said. "What did you even told her that made her grab you like that?" Grab? what?! Seulgi?
"What do you mean?" I decided to speak up. Krystal then face me.
"Wendy and Seulgi had a fight this morning. Turns out, Wendy did asked for the fight." Krystal said and glared at Wendy.
"I just wanted to know why she barely had any time to spend with us these days. I'm sorry okay?" Wendy said. Connecting when she ask if Seulgi went to me and what she's saying now, I think I have and idea on what she said to her. I sighed.
"Yah! Seulgi had to catch up in the classes and exams she missed during her suspension, didn't you know that?" Hyeri said. I look at her surprised at what she said. "Of course she would have less time, when her workloads got doubled than the usual."
"That's why she's always here, until night time?" Krystal said. "I thought it was all just for extra credits."
"No. Last time I checked, she finished it all up just last week. That's why I expected her to be here now, but then Wendy did something stupid." I don't know what to feel at what I just heard. I did notice her workload being too much, but didn't exactly thought that it was the case.
"How did you even knew about these?" Wendy asked
"Classmates." Hyeri said. "that are Seulgi's classmates in some courses too. Seulgi wouldn't share these things, you know her." I look over to my food. Maybe I should've been more understanding.
"Do you possibly know where Seulgi unnie is now?" Joy asked. Somehow I felt that the question was directed at me. I look up to her and meet her eyes. I end up reaching my phone but before I can even do something Krystal spoke.
"Maybe at the hospital?" Krystal said that made me automatically look at her. Hospital?!
"You saw it! She was the one who grabbed me! Why are you staring at me like I did something to her!?" Wendy suddenly said that, and I notice Hyeri giving her an accusing look. If it were a different topic, I could've laughed now.
"What do you mean she may be at the hospital." I asked, worried.
"Yeji was rushed at the hospital last saturday morning, or at least that was what Kai told me. He said there was an accident during dance practice." What?! "All I know is that Yeji's still confined at the hospital now."
"Is Seulgi unnie really not the type who shares what's happening in her life?" Joy asked.
"She will, if you ask her." Hyeri said. it was also what Wendy told me, I did it once but I didn't know what was happening. I didn't meant to put her in the situation where I made her choose, because I didn't know.
"Do you know what hospital?" I face Krystal. "Please tell me."
"Unnie I don't think you still need to ask that." Joy said. I face her.
"Joy, you don't understand. I--" she suddenly pointed something behind me.
When I look back I saw Seulgi just entered the cafeteria and was looking around. I stand up from my seat and walk to where she is. I was halfway already when she saw me. She then started to walk my direction too.
"Hey. Can we--" I cut her her off and hug her. I felt her stiffened, I hug her even tighter.
"I'm sorry." I said. I then felt her hug me back.
"Why are you apologizing? I should be the one saying sorry." she said. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to give you enough attention the last weeks, I promise I'll do better now."
I slowly pulled away from her, I was about to reach for her face when suddenly, someone got in between us.
"KangSeul! I'm so sorry at what I said earlier. I didn't mean all that." Wendy dramatically said and is now hugging Seulgi already.
"Sorry, we had to break you off. All eyes where on you two already." I then heard Krystal whispered it to me. "We didn't want you to do things you might regret. You still have an image to protect and we have our friend to protect in any issues that may come out of it." I look over to her.
"Don't worry, my image only matters if Seulgi's the one looking over me." I said confidently to her. "I don't care about others' opinion, just hers alone will be enough."
"I hope you mean that. If ever Seulgi got hurt because of her feelings for you, I wouldn't care how big or powerful you are."
"Are you threatening me?" I asked her.
"It's not a threat, it's a warning Miss Bae." Krystal said before she went up to the others.
I watch her hug Seulgi too, Seulgi smiled widely.
I guess her friends' opinions matter to me now too.
