Melo POV:
When I wake up I check me and Tae's messages to see no reply. What the hell did those letters mean. I try not to worry as I get ready for school. When I head downstairs I tell my mom goodbye head to school. When I get there I see the others and walk up to them.
"hey yall" I say opening my locker
"Hey, you seem tense, you good?" Tre asks
"Have any of yall heard from Tae?" I ask closing my locker
"No, well not since school yesterday" Tavon says
"Why? Something wrong" Kennedi asks
"I got this weird text from him yesterday and then when asked what it meant I got no response." I tell them as I show them the message
"Oh..that is really weird" Aushrea says
Where are you Tae and what is going on?
Tae POV:
I awake in pain and bright lights flashing in my eyes. Then I quickly register where I am, a hospital? I am in so much pain that I groan and Saniya stands up over me.
"Take it easy Tae" Saniya tells me
"Sis, what the fuck. Why am I here, what happened" I ask as I panic a bit
"You were in an accident. Last night. Your car flipped and you were in a field on the other side of the road, they say you're in critical condition." She tells me as she sheds a tear "nigga I thought I lost you"
"Do the others know?" I ask her
"No, or at least I don't think so" She tells me
"MELO! I was texting him before- before- before everything went black." I tell her
Just then the nurse walks in the room.
"Hello Mr. Jones, I see you're awake." The nurse says with a smile
"Yeah" I say
"Well, we're gonna move you to another room to do some X-rays and MRI's. Then we'll have to see if you'll need any physical therapy after this whole ordeal." She says
I nod my head and the nurse turns to leave.
"Alright, so while you go to your X-ray, I'ma go to school, I'll be back by lunch..pinky bear swear" Saniya says and she kisses my forehead and walks out.
I get moved to the room the nurse told me to go to and I get hooked up to these machines.
Damn, Melo prolly worried, but I hope he ain't. Shit bro, I hope he Ight, fuck I hope I'm alright.
The nurse takes me to get an MRI and I get one done. Then I get taken back to the room I woke up in. The nurse leaves and I go to my phone. I call Melo and he picks up.
"Hey Poppo" I say
"Tae!? Oh my fuckin god I was worried, you good?" He says
"Yeah, I'm Ight. I was just with the doctors, got some X-rays and stuff" I tell him
"X-ray!!!! Are you ok— sorry Ms Harrell" he says getting quiet, he in class "What the hell is going on Tae"
I explain the accident and he just sighs.
"Melo I'm Ight though..really" I say
"Yeah..I know" he says "But I'm still coming to the hospital after school, I'll be there in no time"
"Ok baby, I'll see you in a bit" I say
We end the call and I lay back in my bed. I close my eyes and wait for Saniya to come back.
Melo POV:
After I talk to Tae I turn my phone off and pay attention to the class. The entire rest of the day Tae is all I can think about. When the last bell rings I run to my car and drive straight to the hospital. When I get there I see Saniya sitting in the waiting area.
I walk up to her and say, "Hey Saniya, how is he?"
"He's good for the most part" Saniya tells me putting her hand on my shoulder.
"Thank God" I say with a sigh of relief
We talk for a minute and then Saniya heads home. I go up to the front desk and the lady tells me Tae is in room 312. I go up to the room and when I get in I see him laying in the bed.
When he sees me he says, "Hey Poppo"
"Hey baby" I say as I run up to him and hug him
"I'm Ight, I'm Ight" He laughs "I promise Poppo"
"I was worried, I don't want anything to happen to you" I say
"I'm ok, they say I'm in no condition to play the game Friday but I'm fine" He tells me
"Good, you had me worried, you ain't never ignore me like that before, and that illiterate ass message had me way thrown off" I tell him
"Yeah my bad, but I promise I'm ok" He says with a slight smile "now since you so worried, can I have a kiss for my boo boos"
"Always" I say as I kiss him on the lips and his forehead
I pull up a chair and sit next to his bed. I hold his hand and we talk for a while. A nurse walks in the room and she checks Tae's vitals.
"Well, you're looking good, I think you'll be able to go home by Thursday if everything goes well" the nurse says
"Yes!! Thank you" He says
"So, you're welcome." She says as she smiles and walks out
"Can't wait to be home" He says
"Yeah me too" I say kissing his hand
Tavon POV:
I wake up Wednesday morning and head downstairs to see Aushrea sitting at the counter.
"Wassup bae" I say kissing her cheek
"Hey" she says as she kisses me
"How'd you sleep" I ask
"Good" she says with a smile
"Ight cool" I say as I make myself a bowl of cereal
"How'd you sleep"she asks me as she smiles at me
I smile and tell her "any sleep with you in my arms is a good one"
She rolls her eyes and continues to eat her breakfast. When I finish my food I take my bowl to the sink and rinse it off. I wash my hands and go to put my shoes on. I go to start the car and come back inside quickly, it's cold as fuck outside.
Aushrea laughs as she gets up to go upstairs and get ready. I sit on the couch and wait for her. She comes down 5 minutes later with her hair straightened and her clothes on.
"You ready to go" I ask her
"Yeah" She says
I take her to the front of the school and when I pull up she kisses me and then gets out the car. I sit in the car for a bit before I leave to go to the student parkin lot. When I get there I see Kennedi and Mahogany talking. I walk over to them and say hello.
"Hey Tavon" Mahogany says with a smile
"Hey" I say
"How's Tae" Kennedi asks
"He's good, Melo there with him" I tell her
"Oh that's good, so is he gonna be able to play Friday?" Mahogany asks
"No, but he's fine with it, he knows if he plays he might just injure himself even more" I say
"That's true" Kennedi says "but we still gotta win this game for him"
"Oh we definitely will" I say smiling
We talk for a few minutes before the bell rings. Kennedi and I head to history together and we sit down in our seats. When Ms Harrell walks in she says we'll be having a quiz today. Everyone groans and I look over at Kennedi who rolls her eyes.
When the tests are passed out, Ms Harrell walks around the classroom to make sure no one is cheating. The quiz isn't so bad, it was pretty easy. I finish the test with 20 minutes to spare so I sit there and look around the class room. I see Kennedi struggling but I don't say anything, she would probably kill me if I did.
After class we all head to the auditorium for a class assembly that the principal has set up. We have 3 assemblies a year, one for each quarter.
When we get in the auditorium everyone takes a seat. The principal talks about how the year is going and tells us all to stay safe. Then the superintendent gets on stage and tells us to respect the teachers and to stay out of trouble. I roll my eyes and yawn. I hear Kennedi laugh next to me.
After the assembly we go to lunch and talk with the others.
Tre POV:
Me and Miya are walking to the student parking lot to go get in her car and spark up. She cool as fuck, and she funny as hell. My kind, so to speak.
"I'm but on a serious note, I heard about Melo's boyfriend. I know you guys are all friends so how are you holding up" Miya asks me as she unlocks her car door
"Uhh yeah, we're good I guess. He'll be back on his feet in no time, Tae strong." I tell her
"That's good." She tells me
I try to open the visor to look in the mirror and I see college brochures fall out, then the question sparks in my mind.
"So which one you choosing" I say holding up a Auburn college brochure
"I don't know yet, lowkey none of them feel like they "fit" for me." She tells me as she picks up one out of my lap, it was for FAMU "It's like I haven't found that one that just "clicks" for me"
I nod my head and think for a second as I spark up a blunt. "What happened to athletes don't smoke" She laughs
"It's my cheat day" I say with a laugh "And I play football, it's basketball season"
We smoke for a minute and then I ask her, "So how come you left your old school? You got kicked out or something?"
She takes a hit of the blunt and says, "I got tired of seeing the same faces every day at school, and my moms had a job transfer that landed us here"
I nod my head and take another hit from the blunt.
We keep smoking and I say, "Well, I hope you find a college that fits you..and not because it's the first one you get into."
"What about you?" She asks as she looks over at me
"what about me" I say
"College, which one you picking" She asks
"I dunno about college, I'm just going with the flow of life" I say as I pass her the blunt
We continue to talk for a while before we head inside the school for class. When I get to class I see Kennedi sitting in her seat. She waves to me and I wave back.
Tavon POV:
After I pick Aushrea up we head to my house. When we get there I park in the garage. We walk in the house and I head upstairs. She follows behind me and walks into my room. She sits on the bed and I close the door. She grabs my remote and turns on the tv as I go in my bathroom to change clothes.
When I come back out I sit next to her on the bed and I grab my phone. I get on social media and see Saniya posted a video of me sleeping in Math class. I laugh and comment a laughing emoji on it. Aushrea laughs and says, "Bae you sleep in every class"
"Yeah cause they boring as fuck" I say with a laugh
"Ok the weekend gonna be real 'boring' if your grades start to slip and your mom finds out" She laughs
Aushrea lays on my chest and I kiss her forehead.
"Don't worry about allat, I sleep after I finish the work" I laugh
I play with Aushrea hair and we cuddle on the bed. After a few minutes I look at her and say, "How was your day?"
"Good, and yours" She says looking at me
"Same, I just can't wait for this party tomorrow " I say
"Speaking of the party, you'll have a surprise tomorrow." She tells me with a smirk
"What? What is it" I ask with a smile
"If I told you" she says then she kisses me "it wouldn't be a surprise"
I laugh and kiss her again, then I say, "Okay okay, well can you give me a hint?"
"Hmmm." she thinks for a second and says "nope, you'll find out at the party"
"You a trip" I say with a laugh
Melo POV:
I get up early Thursday morning and go to Tae's house. I walk in his room and I see him sitting on his bed.
"Hey bae" I say walking over to him
"Hey Poppo" he says kissing me "what are you doing here so early?"
"I know it's your first official day back from the hospital, and your car is still in the shop. So we going to school in my car. And IM driving." I tell him with a smile
"You know I like driving your car" he says with a smile
"You know that you need to rest." I say with a smile "besides, I'm taking you home after school"
He laughs and kisses me again.
"So what you is a taxi service now" He laughs some more
"Shut up" I laugh
I help him get ready and we head downstairs. I see his sister sitting in the living room eating cereal.
"Hey Saniya" I say
"Hey Melo" She says with a smile "Tae you sure you good enough to go to school today?"
"Ye. Sis I'm good I promise" he says
"Girl, you not coming to school today" I ask
"No, I got the flu chile" She says
"Oh damn" I say with a laugh
We talk for a little bit before we go outside to my car. I help Tae get in the car and I get in. We head to school and we go straight to his locker.
"Poppy,I can take it from here" he laughs "I promise I'm good. See, all there did was wrap my ribs, I can still walk, I can still move my arms. I'm fine,I promise, and if I have any trouble I'll call you"
"Fine, just be careful. No rough housing until your ribs get better" I tell him
"Ok" he says with a smile
"Promise?" I ask
"Bae" he laughs and then he kisses me "pinky bear swear"
"You are lucky you fine" I laugh as I walk away
"Damn thickness" he says as I keep walking
When I get to my locker I put my stuff in there and I see Miya and Tre laughing together at Tre's locker. They must be really good friends now, I hope so. Tre deserves to have a friend.
Aushrea POV:
Me and Kennedi are in the lunchroom on our phones when Mahogany comes in.
"Hey girlssss" Mahogany says as she sits down next to Kennedi
"Hey" Kennedi says
"What's up Mahogany" I say
"Nothing, you ready for this party tonight" she asks
"Yeah, I am" Kennedi says
"Same, I just can't wait to see what everyone popping out in, because Stevan's little get together was a kickback.. Tonight is gonna be a PARTY" She says
I nod and laugh as I say "right"
"We riding together girls or what" Kennedi asks
"I'm riding with Von" I tell them as they look at me
"Yeah kenn, just me and you. You know Aushrea be with her man 24/7 now" Mahogany says making me laugh
"And do" I laugh some more
The bell rings and we head to class. When we get there Ms Worrick tells us that we have a quiz today. Everyone groans but we get started. After we finish the quiz Ms Worrick lets us have free period. The school day is short and we all head home to get ready for the party.
Tae POV:
I finish getting dressed and I go downstairs to the living room to watch tv. I see my sister sitting there on the couch.
"Hey sis" I say
"Hey" She says and she looks at me
"You look comfy" I tell her
"Thanks, you look like you finna pop out. Have fun at the party" She tells me ash she blows her nose
"Thanks" I say as I get a text from Melo telling me he outside
We decided to match for the party I had on a grey shirt with black jeans and grey Nike shoes. Melo has on a white shirt and black jeans and grey Nike shoes.
When I get in the car I see him sitting there in the driver's seat with his outfit on looking fine as hell.
"There go my baaabyyyy" I say making us laugh as I kiss him
"You look really good" he says kissing me back
"You think so?" I say
"Hell yeah" he says "I know so"
He drives off and we get to the party. It was on a block with a bunch of houses and most of them were lit up. I can hear the music from where we were at. We walk in the house and I see a lot of people in the house. Then I see Tristian, this nigga always be flirting with Melo and can't take a hint. But I know my baby can handle himself so I'm not even worried about it.
Melo POV:
Ms and Tae decide to go separate ways for a little bit at the party, and I decide to go get a drink. When I get in the kitchen I see Tristian walking up to me.
"Where my hug" he asks
"Wherever you left it" I say while rolling my eyes
He puts his hand over his heart with a smile and says "damn, why you so mean shawty"
"Please stop calling me that" I say and I start to walk out until he grabs my wrist really hard
"Man why you fighting it, you know I'm sexy. And you know I'm the sexual mastermind of the school. Whatever Tristian wants, I get it. Niggas, bitches,I get em all." He says
"Boy let me go, and I'm not one of these people we go to school with that give it up because you do the bare minimum and compliment their hair one good time" I say trying to pull away from him
"Bro just stop fighting it" He says trying to pull me into a hug
"Aye watch back lil bro" Deion says as he walks in with Romeo
I didn't expect him to defend me, especially after what happened at Stevan's party last weekend. Deion never really liked Tristian, and Tristian knew that. Tristian is also scared of Deion, so he never stepped to him, ever.
"Man whatever, bougie ass niggas bro" Tristian says as he walks off
"Thanks" I say blankly
Deion looks at me and then he looks away and says "Come on Romeo"
They walk away and I go to find Tae.
Tavon POV:
After we get to the party we decide to go find our friends. When we find them we see everyone here. I walk over to Aushrea and I wrap my arms around her waist.
"Hey mamas" I say in her ear
"Hey bae" she says as she sways to the music
"So, this surprise?" I say
"Come on" she says as she leads me by my hand upstairs
All the others gasp and we hear oooo's and ahhhh's from them as we walk upstairs. Is tonight the night?
