After a few days..
Shrey's pov
" Shrey bhag ke jaa aur mithai leke aa " Mom ordered me, giving her purse, tugging that in my hand.
( shrey go and buy sweets )
" Which ones? " She did not even hear me but already added, " Jaldi jaa didi jiju ka khana khatam hojayega.. Jaaa.. "
( go fast or sister and brother in law will be done with food )
I nodded and started walking out but suddenly another call came. It wasn't mom anymore. " Aur mere chocolates bhiii, thik hai naa? Please lana please " I don't think I have to tell you, who is this? Without uttering anything I stepped out of the house. But I could hear mom telling to her
( and chocolates for me)
" Arini, we have some chocolates in fridge, you can have that. Shrey bought them last night "
I didn't know what happened after that as I was out already. Yeah, I bought chocolates for her last night as I got a call from didi, that they're coming today and wanna spend diwali with us. I wanted to give chocolates to Arini but my mom already did that.
I ran to the sweet shop and bought a few sweets for everyone. And bought chocolates for her once again. I saw firecrackers everywhere . I wanted to buy some but I'm in a hurry right now. I again ran to my house. Before entering, I saw Anubhav & his little brother, standing in their garden, putting firecrackers in sunlight.
It was really open area, so I was able to see them. And for my bad luck he looked at me too. Giving me a smile, he started coming to my direction.
Why bro why? Andar jaa please mat aa. Meri dimag na kha
( go inside. Don't eat my head)
But he anyhow approached me. " Shrey bhai, happy diwali. "
" Happy diwali "
" Arini ayi hai kya? "
( did arini come?)
Isko kisne batayaaaaaaaa
( who told him?)
" Who is Arini? " I asked.
I saw him chuckling then shaking his head " Bade mazak karte ho ap bhaiya "
( you're so funny brother)
Tere sath toh bilkul nhi.
( not with you)
I smiled and tried to come inside but he again spoke, "I saw her coming today in this morning. That's why I asked "
" Oh " Har taraf nazar hai iska
( he is looking everywhere)
" I want to meet her too. " He spoke. "Not even in your dreams" Mumbling that I went inside without even telling him a bye.
Just as I entered I got an earful from mom because I was late already. Di & jiju finished their food already. It's because of Anubhav. He made me late. Pata nhi mere zindagi mein yeh ladka bas mushkilen hi kyun paida karta?
( I don't know why this boy creates problems in my life only?)
My eyes fall on Arini who was sitting on sofa, chocolate in her hand, watching Shinchan very carefully. Just like a baby!
But I didn't choose to sit with her. After coming back from her home, that karva chauth evening was haunting me. That kiss, that intensity, that closeness... That madness I showed to her wasn't good.
I sighed. It wasn't giving me good feelings. I am feeling guilty from that night. We came back from their house and I could not even tell her a 'bye' before coming back. She's only 18 and I'm ruining her.
Even if it's going to be me who will be ruining her innocence , I don't want to do it now. She has studies, need to build her career, I should keep myself in control. I'll try to do that from now. I kept on promising myself until she looked at me with a big smile.
" Shrey I was waiting for you. Let's go and buy firecrackers. " She came to me suddenly.
And before I could answer anything jiju too came saying, " Yeah let's go together "
Now I couldn't say no. " Wait a minute. Let me bring my wallet. " I ran to my room to collect that. And in this short time jiju already changed his mind. When I came back I saw him giving Arini some money and he said, "buy whatever you like. "
Then he turned to me and said, " Sorry I can't go Shrey, you sister had some works. You both go okay...and take care of her please.." Coming closer to me he whispered "she is little bit crazy you know "
I couldn't help but chuckled. Who will know better than me? I nodded and went out with Arini. Once again she sat on my bike.
" Thik se beith gyi ho kya? "
( you sat properly?)
" Ha ruko ek second "
( no wait one second)
I waited for her and meanwhile I saw Anubhav coming to us 🙂 firse... ( again)
" Hey Arin--" Before Arini could hear him, I drove.
" Shrey dheere "
( shrey slow down)
I slowed down just as she said but it was enough far from the Anubhav's eyes. Then I went to the bada bazar with her where we can get patakha in cheap price.
Just as we reached there Arini started watching everything with her doe eyes. She wanted to buy everything together. But I wasn't agreeing. Obviously we won't everything.
" Shrey you still haven't bought helmets for our kids, atleast buy crackers for their mom."
" I'm buying all ready " I answered while checking some anars. Suddenly she snatched them from my hand and said, " Hmmm yehi toh chahiye mujheeee "
( yes I wanted this)
I nodded and took a packet of comet to check and again it was snatched from me. " Haaa haaa yehi toh dhund rhi thiii "
( yes I was finding this)
" Okay.. Keep them separately "
Then I took a packet of chocolate bomb and it was again snatched by her. One by one whatever I was taking in hand, Arini was snatching from me saying she wants it all.
I finally turned to her to find her carrying literally the half of the shop in her arms.
" Arini tum kya kar rhi ho? Kapde kharab mat karo. Rakho yeh sab"
( arini what are you doing? You're ruining your clothes. Put them down)
" Mujhe kharid na hai "
( I want to buy).
" Haa kharidlo na babu, behen ko mana mat karo ek hi toh din hota hai diwali ka "
( yes kid, don't say no to sister. Diwali is for one day)
My head spun to the shopkeeper's face who just called Arini as my 'behen'.
( sister)
I felt being angrier. Now I won't buy anything from here. " Put everything down." I forcefully took everything from her and dragged her to some other shop.
" Chupchaap khadi rehna " I told.
( stand here silently)
" Shrey, bhai gave me money to buy everything, you're stopping me.. It's not good" She pouted while poking on my arm.
" Paisa hai mtlb sab kharach kardo esa nhi hota " I said back. I didn't want to spend her money. Umm.. I felt like it's my responsibility to buy stuffs for her.
( you have money but that doesn't mean that you'll spend it all )
After sometime we were done with buying everything. I bought her a kulfi before coming back. She was enjoying eating that. And my eyes caught something suddenly. In a shop, something pretty was there.
" Wait here. I'm coming. " I told her and left to buy that. It was for someone special.

We were in the bike again but this time, going home. And suddenly the person who was sitting behind started tapping on my shoulder aggressively and shouted, " Roko idhar roko roko rokoo "
( stop here stop stop stop)
" Ruk gaya... Kya hua hai? "
( stopped.... What happened?)
" I want to go there. " She pointed somewhere. When I looked at the direction I saw it's Balraam kaka's dhaba.
" Tumne jo last time khilaya tha bohot accha thaa.. Firse jaye kya please? "
( what you treated me last time, was so good. Let's eat that again? Please?)
I was a bit shocked. I didn't really expect her to enjoy that food. It must be something different for her. I chuckled and took her there.
This time I didn't have to tell her where to sit. She, by herself, cleaned the dust of the bench and sat. Then looking at me, she said, "order karoo... Usdin wala chiz hi "
( order that... That day's thing)
I smiled and did what I was told to and sat beside her. I found her looking at kaka with interesting eyes. She was observing how he was cooking. As if she could learn from him. I didn't disturb her but kept on admiring her face. She is so rich but doesn't keep even any inch of attitude in her body. She is humble, kind, honest and so much lively.
Just like the perfect amount of life I wanted in my colourless life.
I was scared, am still scared that I won't be able to treat her perfectly. I'm not able to. But I don't know why she is simply, she tends to enjoy this simple life with me. That's why I see more of us.
My reverie broke when Adi (Balraam kaka's son) served us the food. He was looking at me with giggling eyebows and he was smiling really badly. As if he was teasing me.
" Kaise ho Shrey bhai? "
( how are you shrey brother)
" Theek. "
( good)
" Haan theek toh hona hi hai " He said pointing eyes at Arini. I smiled. I don't know why but I smiled.
( yeah... You have to be okayy)
"Wese girlfriend nahi hai aur behen bhi nhi hai haina "
( by the way, she is not your sister.. Right?)
I nodded and pointed him to come closer to me. When he did, I whispered, " Girlfriend hi hai"
